my standards of Tidus and Auron and FFX characters weren't completely reached with FFXII, the only characters I like are Balthier, Larsa, Fran, Vayne, and Gabranth, maybe Cid. Vaan and Penelo were pointless especially cuz Vaan is the main character. Basch's storyline was so confusing that I couldn't pinpoint if i liked him or not and i don't see why Reddas was even a character either. They're better combat-wise but I really don't like most of these characters.

I do like most of those same characters, especially Balthier and Larsa. Penelo and Reddas and all... It's not that I don't like them; there are few characters in any Final Fantasy that I really dislike, but I just don't care about them.
XII didn't really focus on the characters the way most of the other recent Final Fantasies have, and I don't really like that so much, but the characters I do like along with -- I don't know the word for it; maybe the best way to put it is the realism of the characters... Almost made up for it.

Balthier was by far my favorite. I also liked Ashe (although she kinda grew on me), Penelo, Basch and Dr. Cid. I kinda liked Vaan, too. There were actually very few characters I didn't like, mainly being Fran (god, her accent and attitude drives me nuts) and, well, some parts of Larsa really bothered me. stare
I really liked how the story didn't focus so much on the characters, though.

I would have to say that Basch was the coolest from FF12. I didnt think too much of the other charectors.

Balthier is my favourite (i havent finished the game yet). I've always liked pirates, but a sky pirate?? Uber cool 3nodding heart

Hm.... I am only in the Dreadnought Leviathan, so I obviously haven't finished the game (Curse you, Judge Ghis!!!!!). However, of late I have grown to like Vayne. He seems to like Dalmasca and its citizens, and want to help them. We'll see what my opinion shall be at the end of the game. Side note: Fran is cool, too. I usually have her as my leader.
EDIT: Okay, I'm off of the Leviathan..... and Vayne is being stupid. Now, I like Ashe and Vaan (I think something's going on with them! ^_^) and the Sotted Imperial found in Yugri's Magicks shop. He's funny. Larsa is pretty cool as well. He sounds exactly as I did before when I was around his age.

by far my fav was fran. I beat the game once and playing again. She is my strongest caracter and I use her as my main character in the party

i like Balthier.... but i have a thing for pirates so.... no surprise that i like him...... I like all the characters (except Vayne) in ff12...i don't disslike any of them...... I did like Vaan a little less though, when i started, but now that i'm at the end of the game, i actualy would have to say he's in my top 4 fav characters now.

I personally like all of them to a certain extent although if I had to choose one best character out of all of them it'd be Balthier. This final fantasy may not be my particular favorite (I <3 FFX though!) but it definitely has great graphics and an interesting story line.
