The land of the Motoujamii was so much warmer than usual today, the sun beat down upon the golden dunes of the dessert while the odd cloud that scattered across the sky caused a shadow and a brief moment of shade.
Everything seemed so peaceful...and in the young males presence, probably more so.

Damu, the first born son of Lord Kavuasi and nephew of the current King, took great pleasure in simply strolling around the pridal lands of his ancestors.
His blue eyes wandering over every sight his home had to offer, smiling to himself...it was very odd to see a Firekin smile, but then again, he'd never had the typical tempermant befitting a pride member...especially not as a cub.
The memory continued to linger, his mother introducing him to her slave...and the feeling of something not being right.
It'd made his mother quite angry at him for disagreeing with the keeping of slaves, but...it just never felt right to him keeping something against it's will.

He'd grown from the cub he used to be, he was a large, muscle bound adult and yet never lifted a claw against any of the old slaves...he had barely met any of the new ones.
Maybe this day would change that.

The male was starting to feel old, he had heard that his daughter had managed to birth six healthy cubs though he had not met one of them. He had spent his days in the den recently wondering when Kijinga would be back from hunting. She seemed to be off all over the place recently and the old lion missed his mate. It seemed life was moving so much faster then he would have realised.

He had never really met many of his neices or nephews either but as his brown eyes landed on a shape so far away, if you took away the big red mane he would have said it was his sister. He looked so much like his mother that Teleka had no problems going towards the male. He had an odd feeling that he met him when he was a young cub but that was such a long time ago that there were details he couldn't remember.

"Hello." He spoke softly, after all he was almost certain the male was family, their colours matched. He had to be family and Teleka looked enough like his sister that if he was wrong the strange male would know almost instantly.

The large, but younger male turned his head to look at the older one, pausing his steps before he took a moment to aknowledge him and try and find any familiarity in this new face.
However after a few moments, the recognition set in, not with the lions face but the fact his scent was so close to that of his mothers and he had the same colour pelt and pinstripes as his mother had.
He smiled and took a step or so towards him.

"Hello, uncle." He was making a totally wild guess, as he already knew he had a female cousin and his mother had said she had a brother...so she was going to guess this was him.
And if he was wrong...well...he'd just have to wait and see what this male would do.

As was starting to become accustomed, two female slaves were roaming the lands with little-to-nothing better to do while their masters occupied themselves. The slighter of the two, Kimeti's own slave, Meilin, was in a particularly foul mood. She bore fresh claw marks on her hide near her ear, after daring to push the King's patience a touch too far. If not for the sand she'd gotten in it earlier she wouldn't care. As it was she'd had to ask Uuo to help her clean it out or risk irritation and possible infection.

Speaking of whom, the much larger of the two slaves (she even rivaled the females of the firekin themselves. Meilin had yet to find out where exactly Uuo hailed from, or if all those from her region were equally as large) was marveling over her friend's injury. Meilin hardly spoke, so she wondered how the former Mistweaver managed to vex the king so badly that he actually lashed out at her. Oh but what she almost wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall and find out what Meilin was really made of behind that calm mask of hers. She'd be a strong ally to help rally the others when Kidondo finally returned, but for now, even Meilin had to be kept in the dark about Uuo's purpose there. It was a good sign. Meilin was perhaps the sharpest lioness that Uuo had ever come by, aside from No, Kidondo's mate, and she was oblivious to Uuo's intent. Not that Uuo doubted her own skill mind you.

"It's hotter than usual." Uuo complained, simply. That was how Meilin knew for sure that the lioness was speaking truth, because she so seldom ever spoke without either profane words, or long winded sarcasm.

"That it is. Which is surely the reason they've sent us away." As punishment. Endure the heat and repent their silver tongues, so to say. She really didn't care. She'd endured worse.

Settling down on her haunches, Meilin stopped where she stood in the sand.

"Let's rest here a bit, Uuo."

