Sibbling(s): Mate: ----- Offspring(s): ----- Familiar: ----- Text color: darkorange Bio: Ezekiel, son of Ger and Trina. Named after his father’s best friend and ‘brother’, Ezeoha, he inherited a lot of Ger’s side of the family, more in fact of the royal line as his father once told him. His eyes had the royal family’s crimson red and his fur was of his father’s. His markings upon his shoulders must’ve deprived somewhere from his great-great-grandfather’s line. His mane was of his Great-Uncle, Malik. Ezekiel comes with many other names such as Zeki and Zex. However, he preferred only the females to have their choice, others must refer to him as Zeki, otherwise he’d…. well, ignore them.
At a young age, cubs’ minds are very impressionable, and his was no different. Ger had let him tag along during his usual runs to see everyone. Everyone as in the family and any friends he met along the way. During each stop, Ger would take the time to catch up on things that he missed and he would ‘play’ with the relative.
Ger had taught him how to be strong both mentally and physically. During the day, the two would wake before sunrise for a quick run to the water hole and back, and if the sun still has not risen, then they would pounce practice. Afterwards, they’d sleep until the buffalo would come stampeding’. Morals, strength, and the ability to defend him, discipline, just the fundamental “good qualities”, Ezekiel picked up a lot of things from his father, many things that would keep him alive and well founded in life.
Kinari, his uncle, would usually be the last on the list. From him, Zeki learned some things cub shouldn’t know for a long time, however, it is better done now than to explain it later when they are hormonal and well… Uncontrollable. Whenever Ger was doing something else, Kinari would teach the rules of nature such as how matings work, the difference of genders, how to be strong, and from time to time the rules of being a poly. Luckily, Ger doesn’t know. Trigger, another uncle, is always there with Kinari as he is Lord of the North House of a pride. Usually the two are close together so it just takes one trip. Trigger teaches him how to be strong in all aspects that his pride works under. Strength of the heart, mind, body, soul, friends, and family.
Trig, the oldest uncle, is always moving around. It was hard to find him, but he was always happy to see the large male. Ger had no issue with leaving him with Trig, in fact, at times he would insist. Trig was the wisest of the four brothers. They would walk along and talk about things like morals, how to be polite and well mannered to everyone, to be willing to protect those that one loves, and on spare times they would talk about philosophy and how things work and how things don’t. Zeki is always inspired by him to become the best and make his family proud of him.
Then there is Ezeoha. To put short, what doesn’t that guy teach him?
With all of those features rolled into one body, Zeki became a rather idea son for Ger. He knew how to take care of himself and how to do things some could not, at least not yet. Though he got the minimal understanding of the things that his uncles had taught him, he still understood them and uses them to their best... at least to their abilities. Ezekiel follows a code that Trig had spoke about, a knight’s code, Chivalry. Oddly… he sometimes takes it further than he should. He is usually happy regardless of the situation and sometimes psychotically polite. He has unerring compassion and an undying need to protect females if one seemed to be in trouble. Just don’t pin this guy against a girl in a fight because you’d know he’d lose. As a cub he is rather flirtatious at times and a bit of a charmer, but he just doesn’t quite know it. Unlike his Uncle Ez, he doesn’t quite grasp the concept of rejection quite yet so he is sort of immune to the affects of it. A bit philosophical at times but he tends to be goofy. Adventurous, a romantic, hunter, runner, and a bit of a dominant spirit, Zeki is a well-rounded guy.
However, there is a very brutal side to this one, derived from his experience with Kinari and Trigger. When he has a love(s) of his life harmed, even if she shows no affection back, he would blindly rampage after whomever harmed her with intent of murder. His blood has a faint mix of Firekin, one would believe that their genetic belligerence has became a part of him during times of grief.
But all in all, the day-to-day Zeki is very chivalrous and overly polite, but still hints of flirtation and charm when he smiles or does something rather…. “cute”.

“Dad, where are we… running off to… today?” Zeki’s voice called as he pushed himself to stay beside his father as the two ran that morning. It was just like any other morning, the routine father-son run to the water hole and back, then some father-son sleep bonding time at the den. Hopefully Trina would not get mad that her boys were asleep while she was awake. Ezekiel, mostly known as Zeki, ignored otherwise, was a small cub but one of the brightest and capable cub around. With the wise, and not-so-wise, ideals of his uncles, Zeki has become rather well rounded at a young age. Now time will tell what will become of the well-rounded cub. He smiled up at his father as he pushed himself to stay by his father’s jog. A cub against a grown adult was hardly a fair ‘race’.
