I dont know about you guys, but so far 2 of my original gamecube controllers have broken. The thing is, its the C stick, the pad works fine but when the C stick is either pressed up or down whatever is happening on screen will carry on going up or down even though the C stick has moved back to neutral position. For 007, to point your gun in the air you must nudge the C stick up. So i do it and james bond doesnt just stop at pointing up, he wants to put his arms over his head, often leading me to lose! Its so frustrating!!

Has anyone else had any problems like this and have you been able to fix them?

Hmm something similar happened to my 7 year old spoilt cousin - he just got his dad to buy him a new one...

But personally it's never happened to any of my controllers...

Something like that happened to my control stick xp

When its staying still, it still acted like it was pressing it up O.o'

I blamed it on SSBM ^^

The solution is just to go get another controller. What you have to make sure of is that it is NOT a Madcatz controller. I got one of those and its cheaper, but the Analog stick became messed up in less than a week. If you wear out your controllers by pushing the buttons/tilting the sticks to hard, then they will mess up. I've heard of one guy who's spent a good deal more money buying controllers than games because he just kept being too hard on them (he used over 20 controllers on SSBM and they all busted).

Before you all rush out to buy controllers, make sure you try this first:

Hold X and Y and press start. Then Hold it for a moment or two.

That should fix your issue.

Yeah, I wore out the analog stick on one of my controllers already. Pushing up hardly does anything now.

Yes, the same exact thing happens to my controllers... but then it starts to happen on more of my games. Sadly I've gone threw 3 controllers and it looks like I will habe to buy a new one again. (But it could be that I rap my controllers stil or rap them wrong because I used to rap my N64 controllers and I still have all of the ones I bought and they all still work fine) besides I had someone tell me "Ha... Nintendo isn't that reliable either now is it" in effect to come back to the PS2 comment that I made but I have never had a problem with any of my systems or controllers until now so it might be just my time to have some bad luck or something...I don't know.

Really?!?! I didn't know that I will try that right now with my controller and see if it works and I will also try that on further controllers. Thanks for the tip... it will sure save me some money if it works knowing the luck that I'm having with the GC controllers smile

Also, I think pressing L,R,Z, and Start at the same time work. If you are wondering why this is hapening it's that when you turned on the gamecube it was pushed in one direction and it automatically thinks that it should keep going in whatever direction. Also, you could pull out the controller and put it back in. For the Wavebird you could just turn it off then turn it back on. No offense but I can't believe you just got rid of an entire controller without asking someone why it was doing that.

Also, my wavebird is acting strange. When it is still turned on it will just stop working. It's set at the same frquency and it's still turned on and everything it just doesn't work.

I did try taking the controller out and putting it back in, but when I put it back in it would just continue doing what it was doing. (Give me a little something here I'm not a "noob" at this or anything.) I even tried cleaning the GC socket and the controller socket with a que tip which actually works for a while, (Told to try that by a guy at a local Best Buy) but when it stops and then I am forced to throw my controllers out.

Is it an official controller with the Nintendo seal of Quality?

yeah, my cube controller OFFICIAL ONE, keeps on thinking i'm pushing it to the right, but i'm not, i would pull it out and put it back in, but it still keeps on doing it. Could it be because some water got into the control port on the controller itself? Or should i just go get a new one?

I already said that most likely the controllers are just worn out. Some of them can have this happen easily. ESPECIALLY if you use a Madcatz controller.

My 'bird does that too. I think it just does that when the batteries get low, although, it might work fine the next day. But it usually starts acting up as time passes, so I think it's just battery-related.

A easy but weird fix that has worked for me, step 1 hit(but not hard) your controler on the floor (both handle sides but not the face of the controler) 2. Find the problimatic stick and rotate it 360 degress a few times(doesnt matter if clock wise or counter) and then test the stick a good game is Super Smash Bros. Melee since the movement control is very sensetive if theres still a problem rotate the sticks again alittle more rapidly.

This fix might losen the sticks alittle but the "moving character" problem will be most likely fixed. But if your sticks are really trashed kinda like you see the ones at the gamecube demo kiosks after the little kids were done with them then theres a little hope to fix then.
