Yet another boring day. The skies were gray, as usual, and bones littered the ground. There were a few new sets of bones, but not many. Not much had gone on, really, and even though Kai was the newest scout here, there wasn't much in the way of scouting. It was boring, and she needed someone new to talk to.. Or something new to do. But who?

A creature moved somewhere behind the female.
Quietly, like an expert, a brown hyena was moving through the graveyard. His brown fur didn't stand out as much as one'd think; it had the graveyards dust on it, like some sort of transperent screen blending him in.
He was largeish, not by much, but still enough to be intimidating. He needed it.
Soon enough, he was a meere few feets behind the bored young female. "You. Who are you? " He demanded, however, it was sort-of calm. She didn't look like much of a misfit; but he was head guard. He had to know. His job reflected a bit on his skin; he was scar-covered from fights, against lions, and a cheetah. On the belly, his sides, his shoulders, even dangerously close to his ears. But none were recent, and they grew thinner as fur managed to grow a bit, soon to be covered entirely.

Kai freaked out, jumping a foot or two into the air, turning around in a flash. She surely hadn't expected that, and it scared the living daylights out of her.
"Oh! Hello. You scared me." She took a moment to catch her breath, her silver eyes looking over the brown and white hyena that stood before her. He was rather.. Different.. Than any hyena she had met in the Graveyard before. From what she could tell, most of them were a grayish color, including herself, but brown? It was just... Different, but in a nice way. "My name is Kailasa. I'm the newest recruit here. I'm one of the scouts, as Tukutu declared me."
He was odd-looking, but still in a good way. She noticed all the scars on him, but didn't say anything about him. However, out of everything she noticed about him, one thing really stood out, and they were his eyes. They were a color she had never seen before, and they were so beautiful.

"Sorry. Habit, y'know. " He shrugged. He didn't feel the need to be rude to this female; he oculd already tell she was nothing like shira, just for not having spat at him.
He blinked his strange eyes, a weird sort of blue, cyan, perhaps. A new one. A scout. Interesting. "Nice presentation. I am tibuka, head guard of the pack. " Also Mafa's babysitter? He thought. Really, he hadn't babysit since Mabozi had grown into his adolescence,
"A new scout, then. " He murmured to himself, sitting down.

Kai took a sigh of relief, happy to know that the brown male wasn't going to attack her or anything. "It's alright. I just didn't expect anyone to be behind me. I guess I still need to work on that."
She smiled, being her normal, cheery self. It wasn't like other hyenas to ever be as happy as she was, which made her feel special, but around here, she had to watch herself some. Some hyenas didn't like smiling, for a reason that Kai didn't fully understand.
"It's nice to meet you, Tibuka. You're the head guard? I think Tukutu told me to make sure to meet you, as well as Rasuli. I haven't seen him around yet though." She continued to look at his eyes, wondering about them. They were so pretty, and she just couldn't get over them.
"Yes, I'm a new scout. Is that bad?", she asked, over hearing his slight mumbling.

Tukutu. He could barely hold back a snort at that name; why didn't Tukutu manage Mabozi when he was a kid? Yeesh. Talk about your dead-beat father.
"Likewise. " He said curtly. Was this girl rather.. chipper? That wasn't all bad, though. "No, no problem. We havn't had new members in a while. " He shrugged. "I take it Tukutu told you aobut the lions? You're not a guard, so though its best to chase them off yourself, you'd best call a guard. " He shrugged. Scouts weren't the fighters, he took it?

She nodded her head. "Yes, he told me about the lions. I know that if lions ever did try to invade the Graveyard, I'd go find a guard right away. I wouldn't dare attack one... For.. Certain reasons."
She wasn't sure if she should tell him about her love for lions. Tukutu said it wasn't bad, as long as Mafa didn't know, and that it was good to have some variety of personalities in the pack. Still, while most here seemed to hate lions, she thought that she should try to hate them too... But it was just so hard. They had never done anything bad to her.
"Really? No new members? How come?", she asked, quickly changing the subject a bit.

