She watched carefully from the densest cover she could find for her chance to slip past the Prideland scouts. Tufah respected them for their work for the Pride, but hated how they tried to stop youngsters like her freely leaving the Pridelands to explore. It was a pain. She wasn't some stumbling bumbling cub who hadn't yet lost it's newborn spots, damnit...
Tufah saw her chance - the scout she was watching seemed to be taing a brief break for a drink or something - and she took it. Running low and fast, she was over the border before she knew it. When she'd gone a way, she slowed down and grinned as she went. Ha!

The mostly grey juve had been wandering alone for such a long time now. He hadn't seen his sister or mother for ages and wondered whether they were even still alive. What happened to them? He hadn't the slightest idea and he was completely clueless but somehow he had made it here, to a pride he had been warned to keep well away from though he still didn't know why.
He hadn't been planning on bumping into anyone, especially not the pride. He didn't know why he wasn't allowed there but his mother had mentioned that it could be dangerous for him and so he sat near the borders watching as scouts seemed to walk the same line over and over again. Looked so boring. So it was somewhat odd when he saw the red female burst from her cover and run. Why was she running away? They were to keep lions out not in surely? He wasn't sure so just watched, after all she was from those lands and could be dangerous.

An interesting scent caught Tufah's attention and for a moment she thought she hadn't been the only one to sneak out this evening. It was definitely a young lion she could smell, male most likely, healthy...but then she realised that he was all she could scent. There was no hint of others - unless it was just because of the distance? - in it. She knew her own fur smelt a bit of her den and her siblings, Tiah and her friend Noyana. And of various Pride nannies and others she couldn't help meeting in the vast Pride (no matter how hard she tried).
So he was a rogue! Slinking around out here at dusk. How interesting. Tufah started to pad in his direction, curious.

He was watching her and her movement towards him made him slightly weary. He was sitting up in the grasses, his blue eyes watching her carefully. His golden dipped paws were hidden by the tall grass and all that could be seen was his grey body and the white markings on his face that had been inherited by an aunt he had never heard about.
He didn't say anything, just watched. It was slowly getting dark and the temperature had already dropped. It wouldn't be long before it was freezing cold and very dark. He loved it at night time, other then his paws he was able to move without being seen like a shadow. Most of the time he was able to use the grass to hide the golden paws of his. Either way, right now he was interested in the run away.

Hm. How to act with this one? There was nothing to be gained with charming a rogue. She tried to be nice to Pridemembers to improve her reputation and gain standing. One day it might pay off after all. But with a rogue there was nothing that suggested she bother...but at the same time, there was nothing to gain from showing her nasty side either. Could end up in a nasty scuffle or alert the scouts to her being out here.
Tricky one to call.
"Hello." Tufah said, as she drew closer to the other youngster, deciding she'd play it by ear. Either way, it was interesting. Noting his wariness, she relaxed her body so her stance was casual. She sat down about a foot from him so they were close enough to talk.

His blue eyes just watched her a while before he even thought of speaking. He wasn't sure what to make of her and still had his mothers warning ringing in his head.
"Hello."
He replied as she had spoken. In a normal case he would have introduced himself and started a conversation but his paranoia was getting the better of him and he wasn't about to tell someone from those lands who he was in case what his mother said was true. He didn't want to die.

Huh. Quiet one isn't he? Just echoed her, and looked a bit shifty. She'd try again.
"My name is Tufah, I live a that pointy rock" - well close enough and if the world was fair, she would be sleeping in the main cave there, as royalty - "with my family."
"Who are you?" She tried a smile, and flicked her tail tip playfully.

"Nuku, my name is Nuku and I am looking for my family. We got separated and I don't know where Zuri is, or mother." He didn't mention anything about the big pointy rock. He was happier ignoring the fact that it even existed for the time being.
"Whats the pride like here?" He wanted to know why he was told to keep away. Were they evil? Dangerous? Murderers? He was curious. After all she seemed really normal and not bad so maybe his mother had got it a bit wrong?

Evil backstabbing betrayers! Stupid, blind fools who scorned traditions, who didn't have reasoning to see blind luck or the foresight to promote twin rulers in past generations. When the throne should have belonged to two kings, if not just Taka by bloodright!
Wonderful, sharing, open balanced...with lush lands and strong lions, where the cubs had nannies and scouts kept them safe. She loved it as much as she hated it.
"Just normal. Friendly, quite relaxed." She shrugged.

Nuku watched her before she answered and then wasn't exactly satisfied with her answer.
"Surely there is more to the pride and then being normal and relaxed?" Otherwise why had his mother told him to keep away? It didn't really make much sense what way he looked at it. Maybe Tufah wasn't telling him everything, which would then explain why his mother hated the place so much.

"Well....the laws of the land have become much more relaxed, my mother says, in recent generations." Tufah shrugged, even though she knew she could rant about the subject for a long time if she wanted. Not that Nuku was likely to understand - not being part of the pride - what it was like.
"So, what's it like being a rogue cub? Aren't you scared out there, alone?"

Nuku just listened and nodded his head, after all there wasn't much to say really, well not until she asked about being a rogue cub.
"Why would you say that? 'Out there' is just like your lands, just mine. It is a lot bigger then yours I guess. It is my home. I don't understand how you would be so happy to stay in lands that are so small when there is a world that is so amazing and wonderful!" Yeah Nuku was getting carried away, especially as he did feel a little lonely without his mother or sister. He missed them so much.

"The security and tradition of the pride - we're protected and help each other. Though that too has declined recently." Tufah should have know he wouldn't understand at all. Ah well, it hardy mattered, did it? She was unlikely to see him again, she thought.

He understood what she was saying but it sounded as if she was trapped.
"Security is somewhat over rated. If you are secure you never meet danger." At least that was how Nuku saw it. He had seen a lot of danger while looking for Zuri and his mother. You can't grow stronger if you have no reason to do so.

"I'll meet danger - and I'll laugh in its face." She said, not with bravado but with true confidence. Tufah was the kind of lioness who'd fight her way if need by, though she much prefered sneaking. Like sneaking over this border.
"Anyway, I'll see you around I guess...I'm off to explore while I have the oppertunity!" She flashed and fangy grin and took off running. Not caring if he followed or not. Rogues were just there to entertain her in her mind unless they cared to join the Pridelands or offered her a little danger to spice up her life.
