Whatever had made her mother so teary-eyed still confused Bell Pepper. So she was a bit older... so what? ...Right? She was still her mama's little girl, and nothing would ever change that. Bell Pepper didn't particularly trust herself to be okay on her own... it still felt odd to her to be able to leave without her mother watching her every move like a hawk... in fact, Bell kind of missed that protective feeling.
Because she was older, Pepper had told her daughter Bell Pepper she should now learn to fend for herself. Bell was a bit more confident these days as opposed to her childhood, but that didn't mean she had lost her stuttering or her paranoia. She still jumped at the slightest things that frightened her, and obviously, she still would cry her eyes out if she thought she was hurt. Now, Bell Pepper wasn't a bad girl... she just hated being scared so easily.
Currently, Bell was learning on her own how to hunt for her own food. It was much, much harder than she thought it would be and she was about to cry from frustration and hunger. Why was this so hard? Her mother did it very easily, so she should be able to do it with ease, too! Bell Pepper took a few deep breaths to keep from crying before she tried again. Ah... a rabbit. Careful now, she told herself, easy... easy...

Metal claws tapped and scraped roughly across dirt and rubble as Gunzi dragged his feet, not at all pleased his prey had escaped before he had had his fill of fun. Almost sulkily Gunzi found himself, head bowed and nose pressed close to the ground, traveling further into the overgrown brush of the forest. Ear unconsciously twitching at every sound, his mood perked slightly at the distinctive smell of Ulaya. A lopsided grin plastered itself across his muzzle, and with a slight twist of his body was now heading towards where this newcomers scent grew heavy. “How fun, how fun” He practically hummed to himself.

She took a deep, concentrated breath as she eyed her prey. It was just sitting there, chewing on some grass, unaware that she was watching it. Silently praying she would succeed this time around for a meal--for she was quite hungry--she padded softly towards the rabbit... Pounce! Crash! The rabbit had noticed her two seconds too soon, fleeing before Bell could trap it and kill it effectively, landing her into a heap of unsatisfied hungry mess. Moaning and groaning to herself, Bell shook her head as she tried to shake off the disappointment of once again missing her prey. Deciding to give up for now, she lay upon the ground, tail twitching, as she tried to figure out how to catch her next meal with a higher rate of success than she had been. Like the rabbit, however, Bell was completely unaware she was about to have company of her home--she was far too focused on how to sharpen her hunting skills.

Hum…? Passive eyes watched a quite obviously spooked rabbit dart out and around him. Reflexively Gunzi lashed out towards the creature, eyes glinting in a hidden pleasure as metallic claws easily pierced soft skin. The moment the rabbit had stopped its futile struggles Gunzi’s eyes returned to an almost dulled look. “Pathetic…” He hissed to himself.
Trudging onward, making sure to scrape the metal claws almost obnoxiously against the earth, he began withdrawing into himself. Probably shouldn’t have… Waste. Not even fun… …ulaya. Ulaya? Snapping himself quite forcefully back to reality Gunzi found himself nearly on top of the Ulaya he had previously smelt. Quirking his head slightly he simply watched the young female, not quite grasping what exactly she was doing so deep within this almost unoccupied forest.

Blood... The smell of the dark, red liquid invaded her senses, startling Bell out of her dream-like stupor. Blinking so that her deep, blue ocean eyes returned to a more reality focused sheen, she straightened from her position to look around for the source of the smell. Seeing nothing around her, she sighed again, this time in boredom, and twitched her tail. She flexed her front paws, seeing the claws there, sharpened, but unused and untrained. Bell was frustrated with herself, that, and with how she was always so jumpy at everything. She couldn't help being skittery, though; that's just how she was, and she couldn't find it in herself to change it... Her ears perked up however when she scented another Ulaya nearby. Thus, she began to look around, seeking the other Ulaya... maybe they could help her to learn to hunt better!
