Janja and Jedi had arrived in the jungle, and Janja couldn't help but feel like she was at home. She felt horrible for leaving behind her mother, father and sister- and any other family they were supposed to meet. It felt worse knowing she'd taken Jedi away from all of that as well. Now she definetely was in for some trouble, and she had no doubt in her mind that her parents would easily guess where they went. Her belly had grown, her appetite followed along and Janja could no longer even pretend she was going to have cubs.
To try to clear her mind, and to try to give Jedi some space (since she'd no doubt grate her sister's nerves as the ordeal continued on), Janja had gone off for a walk. When she got back to the waterfall, she'd been reminded of Hayate and how she'd promised to come see him again- and wondered if he would be around. It was with this much more comforting idea of seeing an old friend in the back of her mind that Janja headed for the area where she'd first and last seen her friend.

Hayate was older now, he fur on his head much more fluffy then before, his muscles toning and filling out, his eyes still the same emerald green hat would constantly shine in the sun. Flicking his tail he peered round there wasn't much to do in the jungle as of late, no one to go see, his family was more spread out now, when he was younger things were so much simpler and easier, made him more happy.
Everything was dull now.
Sighing he weaved through the trees careful as to not get a paw stuck in the weaving vines that layered the earth where he walked. Things had been so much simpler before, he had a friend before, but she too had gone with the wind, and he was not yet old enough to leave and go into the world on his own.
Nothing seemed to be the same...

Janja reached the familiar tree without any interruption, and took a moment to look it over. She was certain she was in the right place, but she couldn't be sure if Hayate had passed by here recently. Pressing her head against the trunk, making it look almost like she'd gotten stuck to it after head-butting the tree, she looked down at the roots and vegetation at her feet thoughtfully.
Soon she would have at least one little one to care for, but she had her sister to help her. Her sister had asked questions about how it happened, Janja was worried about those same questions from her parents, and now she had a moment to wonder what the cub would think when it could ask. It seemed she'd found something she'd be explaining for quite some time, so it was a good time to start working on some good answers.

Hayate shimmied himself up a tree and crouched, and nearly launched himself to the next tree. For being a mix of a lion and leopard it did have is perks he had to admit, though others were not quite sure what he was. But that was just fine and dandy he was Hayate, he was coming up into his own with age and time.
He was heading towards a familiar place where he prayed to see with a familiar face, but how many moons ago had she made that promise, he wondered if she had forgotten about him perhaps.
She probably was happy where she was.

Janja continued to stare at the ground peacefully as she tried to straighten out the facts in a simple, easy to remember and least incriminating way. All her thoughts had gone into worry about being pregnant at first, and then worrying about what to do, then the trip to the Jungle.. now, this was what she had to figure out. She didn't get the chance, though, for her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of rustling leaves nearing her.
"Hm?" she murmured, lifting her head up and looking skyward. The pregnant youth had reason to be wary, but somewhere in the back of her mind she expected it would be Hayate. Of course, she wouldn't acknowledge that idea- and slunk back a bit.

Black and white caught his eyes and seemed to entice and entrance him for a moment, Hayate and his green hues tuck on the familiar figure before him, seeming so perfect, at such a perfect time, he had missed her a lot, very much so. She was back, had she come looking for him?!
He hadn't noticed her stoach yet, but he jumped out into the open, a smile on his face.
"Your back, you're here! Janja I missed you!" he stated beaming, tail flicking behind him, "How have you been, how were the pridelands?"

Janja allowed herself to be surprised when Hayate popped out despite the feeling that it only ever seemed to be Hayate that turned up when she was in this particular spot. She sighed loudly and relaxed a little bit, forgetting for the moment about the bulging belly hanging beneath her.
"Hayate!" she beamed, hopping a step closer, "I missed you, too-"
She didn't really give an answer about the Pridelands, and instead fell silent after that and beamed. She'd found her friend, just as she'd hoped, and that was what mattered! Thinking of this, and her time in the Pridelands, she suddenly became self-conscious of her stomach and couldn't help but step back again and almost move to try to hide her stomach. Her smile faltered, but did not fade.