"Ok. " He said, quirking a brow when she said she wouldn't be able to attack one. That was odd.. But he best not touch the matter. "If one attacks you, however, just be loud. " The pride nearby was prbably not one bit friendly with them.
"I'm nt sure. I guess most hyena's don't want to live right next to lions. "

"Yea, I guess so. I know that one lives close to here, but I'm not how close exactly. I don't worry though. I've been scouting every day now, and I haven't see anything that looks even close to a lion."
She smiled some, just figuring that she had a done a good job or something, but she wasn't sure. Slowly, her smile went away, her paws shifting nervously.
"So.. Umm.. Tibuka, right? Do you have a family around here or anything?"

"One?! " He laughed, but didn't seem annoyed, rather amused. "There's a whole bloody pride round 'ere, tryin' ta take the graveyard. C'mon, I'll show you. " He said, and got to his paws, standing next to her and waiting for her to move. "I'll just show you where you can smell 'em. 'n I'll explain everythin' on the way. "
He lbinked at her next question, swivelling his ears. His family. "Nope. All of 'em died. " He shrugged. He never hated his family; but they'd never been close, so when he learned of their death, it was sad, but more awkward. He couldn't help but feel he should have been more upset but.. He wasn't.

That's when Kai caught her mistake. She laughed nervously, shifting her paws around some. "Sorry. I meant that I know that a pride lives close to here. I guess I'm mixing my words up some." She laughed her nervous laugh again, her silver eyes trying to look away, but also trying to focus on what was happening. "Alright though. That'd be helpful."
Then, she heard his next response, and she forgot about how embarrassed she was. "Oh.. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope I didn't offend you or anything. I didn't mean to if I did." She quickly tried to nose his side some, but also tried to back off, not sure what she should do in a situation like this.

He snorted in amusement, perking his ears at the female. She was weird. But when she seemed ready to go, he started to walk, and was slightly surprised by the nudge; but hey. No harm done, right?
"No need ta worry. " He shrugged. "'m not offended. They been dead fer a while, 'n I wasn't even round, so, " He said so without completing it, there was nothing to complete it with.

She smiled and started to walk alongside him, glad that she hadn't hurt his feelings with her 'talk-before-you-think' action. She did that all the time, and she really needed to learn to control it.
"So, where exactly does this lion pride live, and why do they want the Graveyard so bad?", she asked, changing the subject again. She still had something on her mind that she wanted to ask Tibuka, but she felt it was too personal, so she would wait for now. No need to make his mind wonder about her even more than it probably already was.

"Dunno. Long time ago, there was this lion, Taka. I wasn't in the pack back then. Just lived nearby. " He paused for a moment, trying to recollect his thoughts. While Taka was in the graveyard allying with the hyenas, he hadn't really been born yet.
"Well, my parents did, anyway. When I was a pup, he ended up bringing a plague. Killed almost the 'ole pack. Cept for Mafa 'n.. Tukutu, I think. They were prolly both pups. " Mafa wasn't /that/ old. He was quite sure. Part of this was assuming, and other was by what his parents had told him.
"This bunch I dunno why they wanna live 'ere. But their tryin' ta get the graveyard. So we are tryin' ta get 'em out. " He said simply. He didn't know about any real intention of the Maziko, but to him, they looked pretty damn well like they wanted to take over.
"They had a queen, I took care 'a her. Pretty sure I made 'er leave. Havn't sniffed her out since. " He was quite proud of his defeat of Ishara, the former queen, and of his occasionalmeetings with lions.

Kailasa walked along with Tibuka and listened, making sure to keep notes about this pride. It sounded like no matter what the hyenas did, this pride still wanted to take the Graveyard over. Why though? It didn't make any sense.
"Isn't this place worthless to them, though? All it is is scattered bones and the stench of dead things all around. It doesn't make sense." Kai's silver eyes wandered some, looking around the Graveyard. Shaking her head, she still couldn't make any sense of it. Why...?
(( Oki-dokie! >w< -wonders if she should change the title to 'OMG, lion attack!!'- xD ))
