Okay, I'm working on a long GW fanfic, and I'm on chapter 5, unless I miscounted, but I'm only displaying chapter 1 as a teaser for now:
It was Duo Maxwell’s 18th birthday party. The Gundams hadn’t been gone for that long, and he didn’t miss them at all. The war was over, and they could finally celebrate. Everyone was at the party. Relena had come with Heero as her date. Hilde was right there beside him. Catherine and Trowa had come with videos of their latest circus act. Lady Une and Milliardo were late, but on their way. Quatre had arrived. Dorothy, Marimaia, and even Wufei had come also. Sally was late, but that was because she had forgotten to get Duo a present, not that the braided ex-pilot really needed one, considering how many already piled high to the ceiling in front of the table where a large birthday cake was set. Noin was with Sally. There were a few others at Relena’s party. Relena’s adoptive mother as well as some friends were there. Some ex-Oz soldiers and preventers even showed up for a surprise visit. Duo had walked in earlier for a surprise. He had no idea anyone even knew it was his birthday. He didn’t even know it was his birthday. That’s because Heero had tapped into some files and came up with an estimate of just when Duo’s birthday really was. They were celebrating it as close to accurate as possible. Duo was having a blast. He was indeed terribly excited. Then it came time to open his presents. He had a feeling he wouldn’t be using most of them, considering how many there were and how big they were, but he wanted to know what was in them anyways. Heero’s present to him was the smallest one there. It fell off of the top of the pile right onto Duo’s head. The braided boy picked up the gift and opened up the card. “Your mission: Get it open…” was all the card said. Duo looked around for Heero. “What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked. Heero didn’t respond. He just stood there glaring at Duo. The ex-Deathscythe pilot unwrapped the gift, only to discover that the box didn’t seem to have an opening. “Yea sure, give me a challenge on my big day why don’t ya,” Duo growled and tucked the gift into his pocket. “I thought you wanted me to have a sense of humor,” Heero said and smirked. “Yea, well you’re humor’s cruel,” Duo said. Relena folded her arms “Don’t be so mean, Heero! What did you get him?” Heero whispered into Relena’s ear what Duo’s present was. Relena raised her eyebrows at him. Duo picked up a present from the pile. It had a card. Neither the gift nor the card said who the gift was from. On the envelope was written “Open at midnight.” Duo tossed the present back onto the pile. He picked up the gift from Dorothy and Marimaia. “Wait, don’t open that yet!” Marimaia said. Duo was beginning to get a little irritated at having all these presents but not being able to open them. “So what present can I open first?” Duo asked. Hilde giggled and brought Duo her present. “You’ve got to open mine first,” she said. “Works for me,” Duo said with a big grin on his face as he opened the present. Inside the box was a knife with a beautifully carved handle. The blade has Duo’s name engraved in it, and the handle had Hilde’s name engraved on it in small letters that Duo didn’t even notice at the moment. “Wow, Hilde! This is so cool! Thanks!” Duo exclaimed. “You’re welcome, Duo,” Hilde said and smiled at him. Duo had opened all his presents and was eating his birthday cake when the late arrivers finally arrived. Noin had to turn down the music that was up as loud as it could get before anyone even noticed they had walked inside. “Happy Birthday, Duo,” she said and handed Duo his present from her. “Thanks, I’ll open these tomorrow,” Duo said and yawned. He was tired, and half of the people at his party had left already. Heero, Relena, Hilde, Quatre, and Trowa were staying the night, but the rest would be leaving soon. Duo left the radio off. It was obvious that everyone was getting tired and didn’t want to listen to loud music anymore, and he really didn’t feel like listening to anything slow that would put him to sleep. The present that said not to open till midnight was ticking, and he was really eager to know what it was, but the ticking didn’t sound like a bomb so he didn’t feel there was any threat. Finally midnight came. The ticking in the box had gotten louder. Duo was visibly freaked out as he grabbed the box and ran outside. He was wondering if he should really open it, or if he should throw it. He decided to open it. There was a flash of light and something that looked like pink smoke flew out of the box at the ex-Gundam pilot. Duo quickly covered his mouth, but it was too late. Everything went white, then black.

I actually decided not to do that fanfiction. I did another one instead. I might save this chapter though do something else with it, but probably not.
