This country is dying. It's heading back to the Dark Ages. I say we all either start a revolution or leave the country to kill itself. Of course I pity the children the most though.

christians will never drop it. they are convinced that the answer to everything is "i don't know why he made it that way, he just did, and since i am right, you are wrong" not necassarily in those exact, or even alike words, but i see most christians argue all their points with that... read my thread "The Bible" currently stranded in the recycle bin of the chatterbox. one guy on the last page makes this arguement with a unique flare of stupidity.

Creationists may be hard to influence, but we can influence open-minded people. If we can erode the idea that it is okay to let people believe what they want, it may help in removing Creationism.
I think we all agree that tolerance is necessary in a peaceful society, but I don't think any of us agree that people should be allowed to believe things which are wrong. There's just no merit in it.

The thing is, people will believe what they hear the most of.
They hear "God made the earth", the Basic Creationism Theory
They hear "We came from monkeys", what most people think the basis of evolution is. It isn't, and sounds ridiculous. The basis of evolution is "Through a certain timeline, a species will become different due to genes that help animals who can survive reproduce, while weaker genes are eliminated."
We came from monkeys doesn't describe anything, which is why most people believe in creationism.

Remember that at one time, everyone was a creationist of some sort. The majority soon realised that they were wrong. Culture needs to be influenced so that more importance is placed on the truth than blind faith in worthless ideas.

Tolerance is definently needed to suceed in anything. We may need violence at times but not over theories like Darwinism and Creationism. A big problem is that the Creationists out their that are REALLY radical about it tend to hurt people because they aren't a part of what they believe.
I had a fight with a good friends today *names sara* about this during my German class... She kept saying things from the bible *as usual* and she even ended up saying that Darwin even said that his theory was false on his death bed *Is that true??*.... ne ways.... I wish the conservative Creationists would just leave us Darwinists alone. I always get picked on at school..... like by the jocks and stuff....

darwin said his theory was not complete. he stated that he had no clue in hell how an eyeball would have evolved, because, according to him, the eyelid, which is seperate from the eye, would not of evolved without something to be a lid for, and the eye would not have evolved without a lid to keep it clean and protect it, otherwise it would be damaged too easily. makes sense, but there are some animals without eyelids.

We aren't Darwinists. Darwinism is a belief that only the strong surivive, therefore it is important to be strong. (I think).
We aren't evolutionists. (At least I hope not). That would imply thay we believe in the theory of evolution. That is unscientific. The theory of evolution simply has a massive amount of evidence backing it up, and therefore is the only extant theory which can adequately describe how the multidinuous forms we see came to exist on the Earth.
If anything, we are scientists, becuse we judge things to be true based on empirical evidence and logical coherence.
