How come punk music, or should I say music in GENERAL, become so stereotypical?
I myself haven't been around long enough to see Green Day's older stuff, but I've downloaded it ALL. Don't get me wrong, I love their music, but what happened? The pure punk music it used to be, as corny as it seems. The music industry has become so mainstream. All it is now is labels and stereotypes.

music shouldn't be put under catigorys a person should like the music for the sound of the band and weather they like them or not but sometimes the line can be crossed between music and just plain wanna be's

Most mainstream bands sound the same, simply because you have to sound a certain way to be mainstream.
Sub-mainstrem, like Fuse's version of mainstream is pretty sui generis.

I don't claim to be a music expert and I don't know everything about how the world thinks of music. I think that you should just make music the way you want to and if people categorize it, then it okay. UNLESS they label it in a fashion that truly contradicts the message you were making in that music. In which case, you make the point more obivous. If people still don't get it, then you should stress over it because that just means they're stupid.

I Don't know who made Punk into the Bubble gum crap it is now. Many people think you're punk for the way you dress. Which is completely stupid because Punk is about the Music and thinking for yourself. Not following the masses just to be cool and it's not about fashion.

But hey... I figure- who cares? I got too wrapped up in the punk arguement when I was younger, and I always lost because I'm bad at arguing.

If you look at the underground punks actually wear jeans and old shirts and theirs grafitii on the walls and people are acting crazy. Well if you saw old pics of Green Day playing then you will know what I mean.