“To the eastern border today, son, Uncle Trig is waiting for you there,” Ger replied as he smiled back. It seemed like just yesterday that the Goddess of the Lost, Mwokoti, and the female Pride Lander cub, Sen, had came to his den because of something he did that frightened and worried his son. However, it worked out over time and things returned to as they were; the morning runs, the rewarding snoozes, the scolds of Trina, food, and some family time before resting again. “Just a quick visit.”
“Really? Awesome!” Zeki exclaimed as he pushed every ounce into his being into getting there faster. It was rare for him to be able to talk to the larger lion; he was actually quite secluded in his cove on the shoreline. But he was the nicest and one of the most polite lion he had met in his life. Then again, his life was still young.
Suddenly, something had grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and lifted him off of the ground. It was a weird feeling but it was sort of a habitual behavior now, an overuse of stimuli that eventually becomes ignored or gotten used to over time. He knew it was his father, the way his jaw was placed and the placement of the fangs and the soft lick on his fur; it was none other than his father. As the golden fur of his father’s back came around, he knew it was his stop. After being placed down, the cub scrambled up to his father’s head and threw his paws over his forehead. “Take it slow, Zeki, we’re going to walk the rest of the way. No need to go ahead and exhaust yourself before we get to the shoreline. Besides, take things slow and enjoy things, you won’t be a cub forever you know.”
“I know, you’ve said that a lot and I know that. Uncle Moto, Uncle Kinari, and Uncle Trig have all told me that I won’t be a cub forever. I am in no rush to grow up anyways,” he spoke, pawing at his father’s cowlick. Looking up at his own, he giggled. It was a family thing it seemed, or at least coincidental that both of them had cowlicks. Wonder if anyone in their line had some chronic cowlick problem. After time, they just gave up bothering with it they just let it be. “So what are you going to do while we are there?”
“Me? Hmm… didn’t really think about it. I was thinking about just leaving you with Trig and never come get you until your mother and I have another litter from grief of losing you. What do you think, a good idea?”
“Dad!” Ger just giggled. “That’s not funny, Mom will have a heart-attack or worse!”
“True, I know what you mean, but she is a strong female, kind and caring, that’s why I love her and that’s why she is your mother and my mate.”
“I suppose so, but then again, it’s relatively strange to talk about mates and cubs to a cub. Shouldn’t that wait until I am older?” Besides, I know that already.
“Yeah, but either way, you’re going to learn about it sooner or later, but you are right, we should wait on that. Your mother might hound me if I dare talk about such things while you are still a cub and you know what will happen to your poor father if so.”
That’s what Uncle Kinari said… Zeki thought to himself. “Yeah I know, and my “poor father” can take care of himself because he’s so big and strong and too kind to do stuff like that anyways! Not to mention one of decent morals.”
“Decent? Not even an okay or good? Not even great?” Ger spoke as he pressed on as he walked along.
“Nope, that belongs to Uncle Trig. He’s the one of great morals,” Zeki chuckled as he nipped his father’s ear.
“… you are one mean cub, aren’t you?”
“Am not! I’m not mean, even Uncle Moto says I’m not and he’s Firekin. If you ask me-“
“Which I’m not.”
“- that actually means som- Hey!”
“Just sit still, we are almost there. Just got to find that cove and your uncle.”

Waves of the ocean, splashing up against the shore, crashing into the sand then quietly recede back to its retreat to its sanctuary. The sun beat down upon the ocean’s surface as the colors reflected upon its crystal surface in the distance. It was setting down below the horizon for the night to awake and roam across the night sky. The sand whipped in small funnels and then settled back onto the beach. The cub sat there, staring into the sunset as the stars came out one-by-one. Today was long of fun and training, it was just time for a little alone time now. He could remember it all; then again, it was only a few hours ago.
-----
“Zeki! Ger! You’re here! ”
“Uncle Trig!”
“Hello there, brother.”
The large lion rushed over and scooped the two up in his arms and hugged them with crushing power that made them giggle and groan. He put them down and nuzzled his nephew and smiled to his stepbrother. It had been quite a long while since the two Pride Landers came to meet the oldest sibling and one of the most secluded.
