Periwinkle stretched slighty, he was ratehr tired as the sun was finally beginning to set and he stretched out on the slowly cooling grass of the small bank just outside the entrance of the labyrinth Faythe had taken him here again at the dryads request. His guardian had since wandered off home, as Periwinkle had opted to stay out a while longer, enjoying the sun and wondering if he should head home, or in fact jsust go through the bizare maze and see if he could spend the night in the hall sof the goblin king, it had been a while since he had gone inside, and he was half curious to see if anything had changed at all. Wrinkling his nose slightly, he pulled his long braid over his shoulder, toying with the end of it slightly as he contemplated the entrance to the large maze.. It would be fun to run though it again.. he mused, but he wasnt sure... it was always more fun when he had companny to do that with...

Nirok stared in awe for a moment at the colossal maze lying before him. The sun was beginning to set and was bathing the entire labyrinth in a soft golden light. This was the first time he had really visited the labyrinth. It felt a little strange going somewhere without Henna but she had been too busy to come with him.
He was a little unsure whether to enter as it was already getting dark and he didn't know the way through the labyrinth. He was just about to turn back when he spotted a familiar figure lazing on a bank near to the entrance.
He'd recognise that purple plait anywhere.
"Peri!!" He yelled hurtling towards the older creature.

The dryad paused for a moment, the end of his braid wrapped tightly around his fingers as he tried to tip his hea back, then to one side, and then the other before finally giving up and pushing himself up to a sitting position to see who had just called out to him.. he wasnt expecting companny was he..? he paused for a moment, it took a little longer than usual in the semi darkness now for him to work out who was calling hi, but when he did see the familiar figure be beamed, bushin ghimslef up and waving at the still ribbony goblin corsea. "Nirok!" He called back with a happy smile, waving at the friend he had not seen for a little while now... in fact.. no.. Nirok had just grown into his current form when he had seen him last, oh it was good to see the young goblin again! He beamed at him, his large purple blue eyes happy as he laghed, seeing his friends always put him in such a good mood! "What are you doing here?" he asked happily, latching onto his friend and giving him a hug.

Nirok grinned merrily at his purple friend.
"I don't know really. I just wanted to have an explore. I haven't visited the labyrinth and since I'm big enough to now I really ought to. I guess mostly for fun. It's great to see you here. I was just on the verge of going back. I hadn't really realised this place was so big."
His grin became a little sheepish. He felt a little foolish now for being so intimidated but he was so pleased to see his friend that it hardly seemed to matter.
"What are you doing here?"

"I was planning on going through to poke Jareth, I really only came here to have a look at the place, its so big and pretty and the eyechen makes me giggle.." he paused, "I was meant to be showing Faythe, my guardian the way through, but he had to go home agian in the end, so I just sort of stayed here." he paused "I usually go through with Illiam, and usually try to push him in the bog.." he paused an giggled, remembering some of the silly faces the Drow had pulled while they were going through there.. "But I was also thinking of going home because its not so fun being in the labyrinth when you're all on you own.." he paused.. "Oooh! We could go through togther! I know the way! Eidolon showed me.. as well.. its is sort of him really.. and so I dont think we'd get too lost! If you'd like to go that is! You could come and see Jareth as well!" He smiled at his slightly younger friend, he liked the goblin! He was such a nice young man!

Nirok laughed at the idea of the chirpy dryad attempting to push the serious drow into the bog. He had no idea what would have happened had peri succeeded. As far as anyone knew there was no way of removing the smell once you had been touched by the waters of the bog. He tried to picture the drow's face.
"I'd really like that. It sounds like fun. Except... I'm not sure about meeting the Goblin King. I mean surely he has more important things to do than to greet silly young goblins."
He thought about it some more. He would very much like to see the labyrinth with his friend. He wouldn't have to meet Jareth at the end. This was a golden opportunity because if he got lost he would not be alone.
"Oh what the hades. Let's go!"

"Yay!" Periwinkle clapped his hands together and bounced happily on the spot once, "Come on then Nirok!" He trilled happily, reaching out and grabbing hold of the Corsea's hand. He probably want really that much taller than Nirok, if he even was at all, he haddnt really grown much in his change from Corsea to Corsier, he was still rather little with rather too much hair. It was just the way it went with Peri. "We go in this way!" He stated, tugging lightly on the hand he had taken a hold of as he lead the way over to the open entrance to the large maze. "It wont matter if we get a little lost." He stated with a smile, I can just climb the wall hand poke it in the right places until Eidolon comes to find us, he's a hunnie like that!" he smiled again, giggles happily at some eyechen that peered at the and paused.. "We go this way!" He stated, heading off to the left with a happy smile. "You know.. we'll go the right way for the mot part, but I think we have to get lost a couple of times, its so shiny in here and its always nice to see new parts of it!"

Nirok began to feel the pretty dryad's boundless enthusiasm almost immediately. He bounced happily along beside him his ears flapping slightly.
"I never really did understand about Eidolon. He's the spirit of the labyrinth? does everything have a spirit?"
He watched the eyechen as they passed it. He had heard about it before of course. It was currious stuff. I sort of fungus with eyeballs growing on mossy-looking stalks. The eyes tended to follow people about the maze. They were also rumoured to have the property of changing the colour of ones eyes. However Nirok hardly relished the thought of eating one.
He nodded as the Dryad picked a direction seemingly randomly. It was nice enough just to wander, it hardly mattered where they went. Just so long as they didn't accidentally slip into the bog.

