For a Mpinzani dog, Kadogo didn't spend much time there - he only flirted with the borders, gave warning to anyone who'd think to cause trouble there as he travelled. But with Twawa being a b***h in every sense of the word the Runt didn't want to go home. She was the alpha and she was supposed to be keeping the pack running and happy on the inside. He was a border guardian, despite his small female-sized stature.

At least one of them was doing their job.

Today the sun was hot on the black fur down his back and Kaddy panted as he walked. Already he'd told a nasty hyena to leave and had snarled until the known pup-snatcher had got the message. He'd never get a Mpinzani pup, damn him. And if he was under the impression Kaddy actually had back ups out here...well. That was just lucky.

If Kiji had known just how close she was to a pack's border, she would've turned around in a heart beat. She hadn't set foot in a territory since she was an adolescent, and didn't plan to any time soon. Or anytime at all, really. Packs were useless in her mind. They could only slow a dog down or cause them some sort of phyisical or mental pain. There was absolutely no good that could come from being with other adults all of the time. The only company anyone should keep for an extended period of time were pups, and that was because they needed the protection. Plus, Kiji was a push over when it came to the little ones. Put a youngster in fron to of her and you could watch a cold heart melt in seconds flat.

Of course, as fast as a little one could make her turn to mush, a male could make her turn to stone. As luck would have it, none other than the latter was strutting around the area Kiji had just stumbled in as if he had a purpouse for being there. The female's ears flattened considerabley, her mood growing fowl. As long as the male didn't notice or talk to her, she could be gone from this place quite quickly. But why would any male leave her alone? They were all plotting all the time, weren't they? All they wanted was to use and abuse. The tan dog was already snarling, even though the other hadn't even said or done anything yet. What a great start to a perfectly wonderous day.

When he noted Kiji's presence, it was Kadogo's duty to wander over - for all her snarls. He wasn't strutting really. The Runt didn't really know how to, not having the arrogant pride for it. He did however carry himself well for all his 'small' size and wasn't scared by this female's open hostility visually. Inside though, he had to wonder what he'd done wrong.

A thousand generations worth of instinct told him that females were the boss after all. But then, it had been a female, his sister how'd told him to patrol and guard. So, Kaddy reasoned, he'd be polite and ask her buisness. No need to get defensive straight away.

"Good day. You're near the porders of the Mpinzani pack. Do you seek passage or were you unaware this is claimed land, miss?" He started with a respectful bob of the head, keeping his tone polite but offical. To Kaddy this was just another job...he'd given up even smling at girls. The creatures had hearts of stone, when one was a Runt of little worth.

"Just my luck," the female muttered to herself as the rather small male made his way over to her. Why was it that she seemed to attract them like bugs to a carcass? You'd think that with all her snarling, they'd keep away, yet they always seemed to manage to completely ignore the warning signs and waltz right on over. It seemed this runt was no different. Though, at least this time Kiji wasn't afraid. Usualy, there was a bit of fear whenever she saw a male. This was an entirely different circumstance. The dog walking towards her was smaller than your average male, somehow stunted in his growth. Since he seemed mature in every ther sense, she was almost certain he was a runt. That must be a tough life. If he had been a pup, she might've pitied him. Instead, she took it as an advantage to seem more threatening.

"If I had known a pack lived here, I wouldn't have come within a day's journey." She glared at him despite his somewhat kind gesture, throwing around her obvious distaste for packs. Even though what she had said had been spiced up a bit and was meant to be an insult, she was telling a half-truth. The distance was exagerated, but she really wouldn't have come this close if she had known the Mpinzani pack resided so near. She had avoided them for such a long time, it seemed silly that she had finally stumled along one by accident.
