The boy's bright pink eyes scanned over the Savannah quickly, narrowing in concentration at a bug not too far off. He was hunkered down in the grass not too far from his mother's chosen area of residence, 'stalking' a grasshopper. Now, he had no actual intention of eating the thing (ew) which the bug had finally realized. It seemed, now, to have resigned itself to the fate of a punching bag, putting up with the annoying little lion as there didn't seem to be much else it could do to get away. That was, at least until something or someone else came along to distract it.
Once more Rudo pounced upon it, then danced around the bug's stretched out form, doing a little victory dance. The entire sight must have been amusing to anyone that may have watched, his bum twitching in the air, tail going this way and that as he tossed his head. "Who's da man? I'm da man! Oh yeh oh yeh! HA, BOOYAH!"

Safi'dhamira trundled through the grasses with a sleepy yawn, having recently woken from a nap. Old enough now to be allowed to go for short wanderings from the den on her own, she'd decided to stretch her legs in the sun for a bit. The little cub had no real plans for her venture, but that changed when she heard celebratory shouting in a vaguely familiar voice.
Following the sound, she soon located its source - her cousin Rudo, doing some kind of silly dance. Mira couldn't help but giggle as she watched, giving herself away.

The giggling fell upon the boys ears, but rather than be embarrassed or ashamed, Rudo stood up straighter and stuck out his chest. Grinning, overconfident as always, he turned his attention from the miserable grasshopper to let his gaze fall on his slightly younger 'cousin'. "Morning Safiiiii," He sing-songed, bounding over to press his side to hers and bump their temples together, "Did you see that totally awesome pounce I did?"
The boy took a few bouncing steps away, crouching low to the ground as he reinacted the entire thing with a 'fierce' grin upon his maw. "I was so totally cool when I saw it this morning! I knew I'd have to sneak up on the thing 'cause they're so fast! So i crept up really sllooow like this..."
Rudo demonstrated as he spoke, crawling through the grass before her with his sight trained on where he'd last seen the grasshopper. "It didn't even know i was there cuz I'm so sneaky--and then i POUNCED!"
Rudo leapt towards the spot he'd left the bug, paws grabbing at the... dirt. Blinking, his ears perked up again and he stood up straight. "Where'd it go?"

"Morning, Rudo!" Mira readily bumped sides and heads with her pale yellow cousin, purring. "No," she admitted, giggling, "Just your dance."
It was to prove of no consequence, though, as Rudo took it upon himself to reenact the whole affair, sending the smaller cub into giggles again. And then, when the climactic moment came--!
...there was no more grasshopper. Oops. "Didn't know I was s'posed to watch it. Sorry."

"Yeah well.." He huffed, stitting up, and pursed his mouth. "I uh... i'm just so good.. It ran away! It was just too scared of me is all!" Well, that was partially true at least.
Rudo settled after a second then grinned, "You wanna see something cool Safi?" He asked, grinning and sweeping his tail behind him in wide wags. "I found it the other day at the water hole! Its totally awesome!"

"Guess so," she agreed, as she usually did. Safi'dhamira was very much a follower, not a leader by any means. That probably had something to do with why she and Rudo got along so well; he liked to be in charge, and she was quite happy to go along with that.
"Sure!" Mira chirped, bouncing up on her paws in excitement. "What is it, huh~?"

"you gotta come see!" He shot back, then ran off a few steps towards the watering hole. Stopping over the next hill, he turned his head and grinned, "And by the way.. my danceing skills are great." The cub stuck his bum in the air and wiggled it again for a few moments while she caught up.
When she was beside him again, he laughed and once more took off at a run, "CAN'T CATCH ME!"

"Hey~!" Mira scrambled to catch up with the older cub, pale paws moving as quickly as they could carry her. "Rudo, wait for me!! I wanna see!"
If he just left her in the dust, she'd never get to see what he wanted to show her!

"C'mmoooonnn you can do better than that!" He urged her, always a few steps ahead even as he slowed down a bit to help her catch up. He was egotistical, after all, but not a total jerk. His mother had raised him to be kind to girls (thanks to only having a single girl in a pack of testosterone) but he wasn't the kind to go easy on others either. "Left right left right! Hup! Hup! Hup!"

"I'm littler'n you!" she protested, but dug in and tried to go faster anyway. She succeeded somewhat, but given her size, she still couldn't quite go as fast as her cousin. She was trying, though!

"Excuses excuses!" He teased, but waited anyway. Mom would back hand him if she caught him being mean to a girl, after all! Rudo kept her pace the rest of the way to the waterhole, leading her up to a short jetty reaching out into the water. "HERE IT IS!"
He looked down into the still water... at his reflection staring back up at him. "Isn't it beautiful?"

Mira was grateful for the reperieve, and especially glad to get to the waterhole. Young as she was, her endurance wasn't quite what Rudo's was. Standing beside him, she peered down into the water, curious.
"Well...yeah," she agreed, peering at the still pool. "Water is pretty shiny."

"Not the WATER," Rudo rolled his eyes, sounding a little aggravated, then grinned and puffed out his chest proudly. "ME! See?" He looked back down into the water at his own reflection and lifted his chin a little, inspecting his mug from all angles. His pink eyes glanced to her, then, "You're not half bad either. Really pretty lions belong together," He nodded.

Mira blinked, really quite confused for a moment. Why had they come all the way out here just for Rudo's reflection? "But...I don't need to look at the water to see you. I see you all the time!"
The cub tipped her head. "You think so? I do like my colors..."

"Well.. yeahh.." He hadn't really thought of that, more intrigued by the fact that he could see himself there, which had otherwise been impossible. When he'd discovered this he'd also discovered something very important that she didn't seem to be getting: he was gorgeous. Maybe if he explained hers a little more...
Rudo bumped his forehead against her cheek, looking down at the water with her. "Well yeah, they work well together. You're nice to look at so you're really pretty... and the water can show you that. You couldn't have known it without seeing yourself, you see?"
