A yawn escaped her, except for the fact that the yawn had no sound tone in it. She snugged her nose in to the leafs that surrounded her.. Adventuring took a lot out of a pup.. Her pale blue eyes searched around for the non-sense that came with the morning's break.
Her tail dragged along as she got up and walked to the watering hole...a place where her pack often went often and could freely go as she pleased. Her paws hit the ground in sequence as she ran across the scattered leafs and the trees. To only get to the watering hole with a jump start. A pile of rocks laid to thr right..Where she had played many times before. Her leaned over to drink some water and before she knew it she had dunked her whole head. Falling in with her rump high in the air. Her floppy ears spread in the bottom of the shallow water that for her... was too much for even her.
Her hind legs moved about some. Bubbles finding their way in to the surface and she herself didn't even know what was up and what was down. How could she ever find her way!? Then she realized she needed air so she needed to find where was up and quick! Spots of teal and the thick color of gray across her body..

The wind and the long nights had carried to young hyena to unknown areas. The deserts and the cracked earth soon gave way to lush grasslands which then turned to forest to which he now found himself among trees, scattered leaves, rocks and a watering hole in closing distance.
The sun was beginning its wake, making Xemnas' golden eyes narrow and dilate as they tried to adjust to the change in lighting. He shook his head, letting his silver mane dance in the air before settling again against his neck, continuing his way towards the decent looking patch of water. It had been a few hours since he had taken a break, eaten or taken any nourishment, and now seemed to be good timing. Careful paws of blacks and white made their path, at first not noticing the distress within. But, the thrashing and bubbling was hard to miss by the time he got close enough.
Huh... His eyes lanced about, looking to see if the creature was maybe under any supervision that could aid it - and maybe indicate what species was being drowned, hell if it were any type of prey it could be any easy kill and be decent breakfast, right? But nothing came into view and the distress continued. Well, not a rabbit, they weren't that stupid to get themselves in a situation and it was much too small to be a warthog, zebra, or gazelle ... lion cub maybe? Xemnas sighed, might as well help, he figured - maybe they could tell him where he was...
So, with another heavy sigh, he made his way closer, staying near the banks of the watering hole and daring not to get too wet so soon and made his way towards the flailing creature - now seeming too small to be a lion cub... "Calm down..." He told it, in his usual bland fashion.

Her ears heard something come up to her. Then start talking. Muffled voices... she coudln't hear what it was saying... White.. black.. she couldn't see that well in the water for her wiggling legs made the water ripple in an impossible attempt to see the on go-er.
Her legs stopped moving and her tail dropped on to the side of her thigh. Her head still submerged but her booty still sticking out of the water. She felt wind on her rump.. maybe that was the way she needed to go for air? Maybe. Her front paws moved a little but seeming that her lower body being on top was to much weight for her to switch position now.. A pain serged through her neck then back. A twitch of her right hind leg was attempt to this but then ceased to move at all.
Maybe this white and black blur needed water and she was disturbing it. Her thought swirled and maybe her mother could find her.. or someone. Like the last time.. but instead of rolling down a hill and in to the water. She just fell in this time. Head first and now her whole weight pushed on to her head.. Her ears went blurry.. too much.. light headed she thought.. She closed the pale blue eyes... in wait.

It was probably cruel that all Xemnas did for the next moments were watch the creature - now coming into obvious identification as perhaps a dog? It was almost similar to his own species but obviously not - as it continued to struggle. It was amusing, even if Xemnas regularly didn't find much enjoyment or openly express emotions such as amusement, to watch the rump of the little grey thing just hover above the water as its head was still submerged.
Well, that wasn't good, as he watched her still. How troublesome to have her die, her being young would mean parental units would be nearby and he'd have to deal with them or something. She hadn't been under that long and wasn't that far, perhaps, so there was still a chance of survival if a rescue was done now. Xemnas pushed his body a little further into the water, slowly becoming a little more submerged with each step until he got close enough. Looking her condition and position over, and another heavy sigh, he held his breathe and plunged his head in, grabbing for the nap of her neck with his mouth to pull her out. Being only an adolescent made his bearings a little shaky and he himself almost went in after and on top of her but with a quick shuffle of feet in the went mud between his paws he managed to pull her out and himself back a little to a better distance.
Okay, step one done. He turned his head gently, letting her rock a little as he ventured back to the dryer land behind him and set her on the ground ... well, not so gently, but at least didn't just drop her or something. "Hey..." The hyena called to her, nudging her body with a paw.