Trig was the son of Argoko just as Ger was, but they each had different mothers. However, they still looked a lot alike. Both had golden fur, however, Trig a bit brighter than Ger’s. Both had soft, brown manes, but Ger’s was darker. Each had teal eyes, originated from their father. However, Trig had a pair of markings at the bottom of his forepaws. Not only that, but he towered greatly over Ger. He was one of the most well-mannered and polite lion around, at least to these parts that he knew of. A pacifist, but would put up a fight if someone needed protection. Going out of his way, dropping his own needs to aid others, he’s grown up being helpful to anyone who needed. This was the oldest brother, the one who taught Ezekiel his manners, how to treat females, some philosophy, and many other things one needs to be a “good” male.”
The cove that he lived in was in a dried up bay where the water never goes beyond the threshold of the cove’s clearing entrance. It was wonderful, big and spacious; it could even allow three to four other lions to take resident there too! Upon the back wall were three tall rock formations that have been given a smooth surface to lie upon. From Trig’s pedestal, one could stare directly out from the entrance and watch the magnificent sunset. The sun turning everything to red, the sand glowing orange, the ocean gleaming of blue and marigold, and the sun blazing down the horizon. It was wonderful and cool too.
That day, Ger went off to swim and hunt for the three of them while Zeki and Trig spent some time together. They held a conversation for a couple of hours judging by how the sun moved slowly across the sky. Afterwards, they spoke about what they did and what was been going on in their lives. It was rather interesting what Trig did out here by himself. In fact, he wasn’t always by himself. He said that he wanders along the shoreline and often comes across others. “Really? You met someone like that?” Zeki spoke, purring softly as they lay in the sand, Trig on his side, lying awkwardly. Zeki never asked why, always thought it was how he was. But it sometimes raised questions that leave many unanswered questions.
“Yes, she helped me find this den. Though, she did want me to leave it. I wasn’t going to let her scare me away,” he laughed. “And what about you? What is this about that girl, Safuma?”
“Miss Safuma? Well, she’s a friend of mine from Pride Rock. She’s really nice and playful too. We took down Dad easily just the two of us,” Zeki smiled. “I want to play with her again sometime.”
“Maybe you could. But you best be careful, being from Pride Rock doesn’t mean that they cannot be dangerous. There was once a lion there that tried to kill others.”
“Like Uncle Kinari?”
“… Yes… like, well, not the best example, as that is how your uncle is. This lion was just trying to get something that he was supposed to deserve. Just got greedy, I suppose. What I am trying to say is, always be careful. Females should be protected but even then, you should even be able to protect yourself from them too.”
“But Miss Safuma will never hurt me! She’s too nice for that. Why would anyone want to hurt me? I mean, I didn’t do anything to them.”
Trig sighed and petted him. “You will come to understand that some of us don’t ever need a reason to do things like that.”
“But that’s wrong! It’s not right. You said that no one should hurt others unless there was reason. That no one should attack if the target is not strong enough to attack back with equal power. That never fight unless given reason!” Zeki exclaimed as he recited the teachings of his uncle back to him. “It’s not right. If I were attack, then I must defend myself, but I cannot simply attack for no reason…”
“I am not saying you have to, you are too kindred to do such immoral and inappropriate things. You’ve learned a lot to be a good lion and always remember that. Never let anyone lead you astray, always use your best judgment.”
------
Zeki smiled. We didn’t touch much on philosophy today… that’s good, at least I don’t have to think too much today.
“Zeki?” a voice came. Zeki perked his ear and turned in the direction of the cove as he saw a golden figure stand just outside the threshold of the cove’s clearing, moving toward him. It was Trig. He moved toward him slowly and nuzzled him as he came close. “Your father says it’s time to eat. You’ll go home afterwards.”
“Oh… okay then.”
Trig smiled as he nuzzled him, picked him up and placed him on his back. “It’s nice seeing you again, Ezekiel. I miss talking with you.” Zeki nodded in agreement. “Maybe when you are older, you could sneak back here some time and we could do something that is more fun than just talking.”
“Sounds like fun. When I am older than, until then… food! Charge!”
The uncle laughed as he bounded off back home. Today was just one of many visits to the beach, and one of many to encounter the large lion, Trig.

