A soft breeze blew through the grasses, tugging gently at a slowly sprouting mane tuft. Orange-gold eyes watched a butterfly dancing, keeping its distance from what could attack it. As the winds shifted, the delicate little insect drifted away, off somewhere south.
It was lucky... It didn't have such burdends over its head. Shetani let out a sigh, wishing she had been born to another lioness, sired by any other lion, than the ones that had produced her. Though young, she lived with the burden of knowing that not only was she descended from a proud, royal line... But she was the progeny of two relatives. Her grandfather on her mother's side had given up on being upset about it, but it didn't stop her from being haunted by this fact.
The combined weights of her origins and her relations had created a cub who was almost desolate in spirit. As she got up and padded along a well-worn path, Shetani only thought of how she was nothing, yet she was something. Her life confused her, and it greatly displeased her. In her mind, she fit in nowhere in these lands her family called home.

There was a lot on her mind. Kimiko had realised, very fast, that the world wasn't as she expected it. Watching Toshiro and Sairin fight had made her realise that her actions had some pretty big reprecutions. Toshiro beating Shin had led Sairin to come just short of mauling the older lion. She decided she had to find the splattery brown and cream lioness and appologise for biting her... Just not yet. Her mind was running a thousand miles a minute, and she wanted it to stop first.
As the winds shifted, she caught a scent. Somehow, she could recognise the smell of desolation. She'd smelled it on Shin often enough, after all. Curious, the white adolescent followed it. What she saw was a cub, just barely a juvenile, it seemed, walking alone. The posture screamed of a mind so heavy it almost belonged to another. Curious, she followed after at a slow pace.

Mindful not of others around, Shetani wandered for what seemed like hours before she came to a pool of water in the vastness of the Southlands. As she stared at it, she could only see, in her mind, those she was related to, those she descended from. She had no idea what her great grandparents on either side looked like, so she didn't see them. She only saw that she was the descended of one of the queen's sibblings.
Suddenly, another face appeared in the pool. But this one wasn't imagined. She looked up, scurring a bit. It was another lion, one she didn't even know. Her grandfather had always advised her against associating with strange lions, and this was no eception. Naturally, she was afraid. But there was nowhere to hide, thus she puffed up. "G-get away from me!"

For the first time in her life, the sight of somebody cowering away from her.. Surprised Kimiko. Was she that scary...? She watched the cub, tilting her head. "And why? One so young shows to have some big things on their mind..." She found a spot that gave her a good vantage point over the cub. "I saw you walking... I was merely curious."

Eyeing the older and larger lioness warily, Shetani scurried to a tree and did her best to climb it. Now out of reach, she watched the pale lioness. "What's it to ya what I think about?" She glanced towards Pride Rock, then back at the pale lion. "I can think about what I want and don't gotta tell nobody!" She actually expected the lioness to reprimand her with 'a princess shouldn't speak in such a manner,' but something told her she wouldn't. Had she finally met someone who DIDN'T know her extensive family?

Stretching her paws a little, Kimiko eyed the juvenile. "Nothing, really..." She let out a yawn. "But you looked like you had more on your mind than someone as young as you should." She rolled over in the dirt and grass, stretching out in the warming sun. It wasn't as warm as the oasis, but she wasn't about to trek into the desert to the north. "It almost looks like you need to leave this area if something is here that weighs so much on you."

Leave...? Shetani had never imagined leaving before. Was it different out there, away from the Pridelands? Would she be treated as just a lion...? Slowly, she slid down the tree. "What's out there that would be worth leaving home for?" Besides being a nobody, which was a welcome thought.

Black-toed paws reached up towards the sky, as if to pull a cloud down. "Oh, lots of things. INcluding other prides where they don't know you. I hear there's prides all over the place, including deserts and jungles, even at the ocean" Kimiko rolled over, watching the juvenile come out of the tree. "It's all waiting for you to find it, you know. It waits for us all, the whole world." She got up, tail flicking a bit. "Anyway, I should be going... I got my own thinking to do." She turned, walking off into the grasses. Though white, she quickly vanished, as if nothing more than a cloud in the haze.

Sitting by the water again, Shetani pondered over the words of the strange lioness. She'd forgotten to get her name... But that didn't matter. As she stared at her reflection, she made up her mind. Rising, she glanced towards the Pridelands. Should she tell her family that she was going? She thought of her father, who often seemed more interested in lionesses, and decided against it. Turning towards the distant horizon, Shetani begain her long walk.