When she felt his paw on her side. Water coughed up was the result. Her small tail wagging some. Air. Air again.. so sweet... She laid up some with her ears flopped out. Water seeping from all parts of her fur. When she finally opened her eyes she was greated with such an elegantly colored thing. Well she knew it was some sort of the dog species..sorta.
She coughed up more water but it sounded more like squeeks than coughing. Her pale eyes to greet his gold ones. He was bigger than her.. and despite that she got up minorly, but when she started to walk forward to him she stumbled on her own paws; landing in front of him with a thump. Then..she smiled brightly. And adding the extra goofy feature.

Xemnas remained silent as she regained air and righted herself, he made no sort of sign of aiding her further and didn't plan on it really; just watched with careful eyes and almost wondering what she would do in response. She herself was silent, her fits of coughing producing odd sounds that could have been coughing but ... weren't. Perhaps she was chocking? His brow-line raises slightly in question but form still didn't budge.
Then she took her happy bounding, then then stumbling, towards him making his brow crease in more confusion. It was then he got a better look at her, though sopping wet, she had an odd coloring to her - more odd than th red he had seen on the hyena he had met - but one near in color to the water and skies above. And it went in splotches across her body, but at least it was clear now that she was one of the Wild Dogs that roamed the lands. [Drat, not food, he was somewhat hoping for that].
"You seem to be fine now," He said, making point to her goofy expression - what a quick recovery. He nodded to her, in a simple gesture of perhaps farewell and agreement to his own statement and turned to go.

When she looked up at his golden eyes, ah... What a pretty design to him hm? She blinked now realizing this odd way his fur was. When he nodded. She did the same. Her body weight had unbalanced itself enough to slide its way to the side. She landed with a thump.
Her ears had laid flat on her head when laid up, then struggled some to get to her paws again. When achieved. The swirl of day break had reached almost to the evening stars...but still morning had its grasp on the sky.
Seeing him almost to walk off she pushed her hind legs down enough to gain some control- then throwing herself on his tail. Struggling but she acheieved in catching his tail between her maw. Her tail flipping from one side to the next in some joy. Her body made the movements of laughter; her body language was saying 'i got cha'. She noticed his floppy ears- they were way bigger than hers! She would have grabbed on to them but- she was too short to; a tail was fine for now. Her own ears flopping against the whail of the wind.
Having almost forgotten that she was drowning at all. Her mind was quick to catch other things than keep focus on just one- or. Just couldn't let someone go away with out a smile.

Xemnas has made it a few good feet, his mind already lost in thoughts of breakfast as the sun began to break further into the sky. His gaze scanned across and ahead of him as far as it could go, looking for signs of rustles or movement. Eyes fixated on one spot, a small movement within tall blades, perhaps - ERK.
The adolescent hyena came to a jerking halt, almost losing his footing and slid back a bit- and embarrassedly so for not noticing the stalker behind him... well, he was caught up but still - golden orbs wide from the sudden contact, especially when dealing with the death grip upon his tail. Ow, that actually kind of hurt, Xemnas resisted against a wince as she clung on as happy as a clam. Of course, he wasn't away of how pleased she was with herself until he turned his head around, narrowed eyes included, to look upon her jubilant form. The hyena was half tempted to flick her off, but like earlier with the drowning, was not in the mood to deal with an angry annoying mother or father wondering why their child was killed for something so "innocent."
So, Xemnas just stared her down, hoping his own unhappy gaze would express what little words he was unwilling to say.

Her smile was then being shrunk by his stare down. Why didn't he lick his tail being hugged? She promptly leg go, not trying to be annoying. She gave a sigh.. letting her hind paws back up slightly as her front paws followed enough that she got confused with her footing and entangled her legs toward. That wasn't the finest thing to do. Wit the action she fell over like a tree. A weird sound came from her maw when she hit the ground.
Something like a whimper but worse and soft. Her tail curled around her side and she looked up at him. Tryiong to gain enough strength to sit up. A smile crossed her face again. She always smiled. Goofy but she did. It looked as though she would break in to a giggling fest but no sound escaped from the maw she used. Her pale blue eyes opened again.. Waving her left paw in to the air to paw at him. Softly trying to get him to stay with her or at least until he gave a smile.

"Thank you," Xemnas said quietly, allowing his tail to have its mobility back. It flicked once, getting the feeling back; he ignored the now matted fur and awkward feeling it gave off. His eyes remained in their slightly glare, which could have made his thanks not as meaningful even if they weren't originally anyways. But now his glare mixed with confusion returning from earlier, his brow creased together at the antics she took to now. The goofy grin, the pawing at him. and her silence, a puzzle really... why did she not speak? Was she too young? Xemnas didn't openly question, just stood and stared at her, also just unsure of what to do.
"Well .... you.... have fun." Came an awkward 'reply' - if one could really call it that since she hadn't even spoken to him at all, but it was a response to her. Xemnas bowed his head, turned and made another attempt to leave.