“Zeki, I don’t think that…”
“No, no, don’t think about it. You shouldn’t think about it, it’s suppose to come naturally. You don’t think about saying ‘hello’ do you? Nope, you just say it. You just got to be nice and polite, otherwise we are gonna get ran over. Rhino are suppose to be rather aggressive, at least that was what I have been told,” the cub murred as the two walked along.
“But… I’ve never been here before, I mean, maybe a few times but never been out for this long. I’ve never done this before, Zeki,” the pup stopped. “Wait, isn’t that being a bit judgemental? I mean about the rhino thing.”
“Is it? Oh… sorry, still working on not being judgemental. It’s harder than you’d think, trust me. It just happens. No one in the world is not judgemental, right? It slips sometimes,” Zeki purred. They paused when something had crossed their path. Zeki had paused and watched it move along, the pup however grinned and scoffed.
“It’s a snake. I can take those on, do it all the time back home.”
“Ophos, no! This is the Pride Lands, we do not hunt when we aren’t hungry. Only kill what you are going to eat and make sure that you kill what you can only eat. Don’t waste anything or else it’s death would have been meaningless.”
“Meaningless? Who cares, it’s a snake.” Ophos replied as he nudged him. “Move out of the way, Zeki, I want to kill it.”
“Ophos, I said no! You aren’t in the Elephant Graveyard anymore! You are in the Pride Lands! Anything out of place here and the lions will come and kill you!” the lion cub exclaimed as he held the larger canine back with all his might. He was still weaker than the hyena, but he was younger and only a cub. The pup was mearly pushing but stopped to listen to reason. “Fine…”
“Lissten well, little hyena of the graveyard, thisss cub here sseemsss to know what he’sss talking about. He sseemsss to be trying to help you out ssome. Lissten to him well,” the snake spoke as his head craned a bit upward to eye at the two. Its scales gave off a brilliant blue color and the spots on them looked like small rain drops falling from the sky. Its voice had the distinct lisp of all snakes, but it was deeper and much more stern and mature. It was an adult male it seemed. The two stared in rather confusion, never met a talking one before. Those were rather rare in the graveyard. “Name’ss Mkaragaro, Mkarag if you may, the wandering sssscholar. I’ve been everywhere and thisss place sseemsss like the nicessst place around to be. Sso you made a wisse choice, hyena pup, to be here.”
“Well… I guess, but I only came here because I didn’t want to be at home. My sister was bugging me and I did not want to deal with my mother,”
“But your sister seems rather nice to me, Ophos. Never met your mother, bet she’s as nice as your sister.”
“HAH! Far from, she is cruel and ruthless, not to mention having a huge grudge on you lions. She would eat you alive if you stepped upon our territory if she was on patrol. The females of our pack is the strongest and the most dangerous ones around, so stay clear from them.” Ophos grinned.
“Hmm, thiss graveyard sssoundsss more interesssting the more you talk about it. Do you ssuppossse you will find a mate in life?” the snake spoke again. “I bet both of you are already looking at females.”
“Well, I know lots of females!” both Mkarag and Ophos stared at the two. “Yeah, my mother, my Aunt Kianga, my Great Aunt Kami, the queen, M’lady Mwokoti, Miss Sen, and Miss Safuma.” Zeki named, counting each one off his paw-digits as he did, eventually having to repeat a cycle a few times. “They’re nice, and friendly too.”
Mkarag nor Ophos spoke for a moment as they stared at the Pride Lander cub then cocked a brow, Mkarag a grow of scales. Ophos brought a paw up to his maw as Mkarag brought the end of his tail to his ‘lips’ and both coughed to clear their throats.
“Well, that is rather an extenssive listss of all the femaless that you have met, my friend. But do any of them sseem to ssstick out to you like more than a friend?”
“Yeah, my mother, my Aunt Kianga, and Great Aunt Kami.”
“Who aren’t related to you, Zeki…” Ophos added.
“Miss Sen and M’lady Mwokoti, but Mwokoti’s different, so not really.”
“Well, one day you will find ssomeone for yourself. Just keep looking for one like me! I found my own other when I came here to the Pride Landsss, sshe’sss really kind and our family is sstill together,” Mkarag seemed to smile a bit and looked over at the hyena pup. “And you?”
“W-well, I never thought about it… I mean, the females of my pack are the strongest and dangerous ones around and-“
“Oh, you’re scared, aren’t you?” Zeki interjected.
