Korumio was discovered approximately 3000 Earth Standard Years. The planet was already settled by a vast, near space-age technology bearing race, and first contact with the humanoid Korumians took place a year after discovery. The Korumian people were significantly advanced for non-space faring people and adapted easily. Soon after contact, the Korumians colonized their entire system and neighboring systems. After the last wave of expansion, the Confederacy commissioned a shipyard to be built in orbit of Korumio, however the onslaught of the civil war put the construction on hold. During the civil war, the Korumian people revolted, joined the Alliance and removed the Empire's base on their world. After the culmination of the civil war, Korumio joined the Galactic Federation as a member world. The Galactic Federation picked up the plans to construct a shipyard in orbit of Korumio and catapulted Korumio into a power position.