"Hm...."

Teleka looked at the male and as the male had assumed they were of a relation, then it must have been so.

"I am sorry m'boy I can't remember your name. I haven't seen you since you were tiny." He had seen all the cubs when they were cubs, at least he thought he did. He was trying to remember the name when a sound caught his ears. He turned to look at the dunes around them. He noticed two strangers and they were strangers, neither looked as if they belonged here and a small snarl rose into Teleka's throat.

"Who are you?" He called out to the two strangers, they were quite far away but he was sure they would hear, even if they didn't hear what he said he wanted to make sure they knew who was near by. Teleka had turned into a very grumpy old lion and would have no problem telling slaves off.

Ilahle was exploring away from the family den once more. She could only hunt so many sandlizards and rockrats and bugs before she got bored. Ditto with resting by her dear mother's side and playing with her siblings. Those were things she knew like the back of her black little paw - and her inquisitive nature demanded she look around and meet the others in their pride.

She'd passed others as she padded along and just said hello. So while she was walking along, that's what she did to the group she was rapidly gaining on...if they were friendly or interesting she may stop.

Successful Edit

Damu smiled softly at the older male and he was about to remind him of his name, before he was taken aback slightly by the snarl the old codger gave and turned his head to look at what had started such an angry sound from his uncle.
Two slaves...uh oh, he furrowed his brows in a sort of weakness as he watched them before he heard his uncle asking who they were.
Wait...maybe they weren't slaves...maybe they were just passing through, yeah, that's right, just strangers passing through.

And while his uncle dealed with the two, he turned and noticed the small black form of a pride sister and offered the small female a friendly smile.
Quite unbecoming of a Firekin, again, but she was a pride member and a young one so it was a big exception.

"Hello there little one, what's your name?"

Meilin noticed the Firekin just seconds too late, growling discreetly under her breath after a glance over her shoulder.

Uuo muttered likewise, irritated at being yelled towards, but since he didn't order them to come over, she simply answered back.

"Figures of your imagination. What do you think, genius, we're slaves."

"Uuo, do you -have- to cause trouble everywhere you go? Honestly!" She hissed to the female, scratch marks still irritated. Yet she didn't move, not unless instructed to or made to.

Teleka had noticed the cub but it only made him sound more vicious towards the slaves and ugly ones they were at that.

"Come here then and learn to keep that mouth shut." He snapped at them, after all he didn't like slaves very much, not since Aleu. He then turned to look at the cub and nearly mistook her for a cub he had seen when his own were mere cubs. Maybe it was a sibling or something. Either way he had no reason to say anything to her for the time being.

As the male waited for the cubs answer, his ears swivelled back at the sound of his uncle's vicious words towards the females and winced slightly.
Dammit, they were slaves after all and he momentarily smiled at the cub once more.

"Hold on a minute, young one." He said before turning and making his way to stand near Teleka, brows furrowing as he watched the two females and then his uncle before he cleared his throat and contemplated his next choice of words.

"Uncle...maybe it wouldn't be wise to expose any violence infront of the younger members of the pride just yet." He said, ears perking forward curiously to see if those words would actually work.

"Bunch of lazy asses." Uuo muttered under her breath as she got up again, tail lashing uneasily. She glared the Firekin down defiantly, but did close their distance, no hint of shame or fear in her stride. Let him hit her if he wanted, he'd find her spirit wouldn't be crushed so easily, nor her defiant will to stay unbroken. The only reason she put up with this crap at all was bearing the greater cause in mind, and the smug satisfaction she knew she'd have when that rebellion (hopefully) finally came.

Meilin glowered, moving with Uuo and keeping a silent watch on the situation, saying nothing either way on the matter. Her eyes drifted to the cub, wondering. She didn't doubt the Firekin would see it as perfectly acceptable to display violence in front of their youth, it was probably seen as a good lesson, leading by example, however, what would or wouldn't come today was yet to be seen.
