Donovan had shook both Laer and his attractive, married, pregnant friend off. He wanted time to look around this . . . Emerald Haven? Is that what Laer called this small city masquerading as a home?
It all just seemed a bit odd to him, to say the least. He wasn't at all used to being around places like this; let alone having this many people live in one place in seeming harmony. The latter probably had a lot to do with the crowd he ran with. . . .
He stopped at the edge of the forest, contemplating going inside. It was such a nice day out, albeit a little on the hot side (but, being from Houston, Texas, he was used to hotter); did he really want to go into the shade and miss soaking up all of this sun?
There he stood, all six feet and ten inches of him, frowning at the trees as though it was their fault for making him think about that sort of thing.

Drac shook her head as she sat under the tree near the main home. She was basking in the sun, just enjoying the warmth on her skin. Pushing her sunglasses up she wrinkles her nose up "Nani...come on, he going to be here soon. I promise Laer I would go meet his friend." standing she brushes the leather pants off.
Tinania frowns shaking her head as she steps out of the home holding a planter that had a huge cabbage in it "I'm not going Drac." setting the planter down she runs her fingers carefully over the leaves. Looking back up she sighs "I have to care for this little one here as I was told."

Sadly, Laer had not told Donovan that he was to expect a welcoming party. Indeed, in such a hurry to get away was Donovan, he had practically ran.
What of it? He just didn't feel comfortable spending the night somewhere without at least having a cursory look around.
Besides, he had more pressing things than someone maybe showing up behind him on his mind. He still hadn't decided whether or not he wanted to explore Emerald Forest.
So, he sat down, his long legs stretched out in front of him; feet crossed at the ankles. He leaned back on his hands, and looked up toward the leafy canopy. He squinted his bright green eyes after he ran his hands through his shoulder length, layered hair. The lighter brown that the sun kissed out of the tips shone in the sunlight.
Well, it looked like he was going to stay out here for now. The sun felt too good on his sun-bronzed skin. So, he laid back, folding his hands under his head, and closed his eyes.

Growling Drac shook her head before she turns "Fine, but don't get mad at me when you grow old and lonely Nani. You need to seriously move on. If he was in love with you, he wouldn't have left." pushing her hair from her face she took off running towards the edge of the estate.
Tinania closes her eyes trying to swallow the anger that rose. She knew Drac was right, yet she didn't want to believe her. Looking down at her engagement ring she sigh "Surion...why have you left me?" wiping quickly at the tears she stands as she walks over to the pond.Dipping her hands into it, she chuckles as the koi n** at her fingers.
Lifting her hands up she moves carefully to pour the water cupped in her hands onto the cabbage. Taking a seat she cross her legs "I wonder what you will look like when you finally come out of that."
Drac stop as she reached the edge, panting she looks around as she wipes at her brow. Spotting the man on the ground she tilts her head arching a brow "Donovan?"

Donovan growled low in his chest, and sprang to his feet.
It was then that he remembered where he was. Visibly calming down, he stuck his hands in the pockets of his faded, boot-cut jeans, and looks down at the girl who said his name.
"Yes?" he said. The slow drawl of his voice plainly told whoever listened to it that he was not from this 'Gaia'. If the person were a more fanciful one, they would think him a cowboy. "Who are you, and how do you know my name?" he asked. Direct and to the point, that was how Donovan was feeling at the moment.

Drac smiels holding her hand out "I'm Drac, I've been dating Laer. He asked me to come meet you." purring she turns her head slightly towards the home. The oen thing she hated about her ears. Frowning she close her eyes as she place her other hand over her chest.
Tinania didn't really have a chance to stop the spell once she felt it hit her. Stumbling forward she growls as she looks at her niece "You have better have a good reason for..." she pauses as she looks up only to see Donovan. Eyes widening slighty, her jaw drop before she shook her head. Her wings flutter behind her as she push her hair from her face. She didn't know what to say.
Drac chuckles as she opens her eyes looking at her aunt "I do have a good reason. Donovan, this is my aunt Tinania." pushing Tinani slightly forward, she chuckles as she watches the fairy blush.
Frowning Tinania looks up at Donovan before she holds her hand out "Its a pleasure to meet you Donovan."

Donovan wasn't entirely sure about the whole touching-someon-he-didn't-know thing, but the 'furry' in him always craved attention and contact.
And, at the very least, Tinania's changes in mood we something that amused him to no end. One minute angry, and then the next minute flabbergasted.
So, he took her hand, and shook it firmly in his own, before letting it go.
"It's nice to meet you, too," he drawled, smiling slightly.
He glanced over at Drac, and said, "Ah, so you're the gal that Laer told me about. He didn't mention that you would be comin' to greet me. Guess I should apologise for the way I reacted to you earlier." He shoved his hands back in his pockets and looked around.
"Would y'all mind givin' me a tour?" he asked, suddenly.

Drac chuckles before she place her hand on her hip "He said he was about to tell you ebfore you ran off. I found out only an hour ago when I was with him." looking over at her aunt she couldn't help but grin. This was what she needed, just a chance to forget for a bit.
Placing her hands at her side Tinania was still slightly stunned. She honestly didn't knwo why she was acting like this. Lifting her hand she wraps it around the crystal on her neck.
Drac arches a brow before she looks at Donovan "How about I let Tinania here show you around. She grew up here most her life, so she knows everything about this place. Beside, I really should get back to my studies over at Laer's place." without really giving them a chance to talk she place her hand back over her chest and was gone herself.
Tinania frowns glaring at the spot that Drac was at. When she was able to, she would get that cat and skin her. Looking back up she place her hand behind her head "Sorry about her, she been like that since I could remember." pausing she looks back down at the ground "I could show you around."