“N-no! I am not s-scared of them, they are hyenas, they wouldn’t do anything to me! I am the son of one of the strongest females in the pack and-“
“And you are still scared of females of your pack huh? Well, maybe we can find someone for you out here in the Pride Lands!”
“Zeki! I don’t want to look for anyone! What are you two talking about!?” Ophos was flushed, blushing furiously. Obviously touched a spot on him. Zeki laughed as he twisted a digit into his side making the hyena laugh as well. “Z-Zeki stop that! Stop!”
Zeki wrapped a paw around his friend’s shoulder and pulled him close. “One day, you will find someone and you will cherish them, right?”
“What are you talking about? You’re my friend, tell me!”
“Nah, maybe some other time.”
“Zeki!”
“Well boysss, thisss sssnake’sss got to head back home. The family iss waiting for their old father. Good day to the both of you. Take care.” The snake hissed softly as it slithered off into the tall grass.
Zeki said good-bye but Ophos could not as he was still being punished by Zeki’s digit. Ophos fell onto his side, kicking around madly trying to get the cub to stop.
The snake could still hear their laughter in the distance. “… what good friends.”

The two bodies brushed against one another, softly murring in the warmth shared between the two. It was only mid-morn; the father had fallen asleep after the morning run. Today was a good run, long and hard over rather difficult terrain. Luckily, the son had been able to wander off for a while and catch up after two days with a friend of his. However, the time was long and the morning was still young. They had decided to nap a while in the ol’ abandoned den owned by the father of his friend.
With a soft yawn, the cub pushed out with a paw smacking the pup square in the chin making him mew. The pup kicked back instinctively which cause the cub to roll onto his side. Almost never sleeping on his side, the cub felt uncomfortable in its sleep and rolled back over, his paw falling hard against the pup’s chest making him yelp softly. The two uncomfortable youngling’s mewed, yelped, murred, and groaned as they kicked, pawed, smacked, and pushed at one another. That was until the cub got fed up and kicked out hard making the pup roll a few steps away into the wall.
“Umf,” the pup murred as he slowly rose up onto his haunches, rubbing the back of his head where he had collided with the wall. His red eyes blurred open into the dimly lit den and only the golden pelt on the ground, bundled in a little ball. He yawned softly and flopped back down and curled up, his white tail curled around him. “Five more minutes, Mom…take Zua patrolling today…”
Zeki’s ear flicked in annoyance as the sound disturbed his sleep. Being the cub he was, he did not say anything, rather too tired to say much of anything at all. He knew the voice was familiar, but the warmth inside his bundle of fur was soft and warm. He yawned inside and stretched out a bit before sprawling out on the dirt floor. One minute, two minute, three minutes… he rose up slowly and started to lick his fur clean of the dirt that clung to it.
“Ophos, wake up. We’ve napped until ‘noon,” he purred through his licks, eyes closed on focusing at the chore at hand. “Better get up or we won’t be able to play before you and I have to go back home.”
The hyena yawned and rolled up onto his feet, shaking out his body of the dirt. The two had very distinct ways of getting them cleaned up. Zeki, the lion cub, groomed his fur just like any feline did to get anything out of his fur. Of course, they still needed help with the things in the back. Ophos, the hyena pup, shook out his fur just like any canine would. Oddly, hyenas are more closely related to felines and let often mistaken as canines by the way they act and look. Shaking out the fur, hyenas/canines don’t always get the things out of their fur but it’s affective. The two looked at one another. Zeki’s fur was sticking up in places due to inexperienced cleaning and Ophos was slightly fluffed from shaking too hard. They laughed.
Both Ophos and Zeki were strong; they were fast and good hunters for small game; bugs and mice. They were intelligent, to an extent, and shared some similarities. They palled around when Zeki was able to get from his father and Ophos from his family. It was difficult to be together and avoid wandering eyes, as their two species were rivals and their packs-prides too. The Graveyard was meant to be out of Pride Land territory for a reason, right? It was odd, but they could not let such a trivial thing get in their way of their friendship.
Outside, they wandered a bit down to the water hole, catching up on the things that had been going on for the past two days since they had last met. Ophos had been worked to the bone with his mother and the pack but the way he talked about it was more proud than tedious. Zeki had been up the same old thing, running around and meeting new people. They laughed from time to time when they shared stories of things that went on, typical friend stuff. By the time they reached their destination, they were out of breath after laughing.
“Serious?”
“Of course, my Dad does the weirdest things. For an adult, he does things rather… cubbish.”