Hayate smiled but as she took a step back, he tilted his head, his ears fell back and his tail lay limp behind him, his shoulders hunching forward a bit, did she...not want to see him, was he too much, was she mad he hadn't gone looking for her yet, met her in the pridelands like he said he was going to? But...he hadn't grown enough he thought, though was she still mad?
Was she..hiding herself from him?
No don't," he said sadly, "Don't hide yourself from me...what did I do wrong?"

Janja was startled by Hayate's reaction, not realizing just how her own self-consciousness was coming off. It was just about as startling as Jedi's anger at her hestiation to admit to it all that night they'd left the pridelands. She didn't have a lot of time to weigh what would be worse, letting Hayate think she was mad at him or having him think.. goodness knows what if she just told him.
She frowned. Why was this so hard?
"N-nothing!" Janja tried to reassure him, but knew it wouldn't be any good unless she stopped trying to keep her pregnant belly hidden. Hesitantly, she stood more naturally and decided she had to explain, "I came back sooner than expected, my sister and I left- I had to."

Hayate saw her frown, and felt even worse, he had upset her, it was evident, what did he do to deserve this, he didn't mean to make her upset, honest, he was just so happy to see her after so long, he had been counting the days until he could go find her on his own.
Had to leave?
Why?
"Are you alright, did somehting happen, is everyone okay?" asking about her family, anyone else she knew he didn't know of, why did she have to leave?

Janja could see how badly this was going, and felt worse and worse. Hadn't she just been trying to plan the best way to tell this story to people? Where had all her well thought out plans gone so suddenly? This wasn't fair, she was only making it worse. She glanced over to the tree she'd been leaning on, as if hoping for some hint at what she'd thought out before but nothing came.
This wasn't supposed to be hard.
"I'm pregnant," she said very suddenly and very quickly, finally spitting it out and looking almost like it caused her pain to admit it.

Hayate shifted his paws in front of them, letting his claws somewhat dig into the soil beneath him, his green eyes focused on her, ears still back, a frown on his face, he had done something wrong, he had to have! Why else would she be looking at him like she was, did she get mad about having to come find him or something?
What did he do, what happened?
She...she was...?
He felt his stomach drop, the pridelands couldn't have been too horrible, if she found someone to have a family with. "oh..." was all he could muster, his mind refusing to think logically anymore.
He should've left, gone to find her, maybe then he would have had a chance with her.
But she found someone else.
"Why did you leave then?" he asked softly, hurt in his voice, "Your...your mate won't want you too far away..."

Janja felt her stomach twist guiltily as she waited for Hayate's reaction. His very simple 'oh' didn't make her feel any better about it, and the pain in his voice only made it worse. She wasn't sure how she felt about the assumption that this came with a mate, though it was better than jumping right to the alternative despite it being the truth. At first, the only response she made was to shake her head.
"It's- it's not like that," she murmured, sighing and deciding to explain just as quickly as she had admitted it, "It was an accident, a stupid mistake I made- I don't even know how to explain why I- I was so easily fooled."
She wouldn't fall for such a thing again. Stupid males. Some of them, anyway.

As Hayate watched Janja shake her head, he raised a brow in confusion, green hues settled on her, why shaking her head, her mate didn't care she was so far from home? Was he stupid? He felt a tug of envy again at his heart, and his ears fell back again, tail curling behind him.
Not like that...?
He didn't understand.
He listened intently, and tried to make sens of it, had a male...had someone taken advantage of her, seduced her into something that she did not understand? Perhaps, it seemed so, and he felt guilty for making such an assumption that she had a mate.
He wished he knew who the male was...he wished to tear his eyes and tongue out for even stepping near his Janja.

Janja kept her eyes on Hayate until she realized he looked confused, wondering if she could explain anything more than what she had- she realized soon he wasn't actually going to say anything, and that made a little sad. Of course he must be surprised and disappointed in her- that was how he should feel! Getting pregnant accidentally was one thing, but by a stranger who you'd not really intended to see again and had no intention of seeing you again..
If Janja wasn't so worried, she might have laughed.
