~Setting~ Ten years from now, when the next president has come and gone. After a war has been sorted and peace has made it's way back into our world. Natural catastrophes and calamities have occurred and the world has taken on a new and different shape. Despite the damage science has made a turn for the better and so has man. We have taken the steps and begun to heal the world which was headed to it's end. ~Story~ Fate and Will At times it seems like we as humans can only do so much. That we are limited by the binding chains of time, age, culture, resource etc. Like god or what ever is above our existence has planned ours as well as everyone else's lives. The movements of the universe itself is just the domino-esque script written by a puppeteer. At other times we feel on top of the world. As if the world is at our whim and it would take only a snap or a swift sway of one's hand to make a wish no longer a wish. If only we knew how these two components, fate and will, play the roles in where we end up, what we do, and what happens. A mastery of these components and one could have anything they wanted. Conspiracy In truth, there are people who know these two components. At least enough to know that they actually play a role in their lives. A few tried to explain these components and they were ridiculed or disappeared. A few conspiracy theorists noticed the disappearance of these scientists and they looked into their research. Oddly enough they began to notice that there was no research to be found. Just editorials giving a lack of information on the studies and giving an abundance of criticism. Unfortunately these conspiracy theorists all happened to get into accidents before they could delve further into their investigations. Some died and some received heavy brain damage or went in to a coma as a result. To quote a government official performing an investigation of their accidents. Quote: "It's not like they were heroes. Most of their information was false and proven so. It seems like Fate took care of them."

Rules - These rules stand next to those described in the Gaia TOS as well as those used by the Guild this Rp has been posted in. Which means if any of these rules contradict those of the Gaia TOS or the The School of Dedicated Role Players' then they are to be ignored and followed as Gaia TOS reigning over The School of Dedicated Role Players reigning over my own. - No Godmoding is allowed unless it is arranged ahead of time with the moderator(s) and the person who is being godmoded - No Mary Sues. This means that your character is NOT perfect, and does not know everything about everything going on... leave room for development, and be realistic - Mr. Apple Juice's word is LAW. If he says something, whether or not it is listed in the rules/policy, get over it. - Swearing and Violence is okay, but not too excessive. - If you have read the rules, please title your PM "sforzando!" - Romance is OK, but this is not a romance RP... no cybering. Take it to the PMs. - This is a Literate RP. Write in 3rd person [[storybook]] and use proper grammar unless it is part of a character and intentional. Spell check is available for use, people! The occasional error is fine.

Profile Skeleton Gaia name: Name: Age: First impression: [basic personality, what others think of your character, etc] Occupation: Appearance: note: I have found that often times an over descriptive profile can cause character to have no room to improve or invent whilst the story is moving. I have participated in RP's where no profile was used but I noticed that without a profile certain details could be forgotten or altered by accident. So in order to solve both problems we chose to go with a simple profile in order to allow participants to progress and elaborate on their character. Accepted Profiles Gaia name: Mr. Apple Juice Name: Gregory Rogers Age: 25 First impression: collected, confident, a tad shallow, full of charisma and exudes charm Occupation: Moves from one low maintenance job to another. Currently a waiter Appearance: Short brown untamed hair. Masculine in figure but not excessively so. Skin is light with a slight natural tan which comes from his heritage. Very attractive. Gaia name: spitfire_violist Name: Dahlilah Age: 23 First impression: inquisitive, intelligent, prone to day-dreams and long trains of thoughts, observant, stubborn Occupation: Student [International Studies and Music Double Major], Part-time musician Appearance: Gaia name: Mei Mahou Name: Josephine Bang Age: 21 First impression: Playful, cat-like, acts like a child sometimes, and secretive. (I'm hoping to develop her personality in the future.) Occupation: Part-time editor and tutor. College student (Theater Arts and English double major.) Appearance: Elbow length black hair, brown eyes with silver and gold specks. Pale skin, as if she hadn't seen enough sun. Somewhat attractive. Gaia name: End of Time and Space Name: Maybella Martyrson Age: 17 First impression:She kind of odd and out there. Occupation: wanderer Appearance: She has steel grey eyes ad curly blue-black hair pulled up into two pony tails. She usually wears a sapphire blue dress and blue and white striped toes socks, but no shoes. She carries around a messenger bag inside which a fluffy, long haired black and white guinea pig travels with her. She always wear a necklace that says "Love Life" as a reminder to live a live of no regrets.