“Hah, wouldn’t mind too much if my brute of a father is like that. He may be big and strong, but sometimes he acts weak. To us hyena, it’s just a sign to take over. Not very good idea to do in a pack even for one of the strongest members of the pack.”
“Well, unlike the Graveyard pack, the Pride Landers live by different rules. We don’t try to outrank one another. We just do what we must do to keep things going. Nothing seems to go wrong here and I am glad for that.”
“I would not mind living here. The Graveyard is a difficult place to live, sometimes gets annoying but it helps.”
They sat their selves down and chuckled. “Weird.” They spoke simultaneously. Just as they dipped their heads down to get a drink, another presence entered the water hole area.
“Well, well, it seems like the mighty Pride Lander is hanging out with the insidious Graveyard… That’s interesting," a voice called out the other presence stepped into the area. A wild dog, about their size and age. Steel blue coat, brown eyes, with white fur, the dog had a little jackal with him too. He was much smaller than the rest of them with a black and yellow coloration in his fur. He wagged his tail as he stood beside the dog. "It's not normal to see something like this..."
"Yeah! Pride Landers and 'Graveyard-ererers' shouldn't even play together." the jackal added.
"Says who? I am free to choose my friends, aren't I? Who is gonna tell me that I cannot be friends with Ophos? That is like saying I cannot be the son of my father or my father cannot be my father," Zeki stood up for himself, stepping up before his friend. "What about you? How could you be a friend with a jackal?"
"Simple, because he does what I say." the dog smirked.
"Sounds like a slave to me... if so then you are no different than us hyena." Ophos added.
"Hey, don't clump me in your mangy species, I'm a wild dog not a stupid hyena."
"I am not stupid, I am quite capable of taking care of myself. I bet I am stronger than you are!" Ophos called out, growling.
"No way! Leji is a whole lot stronger than the king of the Pride Lands!" the jackal spoke out.
"Maybe, but the King of the Pride Lands is a lot weaker than those of the Graveyard." the hyena corrected.
"ENOUGH!" the lion shouted. He glanced at the three of them. "Ophos, you are a hyena and you are from the Graveyard. Though you aren't suppose to be here, I brought you here because you are my friend. Leji and jackal, you are both from the Pride Lands, correct? Why do you act like such ignorant creatures? Leji, you look like a strong dog, but you are still a pup just like Ophos. And-"
"-Pam."
"And Pam is a jackal. Why can't we just get along?" Zeki finished.
"Because hyena's are-"
"Don't sterotype me with my species! I know more about us than you do. Don't think twice I will not hurt you if you mock my race." Ophos growled. Leji flinched but quickly collected himself.
"Pfft, whatever. We wild dogs are similar, I admit, but we are a lot more moral than you fil-"
"I'm warning you, don't test me!"
"What? That you are a filthy, mangy, stupid hyena?"
"That's it!" Ophos lunged out from behind the cub and attacked Leji with all his might. To them it was a fight, but to others it may seem more like a small tussle. Each gripped the other's shoulder to keep them off of one another, growling and snarling as they rolled around in the grass. Pam simply stood and watched, his tail wagging quickly to the left and right.
Zeki sighed and watched them with a careful eye. He reached out and pulled on Pam's tail, getting his attention, motioned the little creature to move back. He did. He then moved forward and pounced at the two rivaling beings, throwing a paw against Leji's lock and Ophos' muzzle. "Enough, the both of you. We may be cubs and pups but you are acting much worse. Stop that, the grown ups might hear us and we will all get in trouble. So knock it off!" for the first time, Ophos witnessed Zeki actually yell, not like before when they had first met but with such authority and power... Zeki moved off of each other them, watching the two. Ophos got up and sat down, Leji scoffed and shook his head.
"Fine, whatever. Still, a hyena should not even be here in the first place. They belong in the Graveyard, that is where all hyenas are."
"Yeah! Yeah! Hyenas are there because the Lion King put them there." Pam spoke up again.
Before Ophos could speak again, Zeki stepped forward, smiling. "Oh come on, so what if they do? That doesn't stop us from going there, right? So why should that stop them from coming here? Besides, if you two got to know Ophos a little more you'd know he's a really good guy."
Ophos scoffed this time, "What's your definition of 'good'?" the others laughed.
"Easy, you aren't like other hyenas."
"And what makes you say that?" the pup asked.
