How about the 2% cut
  I think it will work.
Its only going to add inflation.
  Only time will tell...

How do YOU feel about it? A lot of people are in uproar about it, very angry for many reasons.
1. Gaia promised to never have control of gaia economy. Which is true, but I have to say 'what cuts inflation, cuts inflation.'

2. People think that it will only raise inflation. Which may very well happen at first, while people frantically raise their prices to make up for their 2% loss. But eventually, it will help, as the cut will take more gold out of the system. And as gold as taken out, the value of gold changes, and the price of items will come down.

3. Most people are angry that their exchanging business is hurt, and they can no longer "Buy low, sell high". Which.. is true, I suppose. The exchange forum is also another alternative.

But some people are so angry that their quitting gaia. I don't understand these people. This may be just me - but I never thought of exchanging or becoming super rich the only reason for being on gaia. Sure, being rich is nice, but is there NO other reason for someone to stay?

Its just silly. :/
I think anyone who doesn't like any part of the site enough besides the exchange, deserves to leave, honestly.

So, whats your take on this?

I'm a little upset because I [had] paid the 1000 gold to work in the market place, and I like to discount things because I am normally selling stuff I got from Daily Chance.

I would inflate my prices to make up for the cut that they are taking, because that means I am selling 20 tokens for less, but at the same time I am don't want to be bothered with finding out what the inflated price is when I can't even figure out what is half of 75 some times.

I don't think that people should leave gaia because of it, because the Market place isn't even a main part of gaia, it's interacting with the people.

Yeah, I also figured a lot of people would be too lazy to calculate to make up for their 2% loss.
I know I would be D:

On the bright side, you'll get your 1k back neutral

I agree with the last part. I still believe the people are the most important part of the site, people have become so greedy and obsessed with making their avatar the best and most expensive looking.

It kinda bugs me that they would do this. The only thing that changes for me is that I'm going to sell my things in the exchange forum rather than in the market place. Which sucks but I'm not going to lose gold over it.

Can you imagine having an item that is the most expensive on Gaia and can't sell it in the market place because you'll lose a BIG portion of what it is worth? I find this thing stupid.

Another thing I don't like about the new market place is the "luxurious items" and "items you might like" windows. WTH are those? ><

I don't really like the 2% cut. I hate inflation and all that stuff, but the Marketplace is how I earn money. Of course I'm not going to quit because of this (that's ridiculous XD), but I am upset. I'll do what Jewelschan is going to do too, go to the exchange. A Halo that costs about 350mil, you lose 7mil on the MP O_O. That just sucks D:. But I don't see anyone selling Halos in the MP since no one is rich enough XD. But it IS a huge loss.

HOPEFULLY it will cut inflation by a lot. I remember a few days ago (maybe 5?) I looked up the price of a Bammi Hat, and 1 - 2 days later it inflated to 100k.

Well this is beta for a reason. They're looking for opinions in the guild they set up. No doubt that there are plenty of people making their voices heard.

I really don't spend that much time selling my items anyway. Generally, when I do I just want them out of my inventory and into someone else's hands.
I agree, the system of the gaia economy is a hectic world and I'm glad I'm not apart of it. The cutting of the income will be nice if it will change some of the crazy minds of people after virtual money.

It won't... with anything, there will be more hacking.

Yeah, most items like Halos, AFKs, Devil Tails, and many other big items are sold in the exchange anyway. Most people don't have the pure gold it takes to buy those, and are often traded with a combination of other items equaling their worth. So there isn't really much change on that part.
But the way I see it, which is probably biased anyway, if you just sold a Devil Tail in the mp for 10 million(a little less than what its worth), then, true, you lost 200k. Which to the average user, that is a lot to lose. But someone who is buying and selling items with values well into the millions, how much could that 200k really be worth to them?
I dunno :/
I'm like PastinBlood. Items I don't want I usually just sell back to the store because I'm lazy. And stuff like Flowers and trash I just give away xD

As Kattitina I sold tokens in the market place because I know people like them and want them, and it never cost me anything to sell them low because I got them for free. Now, however, I'll have to sell more tokens to get the amount I normally would. When I sold other items such as my Dragon dress or my Sari's, I sold them for the mid price between the sell and buy in the stores. I think, however, if I did that on the new market place I would be receving the store price of the items when I would sell them back to the stores.

Now that does really suck and I know where you're coming from. In the end, it costs you more than 1k to use the market place. =
PostPosted: Thu Aug 23, 2007 2:56 pm

Yeah. If you're going to have a market place gold sink, I think having a higher price for the lisence would make a lot of people happier. Maybe like 5k. Also, someone suggested a different way of taxing, like every so often pay like 250g-500g to have your lisence renewed, which might also make people happier.
But as for decreasing inflation, I still think the 2% is the way to go.

Some of their gold sinks are getting ridiculous. Like the possibility of them doing away with the fee to make a guild - RIDICULOUS. Stupidest idea ever.

We'll just have to see what happens... They've got a reason for everything and I don't blame them. The users can't be trusted. Did you see how they treated the guests on here? You know the wrestling thing?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:33 pm

I only briefly heard/read about it. But yeah, some people were really freaking rude, I almost couldn't believe it. But that -RKO- guy, I'm convinced is more than just a normal user :/

A lot of users were like "There not thinking this through!" "They don't know what they're doing!"
But I honestly think that it probably took quite some time and some brain power between the mods to come up with this, so I feel I have to trust it.
Most people are just upset about the losses their going to have - not looking at the bigger longer scheme of this.

You never know really but it doesn't matter. They should be nice to those people none the less. It horrible to see people act that way.

I doubt they release anything they haven't planned through. Either way it IS a gold sink. However, it is a tricky one and no one is going to be happy about it. Who gets happy about taxes? These taxes don't do anything for us either. =//
