Should we mainstream the guild or keep it private? We have had a private guild since the guild opened because of some past issues in another guild. We are still here after all this time. I know we want new members. We can do it the hard way as we have been by inviting people one by one or we can mainstream the guild and recruit for it legally.

Maybe it's just my innate phobia of change but, I rather like it being private. More to the point if we've survived this long as we are, then maybe that's a sign? I dunno, just my two bits.

a guild allience is where two guilds team up and allow members from the other guild post. they advertise each others guild in their own and share members, and sometimes have contests between the guilds.
I'll go find you the official description...

Here is the official explination... What is an Affiliation? What is a Guild Affiliation/Alliance?A Guild Affiliation/Guild Alliance is a term that means that two or more guilds have an agreement. They will advertise for each other, usually with a link on the front of their guild and maybe a sticky inside. Any user that is a member of one guild in the alliance is usually automatically accepted in the other guilds, or at least has a better chance of getting in. Why should I do this? What can I do with an Affiliation/Alliance?For starters, it's free advertising with very few catches! You'll build up a network of friends that you can set up Affiliation-wide events with, such as contests, roleplay scenarios, and charities. The limit is your imagination and the willingness of the rest of your network to participate. Another good reason is that if your guild participates in a Guild War, your affiliates/allies may come to help you!

The whole reason for coming here was that the guild isn't total free for all, you gotta have at least an understanding of RP to be here. I've spent time out in the forums and other public RP guilds and it's often just not what I'm looking for. RDS is nice cuz people who have an understanding of RP are here and can contribute to the ongoing RP's without having to ask a million questions or get in to disagreements and whatnot because they don't understand what's going on. ^^;;
I love helping people learn how to RP, however, I don't want to be doing that all the time.

I am torn. I voted for becomming public but I have since had a change of heart. I really like the fact that we are private, but then again, I would like to see more active members... I am just not sure what I want for the guild....

This is a hard one because I hear people wanting more members, then I see people don't want more. Perhaps stay private and post more? heart

While I do think taking us public would in fact boost our number, by a gross amount, but with that we lose the filter of a private guild that tends to strain out the "Chatterbox" factor that many Gaians seem to have with them at all times. This place was originally created to be a place where at least semi-literate people with some RP capabilities could come to play as they wish and I feel opening the door to the public would be undermining the foundation on which the Guild was created.

One of your big issues with allowing a more public feel is your going to have more Sora's, Naruto's, Mickey Mouses, and anything else from anime or television coming in. The name of the guild alone makes that happen, si9nce newer members will jump at it.
Another issue with being more public is the lack of descriptions on just about anything outside of the bar. This can lead to people asking "So, what DOES the town look like?"
If we go public, we will need to get some things written out and some areas set-up. I like the private feel personally.

I'm for the private feel too. However public advertising still isn't out of the question. Doji and I both mod for a forum that I've told you about several times called Registered Guilds. A place where we can advertise to role plays that we have a guild and we want members while still remaining private and only accepting those that apply and seem to have a genuine interest. The influx of new members from a thread in this forum won't be as great as going public but it won't come with all the back lash either. If we agree to finally set a thread up I'll help you write it out so that it fits the forum guidelines and so it attracts those it's meant to.

Keep the doors to the guild close. Because once open other members from gaia will come in and make there own forms and thread even if we ask them not too. Then there the mod's power to ban someone, with the doors open a banned member can still come in and post and be a pain in the a**. I would love to have more member who can post as fast as i can i keep getting the 'slow down gaia can not keep up with your posting' thing all the time just because i post a large amount of posting. I feel more happy waiting 10 min to an hour for someone to reply to a post then see this guild get spamed and flamed to hell. With that i bring up another thing, the rules that the mod's and creater's had made gose out the window for the fact you can not ban someone from a guild that let the outside world post in it.
My vote gose to keeping the doors close. We can find a willing member keep up a outside thread in the Registered Guilds form. Plus i can post my News letter in there to get others a taste of what our guild is like. What do you thing?
