"This is not right, this is most definitely not right!" A small yellow cub muttered fervently to himself as paws crossed dark soft earth rapidly. He was not scared, not really, not yet, but it seemed that this expedition into the jungle had not been such a good idea. He'd appreciated being taken care of by Rahima, when his mother had left him, and now he was on his own again, though at least it was by his choosing.

But still. He couldn't help but feel it had been a bad choice; after wandering on his own for a few days, no more than a week, catching what bugs and small rodents he could he was beginning to feel a little frustrated.

'Could it be?' the trees had begun to thin, yes! He was finally getting out of this jungle and the horrible sticky humidity of the region! Nearly tumbling over his feet he crashed through the undergrowth only to find himself in a large clearing, surrounded still by trees on all sides.

Chuju growled in frustration and flunked down, smack in the middle of the clearing, sighing. "It's as good a place to rest as any..." he murmured grumpily.

Ilori had been running around, being the energetic but lazy thing that he was, trying to avoid his parents making him do something that he didn't want to do, as per usual. It was his new basic routine while they hung around the jungle. While his family was off doing something, he would wander. If they needed him, somehow they always managed to find him.

Probably because the cub was no expert in the art of being quiet.

In fact, as he tromped around, trying to catch whatever small things he could, falling up and down, nothing stopping him, he made so much noise that one could easily mistake him for an elephant. Around then, the small cub went down. A hill.

"Oh no!" Ilori gasped as he went down, head over heels, over the hill, through the brush, narrowly missing trees until he was flung, at full speed, straight out of the jungle and into a clearing... straight towards another yellow cub.

WHOOMPH!

Chuju squeaked nervously and rolled a foot or so before scrambling to his feet to give the orange cub that had just tumbled into him a very level look.

He couldn't stay cross for long however, and simply shook his head, black tuft of hair falling messily into chocolate eyes. "Whadjoo do that for?" He demanded, a joking tone taking the harsh edge from his words. Certainly, Chuju was a little mad about being plowed into, at full tilt no less, but he was mostly just irritated with his situation.

Shaking his head again he giggled and trotted up to the other cub. "You okay?"

Ilori blinked a few times, "Is... the ground supposed to move around when you're not?" he asked, completely dizzy and frazzled. Still, he smiled on and wobbled to his feet, "Sorry... I was chasing a butterfly and I fell down the hill... I didn't mean to run over you."

He hadn't really. He hadn't even known that there was another lion around there, though he usually ran into them all over the place. Which suited him just fine really. He liked meeting new friends, and with Ilori, every new lion was a new potential friend! Even if he had just flat-out run into them.

"It's okay." The golden cub admonished, smiling, before adding, "I seen wild dogs chasing their tails, and I tried it one time for fun, and the ground was really wobbly then!" Laughing he spun himself in a quick circle before sitting down in front of the orange cub and looking him up and down, and sniffing to memorize the other's scent.

"Butterflies aren't near as fun as grasshoppers. Sometimes I catch really BIG ones!" Thoroughly amused that he now had somebody to chatter at Chuju grinned, his earlier grumpy mood all but forgotten. "I'm Chuju'kinyago, but you can call me Chuju, 'kay? What's your name?" He asked.

Ilori's grin grew almost instantly, "My name is Ilori, but sometimes lions call me Lori. It's very nice to meet you Chuji!" he stood up and ran in a small circle, "Grasshops may be fun, but fireflies are the best! They glow like stars!"

He had never run around in circles before, but it was something he was starting to consider! Except for how far he had fallen, Ilori had had fun on the hill, especially the feeling of being dizzy. He would have to try chasing his tail! He would bet that he would even be able to catch it!

"Ilori..." He repeated softly adding the name to the scent in his mind. "Nice to meet you too!" Prancing around the other cub in a wide arc Chuju grinned. "You know, I'd say, judging by how fast you were going down that hill, that you'd be pretty good at tag!"

Tag was Chuju's most favourite thing in the entire world, and finding somebody his size to play it with was always an exciting prospect!

"For your information" Ilori's eyes practically glittered at the prospect, "I happened to be the king of tag! I remain the undefeated champion!" Which was a lie, his mom beat him all the time, but he wasn't about to tell Chuji that! Besides, he loved tag!

"The KING, huh?" Chuju grinned and spanked the ground with his forepaws, wiggling his back end excitedly.

"Well then, Mr. King, you," -he bounced a half step closer- "are" -another half step- "IT!" He hollered finally, body checking Ilori before tearing off across the clearing and heading for the trees on the other side.

