Ive allready replyed to this queation in the
MY BETA BABY topic but just in case, here it is again ^__^ "You could put a soft net around the filter intake to baffle the current( bettas long fins make it hard for them to swin agenst currents) and prevent damage to his fins. Also are you sure it is the filter that is damageing his fins?
There are many different ways a betta can damage its fins, be it on plastic plants, sharp bits of gravel, tail biting, or ripping them on sharp edges on caves and hidy-holes. If I had a pictue of the tank, I may be able to point out any other potentialy harmfull objects and help you keep your betta happy and healthy,
Also for the torn fins, be sure to keep his water extre clean with 50% watter changes every week and adding aquarium salt to prevent infection to the exposed tissue.
Being new to this guild, I shuld let every one kow that bettas are definatly my department as far as care, illnesses, genetics , behavior and the like. I also have a team in Bakersfield CA . We just got the forums up if any one would like to join .
Best of luck with your boy froggy06m