Donovan watched the silent and verbal exchange of the girls closely, and he could not help but think that there was something deeper going on between the two of them.
But, he wasn't one to pry, so he didn't ask about it, even if he was a bit curious. If it was meant for him to know, after all, then he would.
"I's alright," Donovan replied to the apology. "I knew a few people like that, and there's nothin' you can do to control 'em." He then ran his fingers through his hair and looked around. "Alright, lead the way," he said.

Tinania push her hair from her face before she nods "Um, well I'm not really sure where to start. This place has many wonderful places to visit, how about we just walk and see where we end up?" wings fluttering behind her she looks away from him to look over the land she called home.
Or at leats once did, to her it didn't feel like home. Fall to much here made her feel as if she didn't belong. Shaking her head she clears her mind before looking back at Donovan. He was rather interesting to her, something about him made him seem different.

"Well, this is your show, missy," Donovan started in a good-natured manner, hopefully rendering the use of the word 'missy' unoffensive. "I'm just along for the ride at this point. So, wherever you wanna take me, I'm gonna follow."

Tinania arches a brow, she had never been called missy before, so it was new one to her. With a light chuckles she nods "Alright I guess we can head into the forest to see the centaurs. They are rather lovely to look at, and they enjoy meeting people." pointing toward the forest banking off towards her right she steps ahead of him before she smiles "So your Laer's friend? You look so much older then him, but then looks can be false." looking away from him she continues down the path.
Something in her told her to keep pressing, there was something about him she wanted to know.
Sitting up in the tree the white cloak was hidden by the leaves of the tree. She had been watching this land for awhile now, between the vampire and her cat lover. The elven woman with a curse to now this good child. This place was full of people she could have fun with.
her metal nails dragged along the bark of the tree as she watched the man. His name was Donovan, and the fairy child was right in her mind. There was indeed something different about him then anyone on the land. His friend Laer seem very nice compared to him, she made note to study his feline friend more closely also.
Pushing her dark green hair with black highlights from her shoulder she remained still. She was itching to get rid of the fairy child and dance with the man, she could see already it would be a delious dance. How it ended though would be the same.
She would be on top and enjoying this tasteful treat before moving on. She just had to wait for the right moment.

"Yeah, I'm a little long in the teeth. Though, Laer is a mite older than me. So, I guess you are right, looks can be decieving," this was all Donovan gave away, before he looked around the trees.
He could smell all of the other things in the forest, but the smell was so overwhelming that he really couldn't seperate a lot of them from the rest.
"Centaurs, eh? I thought that they had all died out," he said, thoughtfully. "I heard that they got so blood thirsty and warred amongst themselves so much that they wiped each other out." It was just a small hint into himself, just the smallest hint. He knew a bit about the Outsiders, or so they were called back home.
In another tree, and as fully disguised by the leaves as the other woman was, there was another, more familiar woman hiding. Her own lethal, gold talons dug for purchase in the bark of the old tree. Her long, hooked chain was tightly wrapped around her arm, while her long, scaley tail was wrapped loosely around the trunk of her hiding place to further keep her balance. Her large, leathery wings were wrapped around her shoulders, and looked like an odd, battered cloak. One cold, blue eye was visible, as the other was covered with an eyepatch.
Laer was not joking, Devi thought. She took a deep breath through her nose, taking in the scent of Donovan. Donnie boy seems to have changed. She smiled coldly, and followed the progress of the duo silently, keeping to the highest points of the trees that she could.

Tinania chuckles shaking her head "That is just what they wished for everyone to think. Stories are interesting as they are just that. They mmoved deep within the forest and my mother and aunt found them one day while scouting the land to see if this place would suit our needs." pauses she stops to look back towards him. How did he know about the war so well. He spoke as if he was there. Shaking her head again she smiles "Anyways, a small clan is still about, twenty at the least are still alive. We keep them hidden and they keep our family safe."
Looking around the forest she pulls her jacket closer, she felt as if there was something out there. Watching and prying into her brain. But she couldn't locate them, not anymore. She lost that sense when she gave up her panther form.
Raven chuckles then shakes her head "You foolish child, you know nothing about that man. If you only knew, and you should be scared child." leaping from the tree she lands carefully on the floor of the forest. Pulling her hood over her head alittle more she hid her eyes as she moved.
She wasn't planning on losing track of this man, not at all. She wanted to learn as much as she could about her prey.

Donovan picked her scent away a moment too late. He had looked up at the point in the trees where the cloaked woman had been hiding a moment before she started to speak.
There was another, more familiar scent. But, she must have a reason for not showing herself just yet, and it wasn't his place to make her presence known.
Besides, he had more pressing demands for his attention right now. And, he could feel the claws aching to spring from his fingers. . . .
"And, you think you know me?" Donovan demanded, keeping his eyes on the cloaked woman. Unconsciously, he took a step closer toward Tinania, apparently meaning to stand between the two women, for the cloaked woman didn't seem to have much of a problem with him. . . .
Devi frowned, her talons digging into the bark of the branch she was perched on. She knew that Donovan could take care of himself, and the girl if it came to that.
It wasn't that she wasn't for blood-shed. She craved blood, and she craved that amorous feeling that came with it, but Donovan was a close friend of the only person that Devi loved, and she felt a small duty toward him. After all, she couldn't take just the pieces of her brother's friend back to him, could she.
She would let it play out for now. She wanted to see what this woman wanted. . . .
