Azachamorel was growing increasingly frustrated with her state following her fight with rogues at the border. Although unashamed of the injuries, she was nonetheless heartily sick of them. She wanted to hunt, feel her claws rend flesh again!

The huntress was no fool, however, and knew she had to just deal with it and be patient, no matter how hard it was. She'd been lucky enough to avoid serious infection thus far, and she had no intentions of doing anything that would reopen the wounds and put her at risk all over again. Still, she couldn't bring herself to keep sitting around the dens, and so she had taken to walking the sands and sometimes borders just for the sake of having something to do, as she did now.

Matifu gave a derisive snort as he stared out at the desert before him. He knew that a different kind of jungle lay on the other side, but did he honestly feel like treking through his name sake to get there? With his weight (for he was a rather massive, stocky lion) he'd likely sink and drown in the dunes before he got halfway in.

Drowning in sand did not sound like a fun way to die, if there was one.

He paced along the border instead, debating which way to go next. He still had not found what, or who he was looking for. Would he ever?

Surely she wouldn't come here, but... maybe... maybe she'd been captured, which would explain her sudden and complete absence.

Azachamorel's thickly-padded paws carried her over the sands at a leisurely trot - it felt good to stretch her legs. Soon enough she reached the dryer ground of the border, which she strode along for a few moments before she caught sight of another pacing lion - a lion who most certainly did not belong here.

Snarling, she yelled out across the distance, "Go away, rogue!"

Wha? Who was that yelling at him from so far off? His pale eyes narrowed harshly, trying to block out as much of the intense and uncensored sunlight as possible. A little blotch of red greeted the male, making him wonder. Was he seeing straight? Ah, yes... a female. Fetching, too, despite the distance, and from the looks of it, her injuries.

"I'm sorry, miss, but leaving now means I traveled this way for nothing! And seeing that I don't have much time for idling about, I'm not very inclined to comply with your request!"

He could be such a smartass, but seeing as he was the one in fit condition, and she not, he figured she was in no real position to force him to do anything.

"But maybe you can help me! I'm looking for someone!"

It was as though he considered her no threat at all....

How...how dare he speak so to her! She was Firekin, and he was on Firekin lands! Was he a fool? Were she not concerned with letting her wounds heal, she would have been on him in a moment, teaching him the same lesson she had taught others.

Aza's blood boiled. "There is no help for your kind here, rogue! Go back to where you belong."

Huh... the way she stared back at him, the overly-easy going lion almost wondered for a moment if the female might be lacking in the intellect department, but then she spoke up again, his ears perking to hear what she said.

"... You don't listen well, do you?" He sighed, shaking his fur covered head. "Would you at least come over here, miss? I can't make out half of what you're screaming at me! Oh, nevermind."

And with that said he proceeded to do that himself, drawing closer a bit.

"She's got white fur, and blue eyes. She answers by the name 'Theluji'. Have you seen her in these lands?"

He figured if he had any hope of finding out, he'd best be persistant about it, or he'd likely be quick to leave empty pawed.

"You're the one who doesn't listen," she snapped in frustration. "Foolish rogue."

"I've killed no white lioness, nor do I know a slave by such a name." Aza's hackles were up, her tail lashing angrily behind her. "If she was foolish enough to come here, then she died on the dunes."

After a moment, the huntress laughed. "You're welcome to search for her bones, if you like. You could join her!"

Well, at least that served to answer his question. The male stared quietly at the Firekin, ears flicking being the only sign of life besides the heaving of his chest in this wretched heat. Theluji, dead? No, he wouldn't believe that. He still felt his tie with her, somehow he just knew that he'd know if something had happened to her.

Then, his head tilted to the side.

"Now there's a thought... and you'd have to live with the knowledge that a couple of filthy rogues had made it onto your lands, and were dirtying it up with their decaying bodies and remaining skeletons. Hmm..." He smiled morbidly. In truth, Matifu's patience was normally rather deep, but when lost he would often become emersed in sarcasm, and purposely set to try to aggrivate the other side if someone were so lucky as to set him off. He drew closer yet, just to test her own patience, knowing it was the quickest way to set her off after such a brief encounter. He didn't fear death, even if she should kill him. He'd led a long and happy life, and perhaps that's what made him more dangerous, like a true rogue. Life could not get any more meaningless without his mate and children at his side. "Maybe I'll take you up on that offer. Hm?"

"Whether we kill you or the desert does, it makes no difference," she laughed humorlessly. "You have what you sought, rogue - your filthy mate is not here."

With that crude assumption, she turned to make her way back into the desert.

"Filthy? Hm, so says the one covered in scars. I'd been told that the Firekin were strong, proud lions... but then, I suppose you'd be living proof that the rumors of your inbreeding have weakened the bloodline."

He continued making his way closer, but kept a slight distance. He wasn't sure what had gotten into him, normally it wasn't his way to provoke others, let alone females, let alone injured females, but weeks, months of searching with no fruit or even clues to put his heart at rest made the male more irritable than normal. This was likely just his breaking point, and he needed a way to lash out, before that negative energy truely got the better of him.

Azachamorel turned with a roar, striking out at the air between them in the only warning he would get. "Scars won killing trash like you!"

"Perhaps you'd like a taste of their last experience on earth?" The huntress had never truly killed a rogue, but she was certain she could have killed that family had she cared to make the effort.

Thereeeeeee we go. Matifu had a satisfied smirk as the energy transferred back to whence it came. He wasn't happy to learn about some poor rogues' death, but he'd best take his leave now, rather than stirring up a huge debate over the matter.

"Well then, my good madam, I shall take my leave. Thank you for the information!" He called back chipperly as he turned to saunter off the way he'd come.
