Although Star Wars is generally able to give nice endings to plots they have on a couple cases had a few misses, occasioanlly a BIG miss *cough*grievous*cough*.

For me the most anti-climactic moment is the fight against Malak at the end of KOTOR I. though the entire game you are led to believe he some demi-god like badass. Then when you fight him it takes all of 5 seconds to whoop his a**. Although once you do you get treated to one of the best endings ever. Looking back their is always that disappointment at how much of a punk Malak turned out to be.

if you think malak is a punk, you should see his star wars d20 stats. He's not only level 20, he's got extra feats and skill points beyond level 20. In other words: he's stronger than the freaking emperor. Just because you can beat him in five seconds doesn't mean he's weak, but that your overpoweringly strong.

The second fight against dooku in Ep. 3. It took like 30 seconds.

Probably the fall of Anakin, starting with Windu's fight against Palpatine.

-OMG Epic fight scene!-

-ENTER ANAKIN-

ANAKIN: Mace, no! I need him to save my wife from a condition that'll happen to everyone eventually, and I'm a spoiled brat who refuses to accept this! Killing him would be like... actually, kinda like how I killed Dooku at the start of this movie. But you can't kill him 'cause I said so!

MACE: -Goes to kill Palpatine anyways-

ANAKIN: NOOOOO! -Somehow randomly cuts off the hand of a Jedi Master after an amazing fight scene where he kept the Dark Lord of the Sith at bay-

PALPATINE: ...Huh. -Throws Windu out the window-

ANAKIN: NOOOOO! What have I done?!

PALPATINE: Turn to the dark side.

ANAKIN: ...Kay.

-END SCENE-

Does this seem wrong to anyone else?

it does and it doesn't...
in episode 1 anakin showed a semi-strong urge to take his mother with him
(he kind of is whatever about it when she says no but, moving on)
he says he'll come back for her so its not much of a surprise when he tries
at any cost to save her

I gotta agree with Wild on this one. The fall of Anakin was so unconvincing.

I just have my own theory on why Anakin was so easy to convert. In that scene, it is obvious that Palpatine/Sidious was doing SOMETHING to his mind because then Anakin all of a sudden turned into an obedient puppet/minion. And then you see Darth Vader in episodes IV - VI -- he was acting like an obedient lapdog then, too. It's obviously Sidious' influence using the dark side. It would actually make A LOT of sense for a Sith Lord to have their apprentice be a mere puppet who follows them blindly, asks no questions, and can be commanded to do whatever they wish. But it seems that Dooku is the exception . . . He was no Maul or Vader. He retained his personality and decision-making. But, then again, Sidious was never planning on keeping Dooku as his apprentice from the beginning! (Also, Dooku was the oldest of the three: Maul, Vader, Tyranus. Maybe age has something to do with how easy you can be converted?)

Okay, anyway, on to my list of most anti-climatic scenes in Star Wars:

* Jango Fett's death. crying
* Count Dooku's death. crying
* General Grievous' death crying
* The end of KOTOR II

crying Why'd they have to all die? They were my favorite villains! Ah well, at least they'll all have a special place in my heart. wink

the same could be said for the jedi master/apprentice relationship though,
with the exception again being anakin, most apprentices to jedi masters were
obedient to the nth degree and rarely questioned their authoritative figures
i.e. obi-wan to qui-gon and luke to yoda
the second may not be the best example, but the theory is still the same...
an apprentice is supposed to do everything his master teaches/says

and my anti-climactic moment is the destruction of the second death star
they may have had to blow it up differently, but it was still the same concept:
get in shoot the weak spot, get out. i think there could've been something new
to have to get past.

It would be far more climatic if the Rebels had to get INSIDE it, set a bomb, kill any Imperials who would try to stop them, then book it out of there at top speeds. Now THAT would be a climatic ending! 3nodding

haha no doubt
i think it would've been better though if they had written out the second death
star altogether, like with the brain power of the empire i thought that they
would have been able to say "okay, so that didn't work...lets try something
new"
or they would've concentrated a lot more defenses around the shield generator.
which i thought WAS a good idea by the way, because if that hadnt have gone
down, the rebels were cooked

Heh, that makes me think of a quote I found on Wookiepedia:

"That's not what the Empire would have done, Commander. What the Empire would have done was build a super-colossal Yuuzhan Vong-killing battle machine. They would have called it the Nova Colossus or the Galaxy Destructor or the Nostril of Palpatine or something equally grandiose. They would have spent billions of credits, employed thousands of contractors and subcontractors, and equipped it with the latest in death-dealing technology. And you know what would have happened? It wouldn't have worked. They'd forget to bolt down a metal plate over an access hatch leading to the main reactors, or some other mistake, and a hotshot enemy pilot would drop a bomb down there and blow the whole thing up. Now that's what the Empire would have done."

thats usually the way of it though
the bad guys make up some super thing and then it blows up in their faces
because they forgot to look at the last step of the DIY manual

Has anyone seen the Star Wars Robot Chicken special? There was a skit in that that pretty much pointed out the Empire's failings with the Death Stars, I believe. xd
