Sia sat at the edge of a stream, staring down at it's bottom. She saw a few silver fish swim by and smiled to herself, she couldn't help but wounder what it would be like to swim in the cool, refreshing water. She slowly dipped one of her orange hooves into the water. The stream was in the forest and was close to the beach.

Coal brushed branches past as he walked along, sighing a bit. Eron, Kalliu and Siam would be ok for a little bit while he went for a quick breather. Plus he could get somthing for them to eat. He glanced around at the sound of water near by. Mabye fish? Siam said he used to eat fish and he liked it...and he knew Eron and Kalli haddn't had any...yeah that sounded like a good idea. He headed towards the water and soon came upon the stream. However he paused when he saw somone on the banks. Well there went that idea. He started to back up to leave as one of his hind hooves snapped a branch on the groud. He froze. Crap.

Sia shot up when she heard something. She looked around and her ears where perked up, listening for the slightest sound. She turned around and saw a dark colored figure standing in the trees."H-hello?"Sia said nervously, she was still a bit startled from the sudden noise and she wasn't able to see him clearly so she stepped forward a few steps.

Coal backedu p a bit before desided running away would be both pointless and utterly stupid. He stepped forward. "Sorry if i startled you, stupid branches..." He kicked at the leaves and branches on the ground. "Sorry. I was just seeing if there was any fish in the stream...." He said. Sorry if i intruded on anything."

"Oh it's okay...I really wasn't doing anything."Sia said with a smile."And there are lots of fish in the water."She looked at him,"Whats your name?"She asked.

"Huh?" He blinked. "Oh, its Coal." He said. He moved forward a bit slowly, moving towards the side, glancing into the stream. "hmm...Siam might like those...mabye? stupid brat didn't say anything about what the fish looked like..." He scratched the back of his head, talking to himself.

"My name is Sia."Sia said. She looked at him,"So...um, have you ever caught a fish before?"Sia felt stupid asking that question. She couldn't think of anything else to say and she wasn't the best at starting conversations. Her head turned up to face the sky, she really couldn't see much of anything because of the leaves and branches clouding her veiw of the blue sky."Do you know what time of day it is?"She asked still looking up.

"Oh, nice to meet you." he said. "Uh...not really. a few times when i was little but yeah...I kinda gotta get somthing more then berries and stuff for Siam and Kalli and Eron. They've been bugging me for weeks to get like fish for 'um, the brats didn't even offer to help." he rolled his eyes. "Hmm?" He looked upward. " its a bit after noon i think. startign to get later in the day."

"Really? that might help. catch more fish then on my own." He smiled. "hmm? Oh, They are just some kids i take care of. No idea where their parents are...I just...found them one by one since my teenage days, and i've just looked after them..."

Sia looked at him,"Wow, your taking care of three kids!That must be killer."she said. She found it hard to imagine herself alone with three kids having to take care of them every single day.

Coal shruged. "you get used to it." He said. "Once you figure out what shuts them up, you get used to it. And their ok. Its just hard somtimes to deal with Eron's clingy-ness, Siam's constent tears or Kalli's superiority complex." he said. "But most of the time they play together and i jsut make sure they dont' get hurt..."

Sia nodded her head,"Oh, okay...but to me it still sounds hard since I don't have to take care of any young ones."Sia said as her tail twitched.She just stood there for a second and looked at him. She smiled and walked back to the stream, which was only a few steps away.She looked down into the water and saw the silver fish swimming inches away from her hooves,"Sometimes I think the fish are teasing me."She laughed.

Coal slowly walked over, standing beside her. "It's not easy but...like i said you get used to it." He said a bit lightly. He looked at the fish, a few dartign over before darting away quickly. He sat down. "Mabye. Or their just arrogent. I mean they arn't the brightest thigns in the world...and the dumber somthing is the more arrogent it is, thinking that it can do anything. Or mabye your just not intimidating enough." He smiled at the Sia.

Sia looked at him and smiled back,"Maybe."She laughed. She looked back at the fish, the slightest movement of her hoof sent them darting in all directions. As soon as the water had calmed, the fish swam back over cautiously , exploring the area.
