I assume it'd likely be the dominant one inthe relationship keeping their name, but it's not uncommon for some people to keep their names after being married.

What gets REALLY confusing is when they both take the OTHER'S name.

I was thinking about taking my girlfriend's name cause I asked her about this one day. And she said she'd keep her name. I like her name, and I want to take her name if we ever get married, but uhh yahh it would get kinda confusing.
"May I introduce Mrs. and Mrs. Blah" sweatdrop

"May I introduce Mrs. and Mrs. Blah" sweatdrop yeah I can see how that could get confusing, but I think you should discuss it and decide what name to keep in each individual case.

Well, my GF and I decided that when we get marrid we'll hyphenate both our last names together.
Maeve Allen + Jasmine Terrell = Maeve Allen-Terrell + Jasmine Allen-Terrell
She wanted the Allen to come first because she wants our children to be at the front of the alphabet on graduation day so she doesn't have to sit through all those names being called out.

If you consider the name-taking, it's all just based on tradition, and even a hetero couple could chose to take the wife's name, or whatever. I agree that it's on an individual-couple basis.

Any name, if I were gay, would be better than mine. It's so bland . . . Young . . . Blah.

Ooo, it would be super cool to make up a new last name, something crazy. Like out of a Roald Dahl book or some other silly book biggrin
And if I had a kid, it would be named Basil. Or Thyme.

I would totally make up a new last name!!! That sounds like so much fun! Or I would just choose the name I liked best. I think hyphenated names are confusing and long.
