The Lioness had left again, her star had called, and though she wanted to be with Uri a bit longer, she knew she'd see him again. She had only hoped the means of her return weren't so... well. Dramatic.
The pair had had a fling, thinking nothing would come of it, he was a cheetah, and she was a lion afterall. Oh how wrong they ahd been. The white lioness now had a belly that was noticebly larger, which made hunting a bit harder for her. But that was the least of her worries. She knew she wasn't fat, but pregnant.
A sad sigh escaped her. She had always wanted cubs, but imagined the circumstances to be different. She was worried how Uri would react. She cared about him, but didn't want to have to settle down with him for the rest of her life. She could only hope he'd still wish to be friends and wouldn't be angry she was carrying his... well... Cheetons.
She took a few more long strides and spotted that familiar watering hole. She was close now.

Mhuni and Kari had been in his strip of the Duma'Bara for less than half an hour, to his knowledge, and Uri felt like he was walking on air. He'd still not found out that Kari hadn't had to find a ....'donor' cheetah to have the cubs. It hadn't come up yet that Hasidi was the actual father. He'd told Kari to find themselves a good meal and rest up after their journey while Uri took a quick sweep of his territory.
Just a precaution, a bit of duty before he devoted himself to giving Mhuni and his dear dear Kari all his full attention. He didn't expect Dimu back for another week or two. So imagine his surprise when he emerged from the long grass by the waterhole, upwind from her, and suddenly saw her striking form amongst the grass on the other side.
"Dimu? Sweetheart?" The endearment was said in just a curious, friendly tone. They'd become more like friends lately, than flames. The fling had helped cure the loneliness and besides. She visited. Uri wouldn't want to tie her down nor tie himself to her. They were too odd a couple and weren't like Hasidi and Kari - entwined by full on love. Uri still cared for the white female...as a friend however. A friend only. Fun to talk to and jokingly flirt with but the flame had gone.

Dimu looked a bit distressed as she saw Uri and stood rather still. She took a deep bretah after a moment and took a few steps towards him. "Hello Uri... I know I wasn't due back for a while... but I have news." She said in an evan tone, trying not to sound excited, or depressed, as she felt a bit of both.
Call her old fashioned, but she had sort of hoped she'd have a lions cubs, not a cheetah's. But it was no use, what was done was done, she didn't regret it, but she was still nerve wracked about his reaction. So far he hadn't noticed anything, but she assumed it was due to the way she was facing him, it would be hard to notice the side her belly had expanded from such angle.

The even, almost bland tone worried Uri instantly and he swiftly closed the gap between her until they were in front of each other. That voice had made him assume the worst, all joy of the combinded company of Kari-cub-AND-Dimu fading in concern. He let a slight, worried frown crease his handsome face. Had something happened to his friend while she was out there? So help him, if someone had hurt her, he'd hunt them down lion or no...
"Is it bad news? Are you alright?" He kept his voice, soft, making sure he didn't jump to vengeful angry too soon. A comforting friend is generally better than angry mobs, doncha know, dear reader?

Dimu frowned and looked at the grass, thinking about the best way to approach this. "Well... Uri, I'm pregnant." She didnt know if he'd immediately jump to the conclusion he was the father yet. No, perhaps she'd have to explain that to him. She glanced up at him waiting for his reaction. Waiting to see if it sunk in that they were having hybred babies.

Uri couldn't help it. He tilted his head to look around her side in one swift silent motion. Sure enough, her belly was bigger, oddly juxtaposed with the lithe figure he remembered in his mindseye. Huh. (I wish to draw a cartoon of this. Complete with little question over his head. S'very amusing move in my mind.)
"...congradulations." He raised an eyebrow. She'd found a mate so soon after their affair? He was pleased to note he didn't feel sick with jealousy. Just a small twinge. Still concerned though...she hadn't been...raped or anything surely? Not his lovely friend? Surely not.
"Whose the lucky lion? I take it it wasn't planned."

Dimu seemed to grow frustrated. He wasn't comprehending it. "I haven't been with anyone since I left here." She said hinting at him her rose hued eyes growing a bit annoyed, but she sighed and felt her self calm down, before she looked back up into Uri's eyes. "You're the father." She said calmly.
She had known for a while now and was just now coming back to tell him. IT hadn't been that long sicne their little affair, and Dimu was not one to open up to otehrs, especially males. She would never have let anyone rape her either, she's rather be killed then be violated.

