my upper left arm has been hurtin alot for a while now, its mainly when im playin triplets with my left hand or when i play for an extended amount of time with just the left.
could this be a problem? just a little concerned.....
btw i play bass drum

I play crash cyms. on the line and my whole part for two songs is just holding up the cyms for the snares to hihat or suspended cym. my arms kill after every practice. (Im a girl, im allowed to not be buff... corse... i guess thats not true cuz i play cums... i had better get me some more arm muscles) sweatdrop
as for your pains... uh, never a good thing. I would prolly let off of that arm for a wile, be nice to it if i was you.

haha i remember playin cymbals for fall last year, marched a parade that was about a mile long, just playin em like a hi hat the entire time, felt like my arms were gonna fall off when i was done lol
ya im jsut kinda concerned cuz its jsut my left arm and i dont think its muscle building pain lol....

I was experiencing soreness in my wrists and hands for a few days from playing bass drum/gong combined parts back-handed. The problem was that even when I wasn't doing anything, my hands and wrists still felt strained. It's not doing it constantly anymore, but I can't help but feel a little concerned.
As for arm soreness, it could be that you're building muscle. I felt stuff like that when I was marching trumpet and mellophone.

it may be muscle building, i dunno....
this years gonna suck tho, we have two new freshman in the bass line, one whos commited and one whos not, and if youve ever marched bass drum you kno you cant have one uncommited person on the line. i dunno what were gonna do with him.....
but we got a enw BD this year and noone likes her.... our BD last year said he was leaving for school to get a masters degree in music, but went to teach at another school.....
ya... were kinda screwed this year...

We have a bass drum this year who hasn't showed up for a few practices. He almost got kicked out.