"Because you haven't hurt me yet."
The three of them looked on in silence, the two newcomers looking at the hyena for a reply. Did he hurt him yet? Did he ever? Ophos looked down a bit, a little to the right and back up, his tail and ears in submission.
"No... I... I haven't."

Grrrrrr “Pam, come on, get off of me!” Zeki exclaimed, giggling as the small pup nibbled on his ear, making that weird noise of his. Since the confrontation with Leji and Ophos, the four of them have been together on and off for the past couple of moons. Leji loosened up on Ophos, a bit, but Ophos was still stiff towards the wild dog. It was weird, but he still hated him. It appears hyenas hold grudges quite well. Pam came a lot more active now that the four of them became rather… awkward friends. Zeki and Ophos were seen together just as Pam and Leji. But it seemed Leji just did not take Ophos too well and often times find himself staring down with Zeki. Rough relations.
“Pambuako, get off of him,” the wild dog spoke, sitting near by, his tail crossed over his paws. Leji was around the age as the other three of the group. He had brown eyes, a steel blue and white coat. Leji grew rather… dominant. Pam’s tail still wagged wildly as he laid upon Zeki’s side, ear still in his maw. The pup sighed and got up. “Nevermind, just stay here.” The pup turned and headed down the path some, toward the water hole.
The lion and the jackal stared at one another, one curious the other one as carefreely innocent as ever. “What’s his problem anyways, Pam?”
The jackal released the ear and settled down against him as if he were a backrest. “Well, Leji’s just Leji. His real name’s Hiari’leji though, it means ‘Iron Will’ so he’s sort of… hard to break some times,” Pam’s tail still wagged on as always had. “We met a while back, maybe before even you came here. You came back when the Royal family had their cubs right?”
“I guess so, I can’t give you an honest answer since I had not met most of them and I didn’t even know she was from the current Queen and King until I found out when my Dad went to go meet the Queen,” Zeki looked back at him. “But I guess you could say that…”
“Yeah, well… Leji’s always been like this. I mean, the one who has to be in control of things. That way, things go his way and thus never go wrong so he’s happy.”
“Then why do you let him boss you around then? It sounds like he made you his… um, I don’t really want to say this word.”
“Slave?” He questioned. “Yeah, well, I’ll gladly be one for him. After all… he did save me once already,” the cub cocked a brow. “I was attacked, he saved me, I owed him. Do I need to say more? Wait, I take that back. I don’t want to say more. Just know that Leji’s just the dominant sort of guy and he feels that you and Ophos oppose that.”
“Oppose that? He wants me to bend to his commands? I don’t think so, I got my own rules to live by and having to listen to another other than my elders and the royal family is against it.”
“Oh, so you are what they call a ‘Code hero’?”
“Um… I guess so. I don’t know what that is, but I can find out some other time when I go visit my Uncle Trig…”
“Well… digress. Leji’s only annoyed that you won’t listen to him the way he wants you to. Because if you did then he would also have Ophos to listen to him because Ophos listens to you.”
“No he doesn’t! I have never told Ophos what to do, he’s my friend, I’d never do that! What Leji’s doing is not right, but if he really feels that way then fine but he won’t get me or Ophos to do what he wants. At least he has you.”
Pam laughed. “Right, right! Leji will always have me, you see. I am a good friend, a good friend!”
Zeki started to laugh too. “Yes you are and he is lucky to have a good friend like you. With friends like you, who needs anything else? Just be there for him and eventually he’ll be a good friend back.”
He nodded. “Of course.”
“What are you two talking about now? I leave for a moment and I can hear you shouting down at the water hole,” The pup returned as his head appeared around the corner. The jackal and the lion looked at one another and laughed.
“Nothing at all, Leji.”

"What is your problem!? I've only known you for two stupid days and you think that makes us friends!? You nosey dolt just keeps clinging to me like some parasite! Why can't you just leave me alone!?" a young but rough voice cried out, a hiss and a snarl in place where it emphasised some words and phrases. "You may be of the same pride and probably of royal blood but you are just a pest!"
The golden cub recoiled to the harsh words from this male he had known for a good week, seven suns and six moons. They had been together for a while since Leji and Pam where nowhere to be seen and Ophos seemed occupied with pack duties from his Alpha. He had no one else to hang around with his own age. Or at least close to. He diverted his eyes and then looked back at his "friend's" green ones. They were burning with rage and anger, but it seemed a lot dimmer than when they had gotten themselves into trouble. At least the one he did.