Policy *Because I want this Role Play to be very individually character driven I am not going to place restrictions on characters back rounds except for; -You are either going to be human or some other being that exists in our world (i.e. animals). If you are an animal you will not be able to speak nor communicate through human means (i.e. writing, typing) -If your character is going to be one that understands Will and Fate then I will ask you to refrain from demonstrating so until enough demonstration has been done by myself or a colleague whom understands the intricacies of the two components. -Please do not be an alien, or an elf etc. Although in some abstract way it could fit into the story I'd rather not deal with those obscurities. *I made sure that the description of the setting was vague so that participants could create events that previously occurred. This is a trend that I want to continue throughout this Role Play. I want all participants to be able to direct the story further. All to often I see Role Plays where the characters roles are already set out for them before they even make their profile and through out the duration of the Role Play they are guided by the leader of the Role Play. Although I will be leading this story I will not be guiding it.

Quotes It has become apparent to me that often in Role Plays I will see quotes that shed light in real life or in the fantasy one of the RP. Many of them are just simple phrases that are pleasant to the ear. Others are recitations that speak deep and mindful words and thoughts. Either way I think that they deserve to be remembered and noticed. If I notice a quote that strikes me I'll post it up here and probably label it. If you see one then just post something out of character saying so and quoting the quote and why it strikes you. I'll make sure to put it up here.

Dahlilah was listening to what could only be here favorite song in the world right now, of course, "Hey there Delilah". She walked in tempo, swinging her rather long-limbed appendages in a childish and easy way. She was walking through a parking lot, the kind you see in movies, made for industrial-type business skyscrapers in NYC piled high with level after level, evenly-spaced concrete slabs filled wall to wall with SUVs and other gas-guzzling mechanisms. She had been there to fill out a job application and was feeling rather good about it.
"Well, the rest of it is up to fate." she said out loud.
It was funny, she always felt that the way people talked, fate should really by spelled Fate. For her, it was just an excuse to not bother doing anything.
Suddenly, in front of her, she saw a car suddenly pull out and start racing towards her . What the HELL?!? she thought, with a start.
Panicked, she started to run away. She was a musician, for god's sake, and was wearing heels. But she wanted to live!
"I WANT TO LIVE!!!" she screamed, panting.
Out of nowhere, she saw the stairwell. Her only hope...
she leaped.
To Dahlilah, when she looked back on it years later, she was pretty sure she practically flew out of the suicidal driver's path. At the time, little known to her, it was her first encounter with Will.

"Stay beautiful babe." a warm mans voice sounded. Just as the words were spoken a simple T-shirt veiled his face for a moment right before it slid down his fit body. With a smile he turned to his current love. Flirtatiously he winked.
Jet black eyes peered back at him just below them a delicate nose and under that were the grace of heaven, red. They curved upward and released a giggle as Jet hues rolled.
"Your such a flirt." said the woman with jet eyes as she pulled her Raven hair behind her ear.
"And that's what you love about me." he said as he leaned towards her and planted a kiss on heaven. "Being with you is like Heaven."
"I've never heard that one before. If only it weren't my name." she responded.
"I could call you something else if it'll make it mean more to you." the masculine of the two responded.
Heaven let out a sigh as admiration filled her eyes. "Gregory. Name suites you." she said their faces close.
"As does yours." he said with a smile. "I have to go to work. I'll see you tonight?"
She responded with a nod and watched as the door closed behind him.

Dahlilah hurriedly walked back to campus. she really needed to talk to her room mate and best friend, Heaven.
dammit she said as she realized that she didn't have her keys on her. she knocked onto the apartment door. she was careful not to knock too hard, or the door probably would have fell down. 2 students that were a waitress and a musician couldn't afford a 5th avenue flat.
"Heaven!" she shouted.
"Oh for God's sake, What?" she said, opening the door. Also wearing nothing other than her undergarments.
"I don't have my key." she studied her ruffled friend. "Who slept with you tonight?" the comment received a slap on the shoulder. But Heaven knew it was true, and Dahlilah meant no harm.
Dahlilah and Heaven... the still-traumatized girl thought what an oxymoron.
"So, what happened?" she said, tying her black hair up. "I was nearly killed." "I let you go to a job interview in the middle of NYC, and this is what happens!!!" "I leave you for one night and i find you slept with someone." She stuck out her tongue. For all her incomparable beauty and personality that made the guys swoon, she was a good friend. "I'm sure it meant nothing, Lilah." "I should have been killed - I mean, i should have been hit!" "Well what happened?" "I'm pretty sure it was a miracle..." "You don't believe in miracles." Dahlilah sank into the over-stuffed armchair that was one of their few bleak pieces of furnitures. "I know. That's what freaks me out." Eager to change the topic, she decided to ask about her friend's latest beau. "So... what's his name?" "I'm not telling you." "WHAT?!?" she bolted upright. "I want to give it a chance." "You never do that! Give guys chances or not tell me" "And you don't believe in God, or Miracles."
that was true, and Dahlilah decided to shut up and closed her eyes