Periwinkle smiled, pausing by a particularly large lump of eyechen. It automaticially shifted, half peering at him, half over at Nirok. Blinking its large and small eyes at the both, in many different colours. "Itd funny stuff!" Periwinkles giggled, "And it can grow on almost anything.. though its really only easy to look after here, with allthis fairy dust on the walls.." He nodded, gesturing at the bands of sparkling dust that coated the stonework. "It will change your eyes though, but i hear it doesnt geel very nice.." He giggle and poked one of the stems, watching as all the eyes schlorped back into the body of the plant like the eyes on a snail. He giggled again. "Eidolon is pretty much the labyrinth.. the stone is alive.. its him.. he's sort of an embodyment of the whole place, at least that is how I understand it.." he wrinkled his nose lightly. "Ooh! You need to be careful of the Oubliette's! If you fall into one of them it'll be really really hard to get you back out." he stated.

Nirok nodded. It was interesting. He had never met Eidolon himself but everyone knew about him.
He also agreed that he did not want to fall into an oubliette. They did exactly what it said on the tin and there were so many that even Jareth had probably never seen most of them. Least of all remembered enough to free stray goblins from them. He moved in a little closer to the dryad, pausing only to have a go at prodding the eyechen which caused a burst of cheerful giggles.
"have you ever been in one?" He asked "What's it like?"

"I peered into the top of one.." Periwinkle said. They had been walking in a straight line for a while now, and he suddenly caught Nirok's hand again and pulled him through and oddly invisible opening inthe wall. "Now we go back left." He said, "Its a quicker path to the castle.." he nodded again. "I dont think the oubliette looked very nice, it was all dark.. and there seemed to be a mop sticking out of the wall.." he shrugged. "The labyrinth is full of really weird things and place... Ludo might still be around somwhere.. but I've not seen him in a while.." he shrugged slightly, still holding onto the goblins hand. "Fracking Aardvaak!" Echoced from behind them as they stepped out into a courtyard like area and a small stone bounced across the floor from a hole in the paving. Periwinkle giggled, these odd little creatures were always winging eachother by stealing their paving stone, so he quickly scampered away from Nirok and went and replaced the stone at that had been lifted up. "There you are weird little hole man!" he called down tot he now sedated creature and smiled at Nirok. "So many odd creatues!"

Nirok resisted the urge to lift the stone to peer underneath. He hadn't understood what the little man had said but it hadn't sounded very polite. He laughed at Peri. He didn't think there was a creature alive that Peri didn't have a simple, cheerful affection for.
"I hadn't realised that there were such a lot of creatures living in the maze. I mean there are all the creatures Jareth is sending off in orbs. But you don't get "hole men" in orbs. At least I don't think you do. What do you suppose they do down there?"
He had a vision in his head of little towns and a miniature version of teh labyrinth all built beneath their feet.
"Isn't The King ignoring Ludo for his part in that particular embarrassing event that is not to be spoken of ever? I mean not that any of it was really Ludo's fault but I'm sure his majesty doesn't like to be reminded."
The "Sarah" incident was by now legendary. Everyone had heard about it and everyone had been equally admonished for gossiping and told never to mention it again. No one really knew what Jareth had seen in the human girl in the first place. Humans were not especially pretty. Not when you compared them to the splendour of many of the labyrinth's denizens at any rate. Peri for example was far prettier than any human Nirok had encountered. Not that that had been a greta many. He felt sure Jareth could have done better. Sometimes it was a little embarrassing to have such a flighty monarch, he did tend to do extravagant things on a whim.

Periwinkle giggled, crouching down again and tapping the top the slab again only to have it lift up.. and shuffle round a hundred and eighty degree's and plop back into place. "Oh I dont think anyone would want such rude little things in their houses.. i mean.. they'd turn everything around and move it all over the place.." he chuckled. "And well, I expect they sit down there plotting the best way to steal eachother slabs.." he smiled again. "Oh.. I know he's ignoring Ludo, but he's still around here somewhere.. just like that little fox man and his doggie.. they're all still here abouts, but they just avoid Jareth because, as you said.. he's a wee bit annoyed at them.. Now.." He stood up.. "We dont want to go down there.." he said pointing at a path, there is no sense in getting too close to the bog unless we have too.. I mean.. Eidolon moves the walls around now and then.. but not so often any more as he's friends with a lot of us.." Periwinkle didnt know about spectere.. "We also will probably do better if we take the middle path rather than the right one as we wont have to talke to those sillylying not lying guard men.. only everyone knows its the right door then you jump the oubliette.. the helping hands arent really all that helpful you see.." he smiled. "We can go past the crystal grove if we take the middle path, its really pretty!"

Nirok was only slightly bemused by what the Dryad had said. Helping hands? Lying notlying men? But he basically understood. The labyrinth held it's dangers but also it's fair share of annoying trivialities. Some could be fun but most were easier to avoid.
His ears perked up at the sound of the crystal grove.
"That sounds interesting. Let's go there! Is that where jareth gets the crystal for his orbs?"
He skipped along beside the dryad, excitement making him bouncy.

"I'm not really sure..!" Peri said with a smile as they walked together down the odd winding, turning path, stared at by the odd clump of eyechen and little worms and the suchlike. "Its very pretty, large jutting fingers of the stuss, and tree's with cold and silver leaves and fruit that looks like rubies.." he smiled.. "You dont want to pick anything of course.. but its really a very pretty place to look at.." e smiled.. "I heared once that it you pick anything you forget that you were ever trying to go anywhere and just stray in the crystal grove and stare at the pretty tree's for the rest of your life.. its a little scary, but if you're careful its well worth it.." he smiled and gave his friends hand a squeeze. "Its just through here!" he stated, pointing to an archeay that was twisted with gold and silver vines.
