So! What do you think this is?
  AAAHHH It's a chupacabra!
  No, it's something besides chupacabra.
It's just a wild dog. No need to get worked up.

Apparently some crazy hunting lady in Texas found a strange animal that had been sucking the blood of her chickens. She claims it's a "chupacabra" (lit. "goat-sucker"), a creature of Mexican/Central American lore. However, this doesn't coincide with the "spiny alien" image that the chupacabra has been given throughout the ages. If you want to know more, Wiki can give you a basic look at sightings and such.

The news report is here:

Another question just occurred to me: If it's not a chupacabra, what are we dealing with? Vampiric dogs? Hellhounds? Who knows?

The picture of the 'chupacabra' she's holding looks a lot like one I saw on another website about hoaxs. And if it is the same picture it wasn't meant to be the chupacabra but some sort of genetic monster created by the government.

It looks sort of like a pig with the front end of a dog.

I'll have to see if I can find the site again.

looks like a hairless dog, but it's probably a fake, or just a well a hairless feral dog.

If you could, that'd be very helpful. Seeing as this was posted by at least semi-credible news people at Yahoo!, I'd say some busting might be in order. stare

It may be just a hairless dog, but according to the news report, there are/were quite a few of them. I dunno...You'd think someone would have noticed earlier if a new breed of wild dog had been around for a while. I know it takes a while to do taxonomy and the like, but...I dunno. Three mutants all with the same fluke seem a bit unlikely (unless they were all in the same litter...). Something feels a bit "off," definitely.

From what I heard they were all from the same litter. Apparently the local athorities found a den or something.

Did you happen to catch the episode on Monsterquest last wednesday about that creature? It was extremely interesting, although the evidence ended up being pretty inconclusive sweatdrop Here's a link to part one if anyone's interested, it was actually a really good episode!

But apparently there has been more than one carcass found, so I highly doubt that any of this was a hoax. Since the show never really explained it, I definitely don't think it's the chupacabra, but I most certainly don't think it's a fake photo .
