In my opinion, Lily was alright - smart, pretty and talented - but if I were Lily I would have given Severus at least a chance to redeem himself. She didn't even give him a chance. She didn't even try to understand that he was embaressed and furious at James and company, and that he accidently lashed out at her, and that he whole-heartedly didn't mean what he said. True it would probably changed the character of the Severus that we love but he still deserved the chance.

helloooooooooo!!! to just allow lily to forgive severus would TOTALLY go against herr character. Gryffindor= PROUD! She probably wanted to make up with him better, but shes way tooooo proud. duh.

she probably felt betrayed since she considered him a friend. he never said such things in front of her. she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think she was probably a bit stubborn, and eventually forgave him but didn't want to admit it. Which goes back to the Gryffindor=proud thing.

true enough, but pride is a sin. to me to think she was so proud it makes her snooty. Slytherins are full of pride too, possibly more proud than Gryffindors. plus i saw more bravery than pride in the gryffindor house than i saw pride.and true should could have forgiven him and never said but She easily could have blocked it from her mind, or even took it out of her mind, cast it away, and move on with life, too.
i view the houses like this:
Humble Hufflepuffs
Respectful Ravenclaws
Gutsy Gryffindors
&
Smug Slytherins

shes a chick. Its impossible for us to not be proud, dont you guys get it? If she didnt have that pride, she would never have excelled in school or become head girl.

If I was her I would, but even if she was so proud and unforgiven then why did she forgive James for all his stupid little stunts? I mean I would be more mad at a guy for picking on my friend then my friend that wanted to hang out with a bad crowd, I actually was about to beat the crap out of this football jock for messing with my friend. And she should've known that he would come back to her, they always do. Either Snape would've grown tired of the Death Eater stuff, or realized that they are bad and he should have no part in so, or just come to figure that Lily was right from the beginning.
I wish that they would have gotten together but then if they did we wouldn't have any Harry Potter, or Severus Snape. It's kinda of like Final Fantasy 8 if Laguna would've went with the other woman then we would have no Squall. It's a win lose stitutation, but now Snape is happy with Lily and his job is done. ((Maybe they'll hook up in the spirit world mrgreen *joking* James would punch him)).

I have (some) pride but would have forgiven him easily. She was just being way too stubborn, James on the other hand i would never have forgiven ever. mrgreen

I would have been mad for a day or so but i would have defiantely would have forgiven him! We all say things we don't mean wihen we're mad, upset, or embaressed! I said to my friend on the phone about Snape, ' i believe it's takes a great deal of strength to give all and die but i think it takes a hell of a lot more to give it all up and continue living, as Snape has!" I mean he gave it up on the chance that Dumbledore could protect Lily/ the potters -believing that it was Dumbledore they'd let be their secret-keeper. so in some sense he gave his his will to Dumbledore with that goal in mind for not. but since he is a man of his word he keep his promised and continued doing Albus's will. A great man - great man.

I cant seem to make up my mind on this topic, I mean yeah, I'd be really mad if he called me that... and he DID call everyone else like her that, but I still think that maybe she should have given him a second chance, it WAS obvious that he really regretted it, and that he would give anything to be with her. oh god, this is making me cry T___T

Just from reading these responses, it makes me think that almost everyone on Gaia but me lives in a closet and has NO FREAKING IDEA about human behaviour. Ugh. its RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!

I would give Snape a second change but perhaps she did not want to because she did not like the fact that his friends might be death eaters