It was not the day they had met. The cub was walking through the wildebeast valley when he had encountered a rogue jackal or something or other. It just jumped out from the shadows and snarled, snapping at his paws whenever he tried to approach. Zeki could not understand why this creature was so irritated with him. He had not done anything to him and thus he should not do anything back, but there he was snapping. It was then that the other lion cub came along, knocked it aside with such ease and moved on past, calling both of them "dolts". Unfortunately did not catch his name then.
The next day, Zeki had found him again and immediately sort of clung to his company. He had tried to strike up conversations but the other cub would just ignore him, flicking his tail almost every step. That was when his paw fell into a meerkat tunnel which angered a colony. The cub once again stepped up and scared them all off. And again called the Pride Lander a "dolt". They tagged around for the rest of the day until Zeki had lost sight of him. Still he did not catch his name.
Through the days he had spent with the cub, he got to know him more and more. He was quite intelligent and smart too. Though he did not speak much to him, he learned a lot by the way he did things when it came to solving certain problems and taking certain actions himself. He seemed almost methodical. He studied each situation, examined the options, tossed out the tines that were not possible for him, chose the one he felt would be most effective, decided how to do it, and then actually do it. It seemed so quick and yet he did not think twice about it either it seemed and it did it easily. Sometimes, the things he found difficult to do, the cub would do it easily as if out of habit. He seemed toned to certain things unlike himself. Zeki was taught how to do almost everything his uncles were but at a much lower scale but him... he could surpass Zeki with great ease if he chose to.
Then earlier today, was when he was indanger from a snake. A long blue spotted snake that he had angered. Rather he had disturbed the nest that he had been caring for with his family. The cub found himself harmlessly bitten and flinching. He was almost frozen at the sight of the hissing snake. The strikes it made purposely missed as they stopped many inches from him, yet the cub, who seemed so fierce and stong, was struck frightened. It was when Zeki had came into the picture and spoke to the known reptile. It was none other than the once traveling scholar-like snake, Mkaragaro. Using some reasoning, the snake agreed to leave the frightened cub alone. Now that brings it back to the current.
"I-I just wanted to help... I-I didn't m-mean to offend you," Zeki replied, almost scared from the yelling. He knew how scary this one can be, at least the miminal amount from whenever someone objected his views or orders. Even both.
"Offend me!? Oh no, you didn't offend me, no you saved me!" His tone was entirely sarcastic and filled with anger. "You are just a stupid pest who can't keep his mouth shut or know where his four left paws are going. You are the stupidest, clumsiest, and most uncoordinated cub I know! My sisters are better than you, and that is a mockery there-no! The females of your caste are better than you! Now that is a mockery!"
"Stop that!"
"Stop what!? Stop demeaning you? Do you want me to say I am sorry!? Too bad! You are annoying and just infuriating!" he roared, stomping his paw when he finished a sentence. "Ezekiel, why must you keep trying to befriend me!? I am not like you. I am not goody-goody like you, I am who I am. I don't want friends like you, I don't want friends at all. All I need is my family and that's it, the rest of you cna do whatever you want!" it was then that he moved closer, almost nose to nose with the cub. "Matisho, remember that name. One day, I am going to beat you up so much, you would wish you never met me!" with that last bit, he ran off into the bushes.
Zeki sat there, a bit of shock and fright, confusion and hurt. What had just happen? His attempt of making a friend... failed? That has never happened nefore, has it? Did everyone he know not his friends because they did not agree to it? Was it...-no, he knew his heart was right when he saw this... Matisho as a friend. At least, he thought that. He sat there for a moment, alone in the savanna, thinking of what had transpired from that day 'til now.
If he didn't care about me... then why did he save me from that jackal? Then again, he did ditch me often... but perhaps he just had to get home quickly... and he did save me from that colony of meerkats, and I thought I should repay him....and he doesn't see me as a friend? But a pest... an annoyance...?
Zeki looked down at his paws, the same paws that have taken him everywhere in the Pride Lands and beyond with his father. Could everything his uncles had taught him be wrong? Especially Uncle Trig? No way, he was never wrong. He was the most intelligent and kindest of them... but what did he do wrong with Matisho to have him break like that?
"You're always my friend... Mat. At least... in my eyes."