If African savannah cats could own and operate polaroids, it would have made a great photo. For three very long seeming moments, Uri's mouth just opened, all grace and decorum lost. It was like someone had throw a monkey wrench into the inner workings of his mind and a few gears had got stuck.

He was going to be a father?!!!?
Clunk - the wrench slipped and the gears started to turn - and he thought of Mhuni and Kari for a split second.Cheetahs. And lions. Could breed?
Holy HELL he was a father!
"I am a father? Oh. Well. I...I...Dimu?" He shook his head slightly and offered a sort-of-smile. He was clearly still shocked and wanted to know how she felt about it.
(And that puncuation rape was totally needed. Can't have too many ??!!!?!??!s at times like this XD')

She offered her own smile, glad to see he wasn't throwing a fit about it. She nodded and her tail flicked around behind her a few times. "I didn't know lions and cheetah's could breed... I hope... this won't affect our friendship?" She asked pleadingly. Uri was her best friend, and she hoped the fact he and her were expecting wouldn't scare him away.
She'd always wanted cubs, and supposed Uri wouldn't be her mate, no, they were both too... no. They could stay friends though, and perhaps the cubs could travel with Dimu, then when they were a bit older, if some of them wished to stay with Uri, they could/

"Of course not. You're my best friend, pet." He inclinded his head and shakily offered one of his most charming and reassuring grins. It had to be odder for her after all. Finding out she had...little cheetah-lion-cubs inside her belly...
"I didn't know we could produce life until now. My Kari's just arrived...with her son." He mused on this a moment, since clearly they'd have someone who'd been though it all at paw, before turning all his attention back to Dimu.
"You're happy, right? I mean...we're friends, not mates. But when the cubs visit with you, I'll be the best dad I know how to be." He assumed they'd travel with her. Following the stars. Besides, the Duma'bara weren't very welcoming to hybrids, as he'd told the white lioness once before when he explained who Kari was. Plus he was speaking a bit much in exitement and hope she would want him to still be a dad to their cubs as well as a friend.

Dimu gave him a friendly nuzzle. "I'm glad we can still be close." She said with an endearing smile. Even if Neither of them wanted to settle down together, there was no reason they couldn't both be a part of the cubs lives.
"She mated with the lion right? I'd like to meet her. Perhaps her cubs could be friends to ours..." She said a smile. Dimu was relieved they were both taking this so well.
"Of course! I can't say I dreamed of having... half cheetah, half lion cubs, but I have wanted to have cubs to travel with me..." She chuckled again then addressed the second part of his comment. "Yes, I think we should remain best friends, but I will certainly have the cubs visit regularily."

"Yes, her mate's a lion named Hasidi - they live in the Kusini pride, but if you ever travel that way I can't see why the cubs couldn't be friends." He smiled, trying to picture such a scene. Of course, the cubs of Kari's were mostly pink lovelies in this idea, since he hadn't met them all yet. But his and Dimu's...
He grinned at her. "They might be half and half, but they'll be damn fine cubs. Your beautiful and I'm looker too, and we're not stupid creatures either. We'll give them the best of both worlds. Don't you think?"

Dimu chuckled and nodded, "Oh yes, not only will they be exotic looking, but they will be good hunters, and very elegant in step." She said with a grin. It was true though. Uri's colors and hers complimented one another. Some pairs Dimu had seen clashed a bit, yet had gorgeous cubs, so she assumed her and Uri's would the the most attractive in the land. [To her anyway.]
"Kusini? I've never come across any lions from there... where is it? And yes, I think maybe after they are born we can all go visit Kari and have the cubs meet." Quite a family they all were now. But it made Dimu happy. Now she would have a few little ones to keep her company on her travels, and to dote on.

"Kari'll help us find it." Uri nodded, taking in her words and developing ideas about how their cubs would be. Strong yet sleek. As agile as cheetahs but with a lion's power. As bright and lovely as Dimu but with his own dark charms. The world wouldn't know what hit it! He couldn't help the grin anymore.
He'd never be lonely again! They'd be his children to look after just like the few times he'd spent with Kari. Counting and games and passing on more than just good looks.

Dimu nodded in agreement. "Yes. We both get to be part of some wonderful cubs lives." She said with a chuckle. She was glad this accident had happened, and they were both so excited about it. True they weren't in love, no quite the contrary, they were friends, which she supposed was a kind of love...
"Shall we go meet this Kari and her son then?"
