Surprise, surprise. Little Umlindi was patroling the den again. He paced back and forth at the entrance, growling threateningly at every bug and speck of dust that flitted his way. There was a severe lack of cubs in the Mteo pride, Um being from one of two current litters. The other litter was somewhat older than he and his siblings were, and so he had yet to venture an invite to play a game with any of them. He'd get to it eventually, but for now, he kept to his litter and himself. And, of course, the adults. At that moment, though, neither his mother or father were around. It was a bit disappointing for a little boy who idolized his father to not have him around. Then again, any Shujaa to admire would do just fine by him. He favored the giant white and pink Angu, of course, but all of the warriors of the pride were simply amazing in the little blue boy's eyes. He was to follow in their footsteps some day, after all.

For now, though, he was content with his little make believe world of mosnters trying to get into the den. He had half a mind to hunt down one of his brothers or his sister to join in on the little game, but decided against it, giving it up for flopping on the den floor and staring out at the territory. He didn't like the idea of being idle while there was always something to be done for the pride, so he decided that he wasn't lounging, he was 'observing'. That worked. After all, if he was going to protect this place some day, he would have to know its geography like the back of his paw. So, he watched. And waited.

Kimya yawned once as he rounded a corner of his "new" home. It was strange to refer to a place he'd never actually lkived in as "home" but he could tell his parents were happier here and there were plenty of new members to meet and talk with here. Being only able to talk with your own blood family and two others your entire life didn't exactly provide new and exciting experiences.

Pausing to scratch at an itch, the blue Shujaa--or at least, that was what he considered himself to be (he'd be traned for it all his life)--padded a few more steps before realizing that he was quite clse to his sisters den. His steps faltered and he debated whether or not to turn back. The fact that his sister now had children--and the father someone who Kimya had always looked up to and admired--made the situation a bit uncomfortable for the blue lion.

Sighing and telling himself to get over it, he started up again, pondering what he'd do for the day.

As Um 'observed', a multitude of things unfolded on the Mteo lands. Little native critters went about their daily lives, flitting through the grass as if nothing existed but themselves. The cub was tempted to go out into the day and chase around the bugs that were buzzing so temptingly, but then he'd have to admit that he wasn't actually doing anything. That went against everything he stood for, so he stubbornly stayed glued to the spot, observing and definately not loafing. As he stared out the mouth of the den with a sort of hard glare, a vibrantly blue figure caught his eye. Seeing as the brilliant shade was a sure marker of his family, Um jumped up from his lazy position and took a few steps forward, attempting to identify the lumbering figure before it got closer. The sheer size gave away the gender, and after noting the lack of yellow, it was quite obvious that none other than Uncle Kimya was making his way out into the Mteo lands.

Um fiddled around for a few seconds excitedly, beyond pleased to see a Shujaa, no even better - a related Shujaa. Where he idolized his father, he was also very fond of his uncle and grandfather, partly for their rank and partly for their dark blue ears. Um was the only cub in his litter to have those ears, and for some reason, it filled him with pride. After a few moments of stalling, the little boy surged out of the den with as much speed as his awkwardly young legs could muster, scrambling in the bright day sun towards his uncle. "Uncle Kimya, Uncle Kimya!" He squinted, temporarily blinded by the sudden shock of light, and didn't see the large figure completely until he crashed into the adult's front leg. He landed a couple of paces back with an 'oof'.
