 At this time Usiku would usually be taking advantage of the peacefulness of nightime by sleeping, but tonight the crickets kept him awake. They were so loud tonight that he decided to go out on a little cricket-catching spree for a bedtime snack in hopes of relaxing himself more. He's had crickets before and always found them not his favorite treat, but not the worst either.
Searching around in the long grasses of his usual place he is found, Usiku moved around the tall blades of grass, hoping to stir up some grub. But once the insects heard him coming, they quickly became silent which made it sort of difficult. He kept trying though, having the moonlight guide his way through the field.

her independence from her family grew more and more strong with each day. she still returned to her family's den, like every child she still needed her parents, but it happened to be that on this night, as she had been playing in the grass, practicing her gifts of her god. losing track of time, young Ida had fallen asleep, curled up in a dark smooth furred ball, hidden in the deep grass.
her breathing inflating her sides softly, and lowering them back down in a soothing rythem, completely unaware of any life around her.

Walking through the grasses, Usiku finally saw a cricket jump. It was quickly trying to escape the jaws of a snapping malu, so Usiki started to run. Trying to keep up with where the bug was going, he wasn't paying too much attention to his surroundings. He pounced at the insect as he came closer to it, but within seconds of doing this, he found himself laying on his back facing the stars. "Aw man..." he grumbled, getting up as he knew he lost the cricket for good, but when he looked around to see what he tripped on, he discovered another young malu. Usiku almost missed her since she was mostly black, but he caught a glimpse of the malu's white patches. His eyes widened when he realized she would shortly be awaking, so he dashed into hiding behind a near-by tree. Huffing from running, he tried to muffle the sounds of himself breathing. He didn't want to get caught after all. This malu would probably get mad for having her sleep disturbed. Hope she doesn't kill me..., he thought.

her head shot up as she felt something knock into her. still half asleep she blinked blurry, her ears drooping off to the side lazily as she stared off into the grass.
she remained motionless for a moment, slowly looking around as she started to wake up, and wondering just exactly what had woken her up.
"Ow" she mutter nibbling at the aria on her side that was feeling sore. them pushed to her feet
"is there a monster here?" she asked, her face still strangely blank, scanning the aria for anything unusual.

Seeing the malu getting up, Usiku watched her carefully to make sure she wasn't headed his way. There wasn't anything too close to the tree that he could run to alternatively just in case. It was pretty much be found or not be found. Usiku continued to be still and quiet, but giggled at the statement of there being a monster. Covering his mouth, he just realized that she might have heard that. Oops..

yeah, she had definitely heard that.
ears snapping forward, her eyes wide and suddenly awake, she crouched down low int the grass, staring at the tree that had made the strange sound, shuddering at the idea that there very well was a monster there.
she half confided turning around and running away, but the thought of her father was not far after that thought, he would not even consider running away! why he would stay and beat that monster up! thats what he would do, and thats what she was going to do.
using the gift of her God, she put on a brave face, completely masking the uneasiness she was really feeling, and started to stalk closer towards the tree.
once she was close enough to it, she took one large leap and landing facing the other side of the tree where a other Malu was hiding
"RAAAHHH" she roar.

Usiku wasn't exactly expecting this and fell backwards, landing right on his bottom. "AHHH!!!" he screamed, eyes so wide they looked like they were probably about to pop out. He stared at the other malu for a second before apoligizing profusely. "I'm sorry! I was trying to catch a cricket and then I jumped and tripped over you and... I'm just really really sorry!" He hoped that she would forgive him.

she very much was surprised and somewhat releaved that it was not a monster, but a pup looking about the same age as her. he was hard like the night. and hard to see in this darkness, if it where not for two very bright blue eyes.
letting her ear droop off to the side as his apologetic reaction, she was not angry at all at being woken up, she was used to waking up in fear, but she saw this as an opertinuty to test out her gift.
ears fanning back, she put on an expression of angry annoyance.
"I was having a peaceful dream! and you woke me up for a bug? how rude" she snorted and sat down, shoulders hunching in a very grumpy manner.

"I said I was sorry...It was an accident...", he told her frowning and drooping his ears. He didn't really know what else to say. Usiku didn't mean to trip over her or even interupt her peaceful sleep. He just wanted his cricket. He hoped she'd get over this soon because Usiku never liked fighting, whether verbally or physically.

Ida didn't know if he had bought her act or not. she was still apologizing, so it was a safe bet to say that he had. and that pleased her greatly.
"hum." she grunted, tilting her chin up in the air a little before she lowered her gaze back onto him, and let her ears fan forward. testing out another emotion, letting her features droop as she whimpered, eyes tearing up
"you scared me, I though a monster was going to eat me"
lets see how well he bought -this-

At the sight of the young female now frowning, Usiku felt horrible. He was a bit confused also, but currently, he didn't like the new expression he saw on this girls face. "Well no need to worry." he reassured her. "I'm no monster. I may have sharp teeth, but those are strictly for bugs and berries." he nodded, smiling sweetly.
Usiku wondered where her parents could be. Why would they let her stay out this late? Usiku didn't have these problems though. He figured that was one good thing about getting lost long ago. Although, he still missed his family and thought about them everyday.

Yeeess it worked again! she was getting good at this! she worked so hard to make her god happy, and it was actually working.
she was unable to keep up her mask though her delight, and her features broke into that of joy. beaming in delight at the other Little Malu.
" My name is Ida'lia!" she burst out happily.

He thought it was strange that the female malu kept switching her moods randomly, but he didn't say anything in case she had a mental problem. Maybe she was bipolar? He didn't know, but he did know she was confusing him. "Oh? Well, that's a very pretty name Ida'Lia." he beamed. "Mine is Usiku."
"I'm curious. Why are you out here alone so late?" he questioned her. He had been curious about it for a bit now and decided it was time to ask if they were exchanging names anyways.
For a moment, he also pondered on the whereabouts of the sly cricket that got away from Usiku's claws. It was a pity that it got away. How could such a small and dumb little creature get away like that? Then again... if Ida'Lia hadn't gotten in the way, he probably would have caught the thing. Not that he minded her company.

"oh" she uttered in a sound of realization, all her masks forgotten as she turned her head to looks around, as if just now realizing how late it was.
she didn't remember how long she had been out that night, but usually she was home by the time it was dark... what if Daddy was angry?
remembering that she had company she looked back over to the young Malu she was sitting infront of. tilting her head softly.
"uh... I was playing with my god, but then I fell asleep." she answered.
"why are you out so late?" she asked in turn. pushing herself to both her feet
"is your dad going to be angry with you?"

Usiku wondered what she meant by playing with her god. He knew he had one and all, but how would you play with it? You can't even see it. "Playing with your god?" he asked with the raise of an eyebrow. "How do you manage that?"
He then pranced around her half proud at the next question. "Well, you see... my parents aren't around anymore, so I can do whatever I want." he told her. Although he wasn't all the way happy about this, it did have it's advantages. No curfew. No rules. No getting in trouble. Life was perfect. Only thing was... he had no company also. The only company he had was another random malu once in a while and his lunch before eating it. His lunches, though, rarely kept good company as they were too worried about scurrying away from him.
He once had something like an adoptive mother, but he didn't know what happened to that. Aylen hasn't been seen for a while.
