I rented Viewtiful Joe a while back, and I really loved it. It's a sidescroller, a type of game we just don't see enough of outside of handhelds lately. The slo-mo/fast forward fighting is addictive fun. The best part, it's got that tokusatsu style we all love! It's probably the only tokusatsu game that will be easily available to the American consumer. Viewtiful Joe 2 is out now, and I plan to buy it. There's a Viewtiful Joe anime on the way too. Is anyone else a fan? Hopefully, Viewtiful Joe will be the first of many tokusatsu things to come to America.

Actually I just bought the PS2 version of the game oh... four days ago. I am a Dante whore. I'm willing to admit this. I absolutely love the game, but it left me with one question.
Why in the hell did I wait this long to buy the game? It has been $20 on Gamecube for several months and the PS2 Version is only $30... why oh why did I wait? gonk
Fantastic unique gameplay. The setting is absolutely lovable. The boss dialogue leaves me in stitches. It is just soooooo good.
... and Dante in black briefs is sexy. xp
You guys know to avoid the PS2 Holiday Demo Disc like the black plague right? It deletes everything on whatever memory cards are plugged in. I didn't experience this myself, but it is good to pass the word on. ^^

Crap, now I have to get Viewtiful Joe for PS2, don't I?
I have the PS2 Holiday Demo Disc! I hadn't gotten around to playing it yet. Thank you so much for the warning!

Dante is in black briefs for his non-powered form and his usual outfit for when he's powered up. He pretty much plays exactly like Joe. There are a lot of ignorant ******** on the internet who just assume that Dante must play like Alastor. Dante transforms and reverts just like Joe. He has slow motion, speed up and zoom. Slide Kick and a diagonal kick from the air (which is called a Sparda Kick for Dante) are a couple of his purchasable moves. He throws his sword like a boomarang instead of having a Voomarang. Basically the difference comes into how Dante's punch moves are used.
Down and Punch is the same sword slash used to pop enemies up in DMC. His ground combo involves a couple of sword slashes finishing off with a blaze of bullets from Ebony and Ivory. Punching in the air fires one of his guns, and if you buy the move that was in place of Joe's Air Punch Kick Combo then Dante can fire both Ebony and Ivory in the air.
He also has greater range for zoom punches as well since they are now repeated sword stabs.
Dante's dialogue with the bosses is great. It is also amusing seeing him in black briefs at the beginning and getting pounced by Trish. 3nodding
Oh yeah, you are welcome for the demo disc warning. Be sure to tell other people about it. Of course the thing is harmless to play if you leave your memory cards unplugged, but I'm avoiding the thing entirely myself.

I just heard today, of someone whose memory cards were raped by the demo disc. I don't know if I'll mess with it. I might get rid of it so I don't forget, play it one day, and delete all my game data.

I can't believe they let a disc ship with that kind of error on it.
More Dante in VJ rantage...
Alastor is supposed to be the spirit in Dante's sword. He starts reading from his diary about how Dante was mean, hurt him by slamming him into Marionettes, left him behind when he left for Somewhere Island, and that Dante never apologized for his mistreatment of him.
After the fight Dante promises to never take him for granted ever again. XD

What's really sad is that the demo disc was distributed by Sony through their magazines.

I don't see anything wrong with it...Well aside from the remixed tracks that were supposed to be added but weren't, the shoot/jump buttons are backwards. Some people can get used to it easily but many hardcore Mega Man gamers are mentally programmed to shoot with the left button & jump with the right. I would bother to get used to it but seeing how all the other Megaman games still have the old way, I don't see the point. I think the game would've been better if Capcom Japan made it personally.

That kind of reminds of the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on SNES that had the buttons mixed up. There were many times I dove off a ledge slashing instead of jumping. sweatdrop
