Okay, I do have a call of Cthulhu campaign idea... dunno if it will work in the forums since it will be really friggin slow, but just doing my part to try and support the guild by contributing whatever I can.
If you have never played Call of Cthulhu before, don't worry, the game concept is very simple. You are normal people living normal everyday lives. Then you find something not normal. This makes you go insane eventually. You defeat the not normal thing and likely try to stop the plans it set in motion. Eventually you might gain magical powers (which drives you insane), you might face more monsters (which drives you insane), You may study the monsters for an exploitable weakness or to find an enemy you can join forces with against them (which drives you insane), or you die or retire before going too crazy and hope the world can live on without your efforts.
The setting: United States, New England, Arkham, a small town famed for it's odd history. Located in the beautiful Miskatonic Valley, famed for it's unexplainable subterranian noises! Late 1920's. The recession hasn't hit yet, the economy is still booming (unless your are poor), alcohol is still illegal (unless you are rich!) and the nation has a bright future ahead of it!
Premise: From your varying backgrounds and places of origion you are traveling to Arkham to start your studies (or job) at Miskatonic University. While very few people consider it their college of choice it's alumni number among the elite of the nation, and it offers a wide range of courses with degrees in almost every field, from basic car mechanics to the ever growing field of Physics. You find yourself on a slightly cramped bus bound for a town bordering Arkham, where your group will spend the night and enjoy the local flavor. The ride wouldn't be so bad if the whole bus didn't smell faintly of fish... and you are pretty sure it's comming from the bus driver.
Things to consider: -Remember, this is the 20's. People are racist as all hell. While Miskatonic University (heretofore refered to as MU) is a pregressive college allowing negros and other colored people to study within it's halls, it can't make the students like eachother. If your are playing a minority student (that includes jewish characters) you will be looked down apon by the majority of the people around you. -You can only be human. Where you obviously anything else you would be going to MU to be messily disected by many interested scientists. If you were to somehow hide your non-humanity, you would have to hide it always. The slightest slip would be caught by certain ever vigilant members of a certain cabal of researchers in MU that can and will stomp you into the ground with unecessary force. -The town frowns apon people who carry guns and sharp pointy things around town with them. While there is a gun club on campus, they don't often co hunting possessed cultists, and trying to tell the police that you shot someone because they had a bug in their head controlling their actions doesn't work. Best to find more subtle ways to take on foes. -Martial arts are not known at all in mainstream society, and a strongly protected secret among it's practitioners. If you wish to know martial arts you must either be from a place they are prevalent (India, Asia, some parts of the middle east) and deal with the scorn of being "colored", or have a damn good reason someone would risk teaching their secrets to you at the risk of punishment from others.
That does it for the wall of text.

This post is where profiles would go, so we can all pretend like we remember who plays what character.
To submit profiles, send them to me and I'll put them up here. This way people can join in later without mucking up our thread with more profiles.
Profile form: Player Name: Character name: Character Age: Character description: (Can be text or a picture.) Bio of character: (Explain how your character got accepted to be a student/staff member at a high level college. Also explain if yuor character has any mental illnesses or phobias, if they don't have them now, they will be getting them.) Special Skills: (Not always combat skills, maybe your character has a strong background in chemestry, or is a smooth talker. Heck even having buttloads of cash can go in here.)
Here is an example, made from one of the NPC's careless individuals may run into often: Player Name: Duntada Man Character Name: Ellen Whipple Smith Character description: Nurse Smith is a kindly looking old woman, rarely seen outside the campus hospital. At 4'9" the nurse is surprisingly formidiable despite barely reaching the shoulders of those around her. She has often even been seen cowing the fabled Dr. Armitage with a stern look from her wrinkled face and a lecture about how he isn't as young as he used to be. Bio: As the head nurse of the Miskatonic Universiy's teaching hospital Ellen needs to have a keen awareness on when to give gentle guidance or a stern reprimand to the younger staff, regardless of their position in the hospital. She has been known on several occasions as well to make life difficult for those who she deems unsuitable for a medical career. She is infamous around the college for knowing more about why a student is in the emergency ward after youthfull hijinks gone ary than even the people involved sometimes. While one of the few stable personalities on campus in spite of all the changes made recently, many of the younger students are becoming unsettled by the nurse. Her silent walks through the halls of the medical center have sent more than one student into near panic with her sudden apearence whenever the student swears they see something unearthly in the halls. Lately many of the medical staff have also noticed an increase in her travels to the morgue... Special skills: First aid, ability to show up at the worste of times, ability to inflict terror on first year medical students, knowlege of magic and occult.

Excellent! You are in! Also... I think I note someone has been reading some actual Lovecraft work when they thought of this. I feel I should warn you though, that those tunnels are likely crawling with leprachauns. Not the cute little people with funny hats kind... the "Touch me fookin treasure and I'll eviscerate you and your children and if they live to have grandchildren I curse them to have three arms 2 of which try to strangle them in their sleep every night." kind.

begorrah, ye've gone an tapped the vein of me deep rooted Celtic fears!
No butter be on your milk nor on your ducks a web. May your cow be flayed. And may the flame be bigger and wider which will go through your soul than the Connemara mountains, if they were on fire.
