It's one of those old shows that will never die. And it's been the inspiration of many other shows, as well as many videogame characters.
Heck the whole Street Fighter/2 cast were clones from Dragon Ball. (And the techs... Kame-hadoken!)
All in all, and despite (or thanks to?) the many filler episodes it has, it's a show that has most of the things one looks for in anime: Action, comedy, drama, stuff getting blown up, nudity (unless you only saw the dub, and I don't mean only Goku, who does get naked as a kid a bit too often) and a plot. Yep, it had a plot.
Also, the three series had a lot of teaching behind them. They mainly focus in family values, friendship, and not giving up even when all odds are against you (unless you're Yamcha, of course. rofl )
My favorite characters are:
Dragon Ball: Tao Pai Pai, Muten Roshi/Kame Senin, Launch and Goku.
Dragon Ball Z: Vegetta, Freezer, Buu, Roshi and Goku.
Dragon Ball GT: Bebi, Pan, One Star Dragon and Gogeta. Oh, and Goku, of course.
Favorite arcs:
Dragon Ball: Red Ribbon war, Piccoro Daimaoh and the battle of Piccoro Jr. vs. Goku.
Dragon Ball Z: Freezer arc, and the Buu saga after Babidi dies (First time I saw his death made me respect Buu a lot more than I had thus far.)
DBGT: Bebi's saga and the Dark Star Dragons saga (most of the series, I guess...)
So... Anyone else likes this one?

Yeah, I've liked dragonballz for over 5 years at least. I'm currently watching though it all over again!
I should have started at Dragonball But I'll do that afterwards.
My favorite characters are Gohan and Piccolo. Their just so cool, expecially Gohan, which was suppose to be the main antagonist of DBZ but noooo damn fanservice.
DragonballGT was just a waist, I didn't even bother watching most of it. stressed

I actually never thought highly of Gohan myself. He was never much of a warrior to begin with, but it wasn't really his fault. Chichi may be the character I dislike more in the whole Dragon Ball saga (from DB to DBGT) because of her attitude.
"Gohan, no saving the world until you finish your homework!" Like, kid needs a world to study at, hag. Get a grip already. rolleyes
As for GT... The whole first arc could be done without. The whole "Goku travels around and meets new friends" thing was already done in DB.
Piccoro... I wish he could've kept on powering up along with the others. Maybe that Kuriccoro fusion joke should've really happen. The mere thought of a green-skinned, Makanko-throwing Krillin lookalike beats any of the fusions that did happen.
I remember someone mentioned the fusion to end all fusions in one of my old forums... "Chilma" or "Buchi." I mean, those two keep the two strongest warriors of the universe under their boots, imagine what they could do when fused! rofl

Eh, I was never too big of a fan of Dragonball Z and (never for that matter xDD) a fan of GT, but I always like Dragonball.

Just because Hadoken is like the Kame-wave doesn't mean the characters are based on DBZ characters. Hell a lot of fighting games base there characters off Ryu.

Yeah that fusion would be pretty weird. But it seemed after Gotenks nobody got stronger, they just used fusion after fusion to get stronger. Pretty retarded to say the least. xP
Yeh, I hate Chi Chi also, she was such a pain, but Gohan had so much untapped potential that if he would have trained after Cell, trained with vegeta maybe, cuz he was the last sayian worth anything after that. He could have been the strongest fighter EASY. eek

I actually find ChiChi kinda amusing but oh wells.
The thing about Dragonball (any series) is that they say it takes five minutes before Goku lands on Earth or sumthing and they stretch it over 3 episodes. And another funny thing i found is that when they transform and scream or shout, they do it for half an episode, lol.
other than that i love the show. i heard a live action for dragonball is going to be on next year. i wish leonardo decaprio would be trunks if this is true. they look so alike. ><

I love the original dragon ball...not funimations version. It is so hilarious. I never did really like GT..except for the Super Saiyan IV powers where he looks like a red monkey. But I hate that Gohan never changed. he did increase his powers but never went to III. I love the movies though...the best one is where they fight off the zombies...

Ryu Mibu Just because Hadoken is like the Kame-wave doesn't mean the characters are based on DBZ characters. Hell a lot of fighting games base there characters off Ryu. Sorry, it's just a well-known fact of where Toriyama got his inspiration for character designs. And I don't really meant DBZ, I meant DB. Honda, Dhalsim, Birdie, Gen, they're all lookalikes from DB's budokai fighters. That, and not only the Kamehameha got copied off. The Ryuuken (first used against Piccoro Daimaoh in Dragon Ball) and Nam's skydive attack were also copied by Street Fighter/SF2. Oh, but SF2 wasn't the only one with cameos. Virtua fighter had Tao Pai Pai's twin brother as one of the characters. wink

If he'd kept on training, he would've possibly reached SSJ4 in the Buu battles. Goku said it himself, that Gohan had the potential to be stronger than even him. And also, on fusions... It would've rocked if at least one of the fusions in the show was a real fighter instead of a jerk with superiority complex. Even Gogeta was dumb enough to fool around with a creature that could've destroyed the planet while yawning. And, you know, if Goku had figured using the Genki Dama was the one way to end all evil from the start, then I bet Dragon Ball Z would have lasted like 20 episodes instead of 200+. Freezer: Mwhahaha I am invincible! Goku: Genki Dama! Cell: Now I'll fuse with... Goku: Genki Dama! Buu: Turn into can... Goku: Genki Dama! Chichi: Goku, Gohan needs to study more! Goku: Genki Dama! .... Oops.