"Oh, that's what you do to me." Gregory sang as he pulled his car out into the street of the small rat hole or a apartment building. Recently he had taken a liking to the stations that played music from the two K period. It reminded him of when he was a kid. When he was innocent. The song continued and with a smile he sang along, his untrained voice frail in comparison to that of the singers.
"That was," the host of the radio station started. Gregory recited the title of the song along with the host.
"Hey there Delilah by Plain white Ts." as he finished the last of the words he grabbed his cell phone and dialed Heavens number. She promptly picked up.
"Hello?" "Hey babe. It's me." "Hey!" "I left my wallet over there. I'm gonna pick it up at lunch 'kay?" "Okay. Drive safe." "I..." mid sentence he stopped talking. His stomach lurched and his ears went deaf. A feeling of desperacy came over him. He slammed on his breaks just before reaching an intersection which showed a green light. A gasp escaped his mouth as he watched a car continue into the intersection. The car behind him was following to closely and because of that, didn't have time to react. The sound of grinding metal cut the silence of his deafness, as the car behind him read ended him, shoving his car right into the path of the red light runner. Force from the car ramming into his own caused his head to whip backward then forward slamming into his quickly deploying airbag. The cellphone flew out of his hands onto the dash board.
Something inside him forced him to act in the situation. He gripped the steering wheel and floored the accelerator. The car moved just enough that the car running the red light hit the back of his vehicle, instead of his door. Once again the sound of metal scraping against metal sounded. His head lashed sideways and his neck crackled. Just after the recoil caused his head to fly the other direction right into the window. Just as it hit the window his mind went blank.

Dahlilah woke up to the panicked screams of her roomate.
"GREGORY!!! GREGORY!!! ARE YOU OKAY?"
what in damnation had come over Heaven?
she grogilly stood up. Heaven ran over and hugged her. Dahlilah tentatively hugged her back.
"Oh, Lilah, it's Gregory! Something has happened!" Dahlilah could only guess that Gregory was her beau. Trying to calm her hysterical friend, she went over and turned on her radio to the local news channel. And there, of course, was an accident report.
Breaking news... at the intersection of King and Cross, there has been an incident involving 5 cars. There is only one survivor at the moment, the other involved were found dead. The survivor has been transported to Mercy hospital and is being treated. It is a miracle he survived... we have no positive ID at the moment, but it appears to be a young male between 20 and 30, of an unidentifiable ethnicity, tan skin and brown hair. Anyone who may know who this is please call the hospital...
Dahlilah repeated the report to Heaven, who immediately burst into sobs. "I - i - i was on the phone with him! there was a loud noise, and - and"
"Heaven! Listen, does he match the description?"
"y-y-y-yes..."
"come on, let's take a ride to Mercy"
Dahlilah was troubled. From the sounds of it, his entire vehicle had caught on fire, and was crushed. How in the hell did he survive? He shouldn't have, at any rate.
A few hours later, Dahlilah still sat in the hospital lobby while Heaven was in the room, presumably with Gregory. She listened to her mp3 player... trying to releive her stress with classical music and jazz.
"There's a Boat Dat's Leavin for New York" gently drifted into her ears. As her intuitive and inquisitive brain racked itself for any connection. surely, it couldn't be coincidence?