"CHEATER!" Ilori bolted after him, laughing the whole way, as was Ilori's general custom. When he got mad, it was never for long, if he got mad at all. Which was a rare thing indeed. He never even really got irritated.

And thus, being 'it' didn't bother him at all. Even if he never caught Chuji, he was just happy to have a new friend around.

Giggling and zig zagging as he ran Chuju glanced behind him for Ilori, calling "It's not cheating just 'cause I got you 'afore you got me!" with a huge grin pasted on his face. Remembering suddenly to watch where he was going the cub skittered and swerved around a rather large tree that seemed to have magically popped up almost directly in front of his face and then hid behind it, hunched up and ready to pounce, black tasselled tail flicking eagerly.

Of course, he hadn't noticed that said appendage was showing around the other side of the tree, he was much more focused on waiting to tackle his newfound friend!

Ilori grinned as he spotted the tail sticking out from behind the tree, making him ounce on it as though it were his dinner, "CAUGHT YOU!" And with that the orange cub was gone, dissapearing into the foilage.

He played with his mother, and his brother. And when he constantly went against his mother, a winner, he sort of picked up on her personality. Though winning was never his top priority, having fun was much more interesting! Besides, Chuji was clever! Except for leaving his tail out behind the tree...

A little crestfallen that his 'brilliant' plan to ambush Ilori had failed and he had been caught instead, Chuju pulled himself up on his paws abruptly and streaked after the quickly vanishing orange cub. Brightly coloured birds raced along overhead and the yellow cub giggled and growled playfully at them before remembering once more to watch where he was going.

Perhaps he had a bit of a short attention span, but he always enjoyed playing with others, even when he ran into things when he wasn't paying attention. He'd never had siblings to play with, and his mother had left him to fend for himself while he was still very young. Playing tag with bugs had been as good as it was going to get before Rahima'd taken him in and watched over him.A momentary pang of guilt hit again, thinking of kindhearted lioness who had found him, and he worried that she was worried over him disappearing without telling her, then he caught sight of an orange and white tail. Picking up speed he laughed happily. "I'm SO gonna get you~!" Chuju called ahead, Ilori mere paces in front of him.

Suddenly the world lurched awkwardly as he hooked his paw on a protruding root, and he tumbled forward, colliding with Ilori, rolling the two cubs over the edge of a steep embankment with a sharp five foot drop at the bottom, onto dirt, fallen leaves, and sparse grass.

"Owwwww..." Chuju moaned grumpily, he was mostly unhurt, scratched a bit from the fall, moreso dazed as he took in the shift in surroundings. Wizened tree roots poked out the sides of the short cliff and a small pond had collected rainwater towards a corner of the valley. Glancing around the yellow cub groaned, steep walls surrounded them on all sides.

They were trapped.

(( Ohmigodthat'sahugedamnpost. Sorry! D8 But I had an idea... I had to run with it... ^^;; ))

((Lol, no no, that's perfectly fine ^_^ for the sake of awsome plots, I sacrifice all! ))

Ilori let out a small moan and he sat up, "Owww... that kind hurt..." Ilori hurt himself all the time, throwing himself around without surrender before, but this was a little extreme... "Um... Chuji... are we... on a cliff? Down a cliff... with more cliff..."

Danger. Danger. This was not good. Not good. Not good. But Ilori quenched it down. He put down all the fear into a little ball, and made it into a joke. That was how he dealt with it. He had to be calm and collected, or things would go wrong.

"Wow... that's a lot of cliff..."

Chuju, however was close to a full-flung panic when he realized the gravity of their situation. His ears lay back flat, tail swishing back and forth anxiously, chocolate eyes opened wide and scanning for any way out. "I don't know... I think it's more of... a trench. Or a valley. But we're surrounded, so it's weird. And I don't -like- it!" A note of alarm crept into his last phrase, pitching his voice slightly higher than the already tenor childish lilt.

Running full tilt towards the wall he leapt at one of the lowest overhanging roots, digging his claws into it and scrabbling at it with his back paws to try and get a better grip. A dry crack sounded through the air and he cried out in surprise as he was tumbled back down the the bottom of the entrenchment, the root broken off and laying just in front of his nose when he landed.

Frustratedly he pulled himself back upright and began pacing and staring upwards. He sighed, a shuddery and nervous sound, then sat down facing Ilori, who looked cool as a cucumber to the white-masked cub. "I'm sorry we fell." Chuju murmured, staring down at the dirt. "What do we do now though? How do we get out of here?"
