Lorelei had been swimming for what seemed like days to reach the land and she was tired. Her back ached, her arms ached, and her head ached because of what had happened the other day.
She'd run away from home and now she had to face the consequence of not knowing anyone and having nowhere to live. If only her father would allow her to flirt with the other syrins. Well, now that she was out on her own, she could do whatever she wanted! Let’s just try to see him stop her now!
Though she was getting rather hungry and was dying to sing, she decided against it. She was in too bad of a mood right now to sing and she really just wanted a little rest and relaxation, so she swam the few feet left until the shore and pulled herself up unto the bank.

((Pinky, just a suggestion, but perhaps you would prefer using coral as a post color for Lorelei than orange? It's totally up to you, of course, but I just thought it might suit her better.))
A female centaur about the age of Lorelei happened to be trotting up that very same beach looking for shells when the dark-haired syrin pulled herself up onto the sand. She halted in her tracks, both intrigued and surprised by the appearance of the new being.
Wasibru had never before seen a syrin. She had little idea of what lay beneath the ocean waves having been born and raised in the forest. However, she was an inquisitive centaurette and simply adored meeting new and fastinating races. Since she had come to the Cein Isles from her forest home in the mainland, she had learned much. This, however, was something completely new. Unlike any species of taur or even of human Wasibru had ever known, this young woman had no legs at all! Instead, she posessed the tail of a giant fish!
"Um...hello!" she greeted warmly, though she found herself unable to tear her curious grass-green eyes away from the lovely fish-tailed maiden. "Are you new to this island?"

((Looks better, thanks! I blanked on what color to use for her, so I randomly picked orange. sweatdrop ))
Lorelei, who'd been in the middle of brushing her hair when the creature spoke, turned to see who was talking to her. It was, without a doubt, one of the ugliest creatures she'd ever seen. It didn't have a beautiful tail like anyone else she'd met had. This creature had appendages that appeared to be hoofed. What was it? She didn’t know, but she intended to find out.
Lorelei’s cerulean eyes met the green ones. “Yes, in fact I am. What are you?” She asked rather bluntly.

(( heart No problem! XD I LOVE colors. Like for Wasibru's, it may look like orange, but it's actually dark orange. Lol.))
"I'm a centaur," the huntress replied with a grin, having trouble believing that the fish-maiden didn't know what a centaur was. "You really are new here, aren't you? Well, welcome to the Cein Isles!" she cried with an enthusiastic flourish of her wrist, gesturing toward the vast expanse of the sandy beach and the dense thicket of trees that made up the forest behind her. "And, what, may I ask, are you? I've never seen anyone quite like you before. Where do you come from?"
Still grinning, the dapple gray teen settled herself not too far from the syrin, folding her long legs neatly under her. After setting down her woven basket of reeds filled with colorful shells, She leaned forward and proped up her elbows in the sand, resting her chin on her palms in an eager position. She enjoyed talking, and here was someone exciting and interesting to talk to! "My name is Wasibru! I'm not from around here either, but I've been on this island for a while. What's your name?"

((lol. Gottcha. Bed now...))
Lorelei tossed her head back to get the silken strands out of her eyes. She knew that this girl wanted to talk, but she didn't know if she really wanted to, she much rather keep her own company than that of a female.
"A centaur... I believe I've heard of them before, but I've stayed away from politics. It's much more fun to flirt and run around with your friends than to be stuck in the school house learning about things that are about the land." She said, nodding her head for emphasis, but she did it in a way that did her royal training proud. "I'm a syrin and I come from the ocean's bottom."
She was contimplating heading back into the water and to another part of the island when a wave lashed up at her. Her father wasn't happy with her and this was a sign of it, the waves getting more violent. They always did that when he lost his temper. "My name is Lorelei."

((Me too. Sleep well!
Oh, and sorry Pinky, I forgot to mention that 1/3 is working on redoing Wasibru's teen stage at the moment, but she is a teenager at the moment.
A somewhat childish teenager, but a teenager none the less. XD Which would make her Lorelei's age.))
"Politics?" Wasibru repeated, blinking. "I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand..." However, the following words that tumled from the syrin's mouth the centaur knew quite well. "Well obviously it's more fun to flirt and run around with friends. But I like learning about new places every once in a while." She tilted her head. "Wow. See, I never knew the sea had a bottom. Or that your race - syrins, right? - lived there. What's it like?"
The orange-haired teen couldn't stifle a giggle at the sight of the syrin beated upon by a breaking wave. "Oh, that's such a pretty name!" she replied, still giggling a little. "Are you alone here, Lorelei?"

((Oops! *goes to change last post*
Think of Scarlett O'Hara when you hear her refer to war as 'politics'))
"Oh you know, the war that went on. I hate hearing about it. What's past is past, right?" She waved her hand dismissively. "Education is a bore. As long as there's music, who needs to spend time in the classroom?"
She was growing impatient with the other girl's questions. She was hungry and she really would like to rest a little but this 'centaur' wouldn't let her! She made a hmmph-ing sound as she replied, "Of course it has a bottom! Nothing is endless! And syrins are the most beautiful of creatures, so the palace from which I've run away is gorgeous."
She was thinking about swimming away from here when she heard the girl say that her name was pretty. Flattery always got to her. "Why thank you!" She said, blushing slightly. "Yes, I'm quite alone her. I've run from home you see. Father was being too much of a tyrant and I was tired of it! So here I am."

"War?" The mainland centaur blinked. She had never heard of such a war. After all, the taur races had all been very young at the time, and very few were even aware that it ever happened. It was not such the same with the older races, however, such as the water-dwelling syrins.
"Sorry Lorelei, no one told me anything about a war. It must have been a long time ago. Anyway, as I said before, I'm not from the Cein Isles, so I wouldn't know too much of its history. Where I come from only centaur and humans exist. And...er, what's a glass-room?" she asked with an awkward smile. "Nevermind...I bet it's wonderful under the sea if you get to hear music. That's amazing...but surly the world is endless?"
"Oh, I'm sorry!" She exlaimed suddenly, realizing she had been chattering away remorslessly. "You must be tired. Can I get you something to eat while you rest?" she asked, frantically wondering what in the world fish-people might eat. It made her giggle to know that the maiden considered her race of syrins the 'most beautiful of creatures'. This was because back home, her own herd thought the same of their own kind, the centaur. If only they knew of all the other taur on this island...
"You're welcome," Wasibru answered cheerfully, glad she seemed to be working her way to the syrin's good side. Were all syrin like Lorelei? Wasibru wondered. Impatient? A tad vain? Lovely to look at? She smiled kindly at Lorelei's explaination of her presence on the Cein Isles.
"Oh, an angry father? Tell me about it!" she laughed boisterously. "My father wouldn't let me do almost anything! But that's not why I ran away from home." Winking, she got to her sandy hooves and dusted off her coat with her long, dragging tail the color of fire. "Here, I'll gather some food for you if you tell me what you eat." Seaweed, maybe? she thought, watching the fish tail. "In the meantime, I'd really like to hear about your story! Why's your father such a tyrant?"

Lorelei twirled her hair and listened to the other girl talk, not feeling in the mood to reply. Her stomache growled fero=iously as she heard her mention food. She was, indeed, starving.
Lorelei inclined her head regally when she heard the other girl ask if she wanted food, but otherwise stayed silent. She really was getting a bit too light headed, unable to focus well.