Sound was the first thing to return him to the world. Gregory could hear another person in the room. He hoped it was Heaven. She was all he wanted to see right now. Slowly he pried his eyes open. The scent of burnt flesh and dried blood was all he could smell. He attempted to move his head but his neck chastise him for doing so. Excruciating pain shot through his spine and quickly he returned face forward. Next he opened his mouth, which tasted of blood and he tried to speak, but only air came. Clearing his throat he spoke again.
"Heaven." he said clearly. Heaven awoke from her blank gaze and looked at him.
"Gregory?!" she said relieved. "How do you feel? They said that the car was on..." she started then halted her word. Heaven knew the last thing he would want to hear was how horrible the entire ordeal really was.
"My neck hurts." Gregory said. "Is everyone else alright?" he asked concerned for the other people in the accident.
"I'm not sure." she said untruthfully.
"How many died?" he asked hearing her lie.
"All of them." Gregory let out a sigh when he heard her words then closed his eyes.
"You don't have to stay with me Heaven. I'll be fine. It's just recovery from here." he said confidently. He ached all over but nothing seemed to damaged.
"No I wanna stay."
"I don't you to see me like this." he said almost bitterly. Heaven stared at him reluctant to obey his wishes. Slowly she nodded and stood up.
"Get better soon." she said awkwardly not knowing what to do. She closed the door behind her and made her way to Dahlilah.
"They said he is pretty messed up. Burns, broken ribs and his neck is screwed up."

Dahlilah was dimly aware of Heaven blathering on next to her. That was fine. She made no motion to take out her earphones or even turn down the music, and she knew Heaven wouldn't mind.
As Duke Ellington, Bernstein, Mozart, Louis Armstrong, Wynton Marsalis, Beethoven, and Berlioz made their way through her headphones, she racked through all the research she had done the last few years.
Dahlilah was something of a conspiracy theorist, and she loved researching organizations like Illuminati, and the Masons, and even the US government's link to terrorist organizations. She was always deeply suspicious of undercurrent activities.
Dimly, she was aware of studies of cases where a 120 pound woman lifed a 2 ton car off of her child... a kid fending off a bear... the man who cut off his arm to survive... scientists had done research on all of that. and she remembered a certain cell of scientists popping up somewhere in her extensive research that lead to the inner depths off remote libraries. They said there was always something in the air, some magnetic force that humans could draw on...
of course, they were branded heretics by the Catholic Church, because anything that could make humans gain abilities they didn't have would almost prove the obsoleteness of a higher power. which is why Dahlilah had been drawn to it in the first place.
But then, the books on the theory dissapeared.
why am i even THINKING about my little theories? the back of her brain understood the connection but her conciense did not. she could only begrudgingly admit that 2 miracles had happened in 1 day... insurmountable odds. uncomfortable odds.
"It was a Miracle." said Heaven, in her usual way of capitalizing concepts. "thank God."

Over the next day or so Gregory slipped between sleep and the pains of being awake. Although he acted as though he was fine when nurses came in the room, he truthfully was scared. Scared that he may never walk again. Scared that he could be mangled for the rest of his life. Scared that a large percentage of his body could be seared. The only thing he had to hope for was the fact that as much pain as he was in, he would be in more if he was in that bad of a shape. A nurse walked in and he took it upon himself to turn his boredom into entertainment.
"Excuse me ma'am." he spoke. The nurse turned to him and smiled.
"Yes?" she responded.
"Could I trouble you for some water." he asked politely. She nodded in response.
"Thanks." he responded and flashed one of his tantalizing smiles. The nurse ate it up and giggled as she turned around and walked away. He smiled as she did so and let out a sigh.
"I need to get out of here." he whispered to himself.

Over the next few days, Dahlilah couldn't stop thinking about Heaven's boy toy, and his miraculous escape from Death's fiery grip.
She decided to go visit him.
Tip toeing to the desk, she told the nurse who she wanted to visit.
"Ohhh, mr. Gregory, yes? He is a fine one..." the nurses desk fill into a pile of shits and giggles. She sighed and walked to his room.
Standing outside she decided to compose herself. She didn't do well around Heaven's.... courtesans. They usually paid her no heed [as she was the plain-looking one of the pair] and usually went in and out with a noncommital grunt of a hello.
she poked her head in at the disheveled body. taking a breath, she decided to come in.
"err... hello, Gregory is it?" she paused. "i'm Heaven's room mate."

"Hey." Gregory responded politely. The doctors had removed many of the bandages on his body . Only a brace like wrapping around his neck, wrapping around his torso and legs were left. His hands were relatively untouched. No burns, only an abundance of cuts and bruises.
"Did she send you to come see me?" he asked looking around the room as a distraction. Usually he didn't get shy or nervous around strangers but the accident had put him on edge.
"Tell her I said I miss her, and that they might let go home soon." the latter half of his statement was a lie. The doctors had been avoiding giving him solid answers about his health.
"What's up with you?" he asked quickly after realising how rude he had been to just assume she was a messenger and treat her accordingly.
