When Tonks gets married to Lupin, she would become Nymphadora Lupin, correct? So why the hell does everyone still call her Tonks? Do you think she would have changed her first name, or her middle name to Tonks?

When they get married I don't much remember everyone calling her Tonk. I know that Lupin called her Dora, though.

Maybe it was just that it was a nickname and it happened to be a habit for him. I mean, look at Remus and Sirius: They still called each other "Moony" and "Padfoot". So...Maybe he just couldn't think of her as Nymphadora. She would always be Tonks to him. The same way with my friends: Half of them dont even know my first name. They all just know me by Gumi.

Um, it's not pronounced like Gum. It's like Goo with a Me added to it. And short version of the story, it was the name of a character I wrote back in eighth grade (i'm about to go to college if that says anything for how long I've been known as Gumi) and then when I took my Japanese class, Kagumi (the original name) was shortened to gumi so that my ... Ahem, LESS literate classmates could figure it out. it kinda stuck, and I'm more comfortable with Gumi than with my real name.

In the 7th book, everyone refers to her as Tonks still. I would think that just because she married, she wouldn't refer to herself as Nymphadora. She doesn't like to be called her first name in the beginning. Her last name probably just stuck along with her, is all.

I agree with Chikamio. Harry probably refers to Tonks as Tonks because she will always be Tonks to him. He's learned to call her that, and even though she's married, I don't think she really tells people to call her by Lupin, or her first name. She's been called Tonks all her life, right? Her nickname is a part of who she is, and I don't think that she's going to let it go: married or not married. Besides, would Tonks be anywhere near as cool is she weren't called Tonks?

Same here, I would think that since she's always been Tonks, she'll always BE Tonks. I mean, if you were referred to by your maiden name or a nickname derived from your maiden name because you don't like your first name, you wouldn't want people to call you by your first name after the fact either, would you?

Well Tonks is Tonks. It's kinda weird just changing her name all of a sudden to Female Lupin, you know. There's also a chance she kept her maiden name. She's still Tonks to me, either way. xd

I think that everyone has called her Tonks for so long that she well always be Tonks even thought her last name it now Lupin, also I think that people tried to call her Lupin but it just didn't feel right so they keep her nickname Tonks.
