Family : Muggle-born, Ciara is the daughter of Peter and Marie Edgarton. They were surprised when, at the age of seven, strange and inexplicable things started to happen around and to their daughter. Her brother, Maxwell, had had no such oddities at that age. Perplexed, the couple was more than happy to accept the kindly wizard's explanation when Ciara was eleven. He explained that Ciara was indeed a witch, with a knack for being a metamorphmagus. Though they didn't fully comprehend their daughter's talents, Peter and Marie have supported her in all her pursuits. Sending her off to Hogwarts for schooling at such a young age was good for Ciara, who was quick-witted and eager to learn to control the magic she could perform.
Never fond of the term, Ciara grew to hate the still, though less used, slur--Mudblood. It hurt and was slanderous. Even though the war with Voldemort was long over, some pureblooded families still held their prejudices, enforcing the beliefs on their unknowing children. Ciara has learned to deal with the mental pain that comes with being teased, though it happens less frequently now that she is older and more assured of herself. Her parents never did find out how she was born with the ability to shift hair colors, her eye color, and even her facial features. They still are just as confused about the appearance of magic in their family as they were the day Ciara started coming inside from playing outside with neon pink hair and pointed ears.
Ciara's brother is slightly jealous of her talents, but has never held it against her. He understands the hardships that she has to deal with, coming from a Muggle family, as Ciara told him they were called. Though he might not understand it and is sometimes irritated at the attention she gets, Maxwell loves his sister wholly and would never let harm befall her.
A Bit About Him/Her : Short for her age, Ciara is quite petite. Standing at only four foot, ten inches, she makes up for it with her quirky personality. Long dark green, almost black hair brushes her shoulder blades, while her bright lilac purple eyes are striking in contrast. Ciara usually wears her hair pinned up with an elaborate clip that she inherited from her grandmother. Since she has the ability to change her hair color and basic facial features, Ciara shifts her locks on a daily basis. The dark green is her natural color, but she also favors a grey-purple to match her eyes, along with blue or even black. She also wears glasses when reading, smaller framed, black cat-eye shaped frames.
Dressed normally in her school robes, when she is at home she enjoys regular muggle styles, normally found relaxing in jeans or soft trousers and a thick sweater. Ciara has a fantastic shape, just coming into that age where boys are interesting. Self conscious about her figure, Ciara hides it, only her friends have seen her in tighter tops and less bulky clothing. It also doesn't help that in addition to starting to look at boys, she has also become fond of girls. Hiding this fact from almost everyone but her closest friend, Ciara has only this year started to wear more flattering outfits out on her trips to Hogsmeade.
Ciara is a spitfire of a girl. She has a mind like quicksilver and is very adept at ancient runes, charms, and herbology. With a talent for memorizing plants and spells, Ciara has quickly become quite high in class ranks. She also enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time, her mother always sending her muggle books and art supplies each month by owl. Placed right into Ravenclaw by the Sorting Hat, Ciara has done well for her house each year. Her quick wit and acute sense of knowledge have made her parents and previous teachers proud.
A Moment By Himself/Herself : Tucked into a corner of the Hogwarts Express, Ciara cracked open her newest purchase from the local bookstore by her home in Kent. Hiding her face behind the thick book, she didn't notice as a group of first years trooped by her compartment until one who seemed to have fallen behind strayed into the room. The girl looked utterly lost to Ciara, who had just peeked over her book to see what the noise had been. Raising a delicately arched brow, Ciara sighed and asked if the girl needed any help.
"Hi there...! Can I help you with anything?" Her tone was friendly and she offered a smile, putting her book down in her lap. The younger girl fidgeted and looked down mumbling something.
"Excuse me? ...What?" Cocking her head to the side, Ciara watched the girl who was probably only three years younger than her clear her throat and try again.
"S-sorry! I got lost and can't find my friends now...I'm a first year...I have no idea what's going on...!" Ciara smiled encouragingly, nodding. She had been there once too. Standing, she gently guided the girl back out into the crowded corridor. Other students were running up and down looking for people they knew or waving goodbye to parents. After a few minutes of looking, Ciara was able to reunite the girl with her new friends and slowly made her way back to her cabin. Shutting the door firmly on the noise, she picked up her book and resumed reading. Irys, her cat, jumped down from the luggage rack overhead and rubbed against her book edge, purring slightly.
"Alone at last eh, Irys?" Ciara scratched the sleek cat's head between the ears, smiling. She couldn't wait to get back to school and classes.
