It had been days since the meeting with Tiffany. A very strange meeting indeed, but one that seemed-no matter how horrid and ridiculous the mare had been to her, a very interesting one. She had told Abattie all the negative stuff about her looks and personality. Stuff that normal soquili would never dare to speak outloud, especially to a mare so emotionally unstable like this one.

Ah, now life was so unfair.

All those words had left her thinking. Was she such a terrible mare? A terrible sister, daughter...friend? Every so often in each day that passed, a random stallion would walk by and she'd ask them if she was bad. Most of the time they just shrugged and laughed at her, leaving Abattie to feel even worse. Having her brother there during the meeting with Tiffany didn't exactly -help- either. He had made her feel weak, like she couldn't stick up for herself even in the simpliest of hardships.

That's why she needed someone else. She needed to meet someone who understood her, and no she couldn't run back to her parents. If they found out what their daughter was going through, especially her Papa, they wouldn't let her out more. They'd trap her at their home, which would only prove that she was weak.

Many times Attie had debated running off to find another member of the large family that she had. Not one like Raum, though, who didn't give two cares that he was related to the likes of her. No, she'd find her spunky Grandparents or loving Aunts...they'd understand...right? No, they wouldn't either. No one would.

All those negative thoughts stayed with her still, thinking of ways to escape it. It seemed as though she was alone, never to find someone to help her but that was until she had randomly come across the name of someone she had forgotten about. Antony, the only stallion, heck the only soquili that ever really gave her a chance, even though she royally screwed up with that 'kind' comment. He had forgiven her, or rather choosen to still stay and talk. She had to find him, she had to. He was her only hope...

...now if only she knew where he was. Probably still out looking for that father of his....

Since he'd parted ways with the yellow mare, Antony had basically followed through with his normal routine. After a bit of scouring he'd managed to find his father, have a good discussion, meet up with Dodger, run into his dad again, see Ariston, meet a few new Soquilis...life was a crazy, insane whirl.

Especially lately.

Even though is made perfect sense, Tony was still in a state of amused amazement over the little tidbit Guilian had shared last time Tony had seen him. He, Antony, was going to be an older brother. Or rather, an older half-brother, as Guilian hadn't so much as seen Izusa in ages. No, Tony wasn't surprised...

But he WAS amused. And amazed. After all, Guilian was a busy guy, so it seemed like he ought to have more kids than he did. The fact that he didn't have MORE kids made this new announcement that much of a shock...

Tony had only recently parted ways with Guilian, the latter off to check up on the state of his still unborn offspring, the former to...

Well, to muse, he supposed!

If only Tony's crazy, insane whirl of a life was hers instead of the one she had to deal with. It seemed a whole lot easier to walk in someone elses shoes (as a metaphor of courses) then to walk in her own at that moment. She didn't want to be Abattie anymore, or at least the Abattie that everyone knew. It was getting tireding. Meeting up with others and not getting upset or jealous of any of them was a whole lot more fun than doing so.

Standing by a river and looking into her own appearance, the mare sighed. It wasn't such an amazing sight anymore like it was when she was younger. Tiffany was right, her braides were all parted silly and frizzy, her tail felt itchy! But it was too complicated, getting rid of it all, since no two-legger had ever even seen the mare. She'd get help if she needed it, but was also too afraid to take out her braids...they were apart of her.

And that was it. Her braids were apart of her, just like everything else. So why was she getting upset over some stupid mare saying that she was hidious if there was nothing she could do to something that was a part of her? Ah! It was all just so very confusing, she needed to vent to someone...

Attie hung her head low, still staring into the water-her mind elsewhere.

Though he was inordinately fond of flying, Antony preferred foot travel in many circumstances; in woodlands, for example, if he had a mission therein, or through the sort of meadow where the grass was extra soft. Another such circumstance was when he was thirsty; though he could very easily swoop down to a body of water, he liked to wander around the edge for a while first; that way, he could literally 'scope out the terrain' and therefore find the best place to take a drink from.

Consequently, on this particular day he was on the ground, wings folded against his back and eye thoughtfully trained riverwards. Even though the concept of a larger family and new siblings was a novelty that required a great deal of thought and consideration (not that his lack of thought would affect that reality one way or another ANYWAY), he still needed to drink. And live. And all that good stuff that went together.

So, he walked along the riverbank, his steps soft and muffled by the mossy riverbank. Perhaps that was why he was able to get so close to the yellow mare without her realizing he was there. He, on the other hand, didn't have a good excuse, not unless one counted plain old mental detachement.

But notice her he finally did, standing on the opposite bank of the river a bit downstream. "Attie?"

His voice came very slowly into her mind, passing through for a moment or two without her comprehending the name, or even the fact that someone had said anything at all. But when it came back to her, the mare quickly looked up at whoever had said her own name. Who in the world would know her, let alone want to speak with her? The only one besides her family would have been miles from here....

Yellow eyes spotted the stallion almost as instantely as she looked up, and she grinned. It took a moment to realize just who this stallion was, but it was enough time for the mare to think about flirting with him, a game she took up just to make herself feel better. But that was until she saw the wings. Those wings that made him a Kalona-!

"T...t...Tony?" Her voice stuttered across his own name, not wanting to believe it if he wasn't true. "Is that you?" Oh if it was, she was just about to become a very happy mare. Which was a big step for what she was previously going through! Just the stallion she wanted to see, and he was there, in front of her? Well, technically on the other side of the bank but it was good enough! She'd cross over if need be.

