This is a little different than the other thread titled Childhood . Anyways, on with a story: Everytime I go to the children section of a clothing store, I've always gotten that hint of nostaglia every time because of the little girls' Sunday dresses my eyes catch. I remember when I was little, I used to be girly and had A LOT of those poofy Sunday dresses I wore on special occasions. And then I became a tomboy through most of my childhood until my high school years (I'm 16 now) when I discovered lolita fashion when I was 14. I'm still a little tomboyish, but definitely more feminine than I have been in years. And when I gaze at those little girls' dresses, it makes me wish I had them in my size and body shape (well proportions are different when we get older, vrai?). That's my story, but feel free to tell your own and post pictures. I don't want to get in trouble with the mods, so I think it's best just to post links or thumbnnails. Here are mine: I think I was four <---Oh my God! I had a hime-cut! I think I was 2My first birthday! My brother and IMaman et Moi! I think I was...5. My God, I miss that coat and mom misses her hair

It's funny I have the same story with being a tomboy and then being feminine. Pretty much since I could pick out my own cloths I've dressed like a dude (up till the last like 5 years or so, late middle school, early HS). It's funny because (and I used ot have a picture of this one), there's this one picture of me on my first b-day, and I have on a pretty frilly dress that was white. But I smeared chocolate cake all over it, and all over my face and such. Good times. 3nodding

It's the same for me! But when I was young my mother was given lots of frilly lacy dresses for me to wear as gifts and I didn't enjoy wearing them too much.. (I think I liked to go nude o.o) then as I got older I was a tomboy until highschool. Now I switch back and forth bewteen boyish and lolita.. I don't think elitists would approve, but I like being flexible.

I guess you could still say that. My face isn't as round as it used to be and I look a little Eurasian since I'm a little taller than the average Asian and my eyes are round instead of the usual slant. I wish I had more recent pictures of me, but I don't have many uploaded. I'm really no camera-whore.

If you ask me, I've found that a lot of Lolitas started out a bit tomboyish before they discover their love of the Lifestyle and Fashion. When i was little, my mom dressed me up in some cutesy outfits, then I went semi-tomboyish and refused to wear pink in Gradeschool, then when i got into Middleschool, I became a bit more feminine, and now I'm cutesy and feminine all the way. I, too used to hate bangs because i had them until 3rd or 2nd grade, then i grew them out. Now I love 'em because they look so good on me. I'll see if i can scan some of my pictures. I have my most recent school picture, then I have one from Kindergarten, but it's framed. I'll look through my photo albums and see what I can find.

Yeah, I also met some who were into (western) goth and some were into anime and manga a lot (like me) before finding out about lolita.

I was an avid manga and anime fan before I discovered Lolita. When I found out about it, I was instantly in love with how cute everything was. My mom had bought me the manga because I saw it advertised, and my birthday was soon. So, I had to have the movie and novel as well. After I watched the movie, I subconsciously decided that I wanted to be a Lolita. Now, I look back on it, and I'm so glad everything happened the way it did. Now, i wear Lolita more freely, because when my mom and dad were still living together and married, I didn't want to wear it so much, because my dad had made fun of my the first time I made a headdress. I admit that my first headdress was a disaster, so I'm glad I perfected it. And, so, now i make them a lot better and wear it more because my best friend's family loves it and says I look cute in it. They don't consider me weird because Neal, Danielle's stepdad, is a pirate, so what "normal" people think is weird, he considers normal. So, I share a lot of my thoughts and dreams with them. Such as, I showed them my dream dress, and they said they hope I can reach my goal because I would look cute in it. /rant
So, with that said, in many ways, us Lolitas are extremely similar, and we need to stick together, and when one of us strays a bit, others need to guide her/him back to the right path. (I hope that didn't sounds rude...)