Alas. She had failed. Yet again. Her second attempt... She looked down. A friend? No... He didn't smile.. there was no way.. there was just no way...
AH! She came up with an idea!
She dashed in front of him. Patting her paws on the ground. For now an attempt.. the last. She then turned and started digging her nail in to the sandish dirt. Swishing her tail around, much to her excitement of the idea.
The letters couldn't be so small since he was bigger. He needed big words.. right? Her arms became almost tired.. but she tried.
'PLeAsE sMiLe. F-eriend' Then she dug her paw next to it as to signature it. She nudged her body a little to the side so the male could see it. Looking at him glare just made her ears sink down her cheeks.

And once again, Xemnas found himself thwarted on his attempts of continuing on - and finding breakfast. He huffed lightly, his expression still blank as the little wild dog played with the dirt in front of him.
Once she was done, he squinted slightly and tilted his head to the side to make sense of the scatches upon the ground, after several tries he found himself sounding the words phonetically aloud - as he wasn't much of a reader. "... aa, friend, that's the last word." He stared at the message, and then the words suddenly clicked in his head and Xemnas couldn't help but feel a little awkward. He was being referred to as a friend and in some ways he wasn't sure he liked it, or at least could live up to such a title. The hyena frowned, the exact opposite of what she had requested. He could fulfil it and just humor her with a smile, but it didn't feel right at the same time. His gaze fell upon the silent creature, her pleased and hopeful stature. It really shouldn't be this hard, something in the back of his mind told him, and he was making too much of it. Smile, and be done with it and then maybe you could finally gain ground again.
Xemnas let out a breathe, slow and eyes closed to open them again, pushing his fascial muscle into a small smile - all he could really ever muster really - in hopes it would be satifactory to her.

Nanu watched at his struggle. Thinking of what he was doing that made him look so confused in. She softly patted over to him and saw the small smile. Her cheeks flushed with bright pink from her dark clouded fur. Her tail dropped to the ground like in some shock came over her. Happiness sunk from the mid of her head up to her tail like an energy surge.
Her paws shook from the point that she could collaspe. Her ears stuck up from the attention her grabbed from her. Dirt had smudged over her cheek; excitingly she smiled. Brightly and soft... One that could calm any around her.. the one her mother would sink in emotions for. As of now she was next to him, and she softly nuzzled his chest fluff. But she had to extend her body a lil just enough to reach it. This gesture showing she was overjoyed for him.. and now without futher. Closing her eyes while snugging her nose on his fur. He wanted to leave- ...
Now she would let him.. forever remembering their meeting for sure... because. Something grew from the short expirence.. but from a pup's hearts... it could easily be mistaken.. or over looked. But she felt a tiny spark of light within her... Oh well. Pup's would forget such things... right? Then she backed away from him a few... to see if he would leave.. even if she wouldn't want him to go.. Though. She still kept that bright smile across her maw.. so nothing could be seen past it but happiness.

Something had to be wrong with her, to get that excited to a smile that he didn't entirely mean. Perhaps the water did something to her brain? Sure, it was a little sweet for someone to be that innocent, but it was.... weird. So, Xemnas just remained where he was as the ball of energy did her thing.
... And tensed up like crazy when she nuzzled into his chest. Oh yes, way to take him out of his comfort zone. His eyes bugged out a little, some control in his actions and he couldn't help but be puzzled to the warm sensation in his cheek areas and other regions of his face. This little wild dog really was something odd to him, not just being a different species which he wasn't used to but just.... something different indeed. When she snuggled, he flinched and was a little guilty for the action but signs of affection were usually lost on him now - his lioness caretaker didn't nuzzle or snuggle much into him after all, being larger than him.
Signs of relief passed him when she broke her contact and backed a little bit aways. Xemnas exhaled slowly, trying to keep that small hint of a smile upon his maw so nothing so the incident wouldn't have to be repeated. He tilted his head towards her, part of his fluffy tuff of grey hair covering one eye. "I suppose I shall be making my leave now. You seem all right." He bowed his head, "Do take care now ..." He paused, realizing he had nothing to address her as and probably wouldn't get anything out of her of a name, "Be careful of the water."
He bowed his head again and padded his way away, increasing the distance between her and him.