"Oh, Tony if that's you..." Abattie began, but stopped herself in mid setence. There was no point in talking if it wasn't him, for this stallion would have thought her an idiot and not wanting anything to do wit her.

...If he was himself? Unbidden by any conscious thought, one of Antony's eyebrows rose up in the familiar 'are you joking me' look. If he wasn't himself, then there was another remarkably unique looking stallion running around out there, since he himself had yet to see anyone that looked even remotely like himself. Attie had to know that, they'd talked about it.

Which was what made him firmly decide she was just funning him, something that he, at least, could appreciate. In a droll tone that mixed both seriousness and humor, he called over, "I like to think that I am, seeing as how I've been me for pretty much my entire existence, but I suppose I could have become someone else in the meantime. Do I look like I've become other than me?"

Chuckling, at that Tony spread his wings wide, then in one swoop had crossed over the river, alighting gracefully beside the small mare. "Or is this just your way of saying hello?"

She had noticed the look he gave her, but didn't quite take it to heart. Rather just shrugging it off, the mare stared at him, hoping somehow this wouldn't be like that time she thought she saw her younger sister, but instead it was a similiar looking mare.

But the way he talked-it had to have been him! Antony was the only one that Abattie knew to talk in that 'know-it-all' way, and that made her grin. So it was him, afterall.

When the stallion flew over next to her, the small mare blushed madly-out of sheer embarressment because of her looks. No longer was that red tone on her cheeks so adorable, nor her whole shinning yellow coat any more shinnier. It looked as though (according to herself and a few passing soquili, as well as Tiffany) that she had gone through hell and back. Perhaps Tony was able to look past all that, and see her the way she was before?

"I suppose you can say it's both. It's been a while, you know. Anyone can change in even the smallest of time frames, so as far as I could tell, you could have been a stranger." Her smile grew bigger as she looked up at him, completely surprised at the random appearance of the stallion she had been 'hoping' too see. But now, after remembering how her own appearance was, Attie was hoping it didn't come true.

"So...how've you been, Tony?"

Abattie was indeed scruffy. A Soquili would have to be blind as a bat to NOT notice that particular fact, and blindness had never been something Tony had troubles with.

However, if there was one thing he'd picked up from his father, it was that the prudent stallion never, EVER made any sort of negative or disparaging comment on the looks of a mare; even if one had healthy curiousity or merely 'wanted to know', asking was a sure way to land one's a** in hot water that would never cool down. No thanks.

So he ignored the mare's appearance; he'd seen her before in a NOT scruffy state, so there was a high likelihood that today's state was only a fluke anyway.

Instead, he focused on the pleasure of seeing an old friend again, and the chance to renew their banter from before.

"Point, but I think I've gotten too old change that much, even were I to have ages. Just the same old, same old...but at least I like me this way." Winking, Antony shook out his wings, the light breeze of the day whistling slightly against the leathery skin. "And I myself have been decent; the life of a nomad is good for me. Ths way, if something comes up that I don't want to deal with, I can just mosey on without attracting suspicion!" Accompanying this statement was a roguish wink; after their last talk, he figured she'd know what he meant. "But how about you?"

A part of the mare was happy that he hadn't spoken about her appearance, but the other half had also held her back in curiousity as to why he hadn't. While most stallions would laugh at her right off the bat, he had kept his mouth shut and seemingly ignored her looks. It was refreshing, but was Antony doing it out of sheer courtesy? Whichever the case, Abattie could do nothing else but smile at her friend.

Seeing a familiar face (a friendly one, at that) was great, and this was indeed a perfect chance to renew their...banter from their first meeting.

"I like you this way too, Tony and I'm glad you turned out to not be a stranger." The yellow mare laughed, "I suppose I'm just the same old mare as before as well." Yellow eyes darted from wing to wing, taking in the familiar sight before her ever so carefully. "Mmm..." Attie started, grinning for she had known exactly what he meant. "That's good, at least it's been working out for one of us."

"I've been...alright...I should say, for lack of a better term. Just moseying around looking for things. Answers, really. I can't lie, it's been hard but I'll get better." Especially now that she had someone next to her that would be willing to listen, even if she didn't want to talk.

Noting Abattie's scrutiny, Antony grinned impishly and spread his wings far apart, tilting his head slightly so that she could get a better look at his profile. If she wanted to look, he was fine with that, he'd just give her a little something to look AT. Ah, the joys of amusement...

Though that only lasted for a bit before he was resuming his normal posture, dropping the silly posturing as Abattie continued on with her narrative. Yeah, that didn't sound that promising, actually, and THAT meant that seriousness was in order.

"Hrm. Well, at the risk of sounding like I'm prying, Attie, it sounds like there's just a wee bit of uncertainty in your voice there; considering that you're the one talking, that seems to suggest that there's something amiss with you. So, how about we flop down, make ourselves comfortable, and you tell me why you're so glum and unkempt?" It was a character failing of his, this bluntness that liked to crop up at inopportune moments...but what can you do? At least he was sincere.

As he spoke, the stallion moved closer to Abattie, draping a wing over her side and holding her snugly against his side in a gesture of comfort. "Come on, Attie, you can talk to me."
