(Just a note for myself - this is before Chaukari returns. Lalala...)
Uri had been patroling his border of the cheetah lands as he was supposed to for the past few weeks - even drove off an angry hyena with a little bit of help on one memorable occasion. In theory that's what he was supposed to be doing right now as he was fed, well rested and groomed to perfection. But instead he was waiting near the edge of his strip of land.
Dimu had said she'd be back again if she hadn't found her pride by now.
The selfish side of him hoped she hadn't. She was beautiful and charming company, interesting to talk to and his only friend out here. He still didn't mix well with other cheetahs...more so than the other males. It was because of his past he supposed. He got on alright but no friendships had formed. Whereas with Dimu...
He hoped to spot her white fur shining in the sunset soon enough. If not, well, Uri'd hope she found that pride and not some other, less happy fate. She deserved to find that place to call 'home'. Better she be happy else where he supposed, than here.
But here'd be nice.

She had wandered all day, walking back to the place that had pretty much become her home away from home. Her star seemed to hover over this land more often then it had anywhere else. Dimu was heading back into cheetah territory.
Now she was glad that she could see Uri again, but she was sick of the fact she couldn't find this group of lions. She had this suspicion she wasn't meant to go there. Atleast not yet. 'Maybe I have unfinished buisness with Uri...' She thought to herself, half hoping he wouldn't mind her imposing on him like this.
She could feel the warmth of the sun fading as she knew the sky was growing darker. She could see the pond and tree in Uri's territory, and spotted the dark figure with those white spots that stood out so brilliantly. She smiled and made her way over to him, keeping herself from running over to him and looking foolish. "I'm glad to see you are here. I was hoping I could impose on you for a while?"

"I asked a lion if they knew of the pride you seek, but no such luck I'm afraid." A slight shrug. At least he'd tried. Not that Tufah was a very good source of information but the young Pridelander was the only source of lion-news he could find. All the others he'd tried approaching to ask had been self rightous and unfriendly sorts. Nothing like this female before him.
"And as always, you're very welcome here Dimu." Uri got to his feet with a lash of his tail - which did show it off to a nice effect, he knew - happy to see her even if he knew it meant she'd be disappointed. Still, it meant he got some more time with her and he could cheer her up with his company and a good place to rest up a while before she traveled again.
"How have you been, dear one?" He padded a few steps forward and inclined his head.

"It doesn't surprize me. I'm starting to wonder if the pride is even real, or if it was just rumours and gossip." She said with a sad sigh as her ears folded back and she lowered her head with closed eyes. "I thank you for trying to help my investigation of them though. It is a kind gesture." She said with a smal smile as she let her placid features return to normal and she strode to stand comfortably close to the dark cheetah.
Truth was, even if she was sad about not finding her pride yet she was happy to see Uri again. He was the only one she had met on her travels whom she regularily traveled to meet. Whether it be because her star willed it, or she made her star bring her back, was questionable at best. "I thank you again for your continued hospitality."
As he stepped towards her she felt herself purr softly. She was so use to Uri's pressence and so comfortable around him she could let her guard down when she was near him. She couldn't say she was this calm around others half the time. "I am well. I've missed our chats though. How are you, still as handsom as ever I see..." She added with a warm chuckle.

Uri struck a pose, half-joking half-serious. Head high with half lidded eyes and an easy jesting smile, the 'regal' pose cheetah take so easily and with an elegantly curled tail. Though of course he was handsome, he was aiming to make her laugh again...she had a nice laugh.
"We must match then, beautiful." He purred the words.
Relaxing again into a more casual pose, he studied her. He gestured for her to follow him back towards his home, keeping his pace slow enough that they could walk alongside each other and talk. Back to his normal voice as well.
"Really, asking about the pride is the least I can do. Apparently quite a few are forming but they had no idea what each was like or where...you'll find them Dimu, in time."

And the response he wanted was what he got, for the white lioness laughed and strode along side him at a nice easy pace. The lioness would be content here, even if she had to stay longer then she was accustomed to. She was sure she could be content here though.
As they walked to his home she studied him some more through the corner of her eye before she replied. "I think I shall stay around here then until I hear more word about the pride. Perhaps travel out a bit to ask a few choice sources, but other then that, if you do not mind, I shall make this my base while I wait for word of them."
She was confident he wouldn't mind, she could even help him hunt and patroll if he liked, and if he wasn't affraid the otehr cheetah's here would start talking about his friendship to a lioness. She was also certain she would eventually find this pride, and if not, she'd find a new one.

"I look forward to spending time with you then, and will hep you with your search when I'm not patroling. Welcome to my home, then, it can be yours too for as long as you need, sweetling."
Uri led his companion to his current 'home base' within his area. It was a thick patch of scrub, complete with tree and only one easy way into the dense vegetation. Water was a bit of a walk but it was near long grass where hares lived and it was a warm, dry place to sleep.
All the way he'd flirted and joked, having a good time in her company as usual. Dimu always made him feel attractive, worthwhile and brought out his lighter side with her friendship.

Dimu followed her cheetah companion into his roost and looked around. Normally when she came by, she slept in the taller grasses near the border of his territory, near the pond. Only a few times had she come to this little thicket in which he took residence.
"You truely are too kind Uri, it's a shame there are not many other males as kind as you." She said almost automatically, unintentionally hinting she found such a characteristic desireable in a mate, and even after hearing herself say it, she found no need to panick over what she had said.
True she felt bashful, but she wouldn't show it. Uri made her feel comfortable and at ease. Most others Dimu had met seemed as though they were more interested in having a good time, or scared her, as that firekin male had. And again, true she didn't need or want a mate, but cubs, she also wanted a male whom she could get along with. Not have to lie with forevr and be tied down, but one who wouldn't skip out on the cubs if they wished to ever meet him, or live with him.

"And it's a pity there's not many girls like you Dimu." He returned the compliment freely, and showed her the highlights of his home. It was, after all, hers for a while now too. With that done he chose a comfortable place to sit in the last of the sunlight - easier to see each other by and besides, it cast a fetching glow on them both - and lay down.
"Tell me again of your past, Dimu? We hadn't got far into it last time we met before we heard that pack of mangey dogs along the border." He gestured with a paw - you know when I mean.
He'd been surprised at first to learn he liked hearing about the things that mattered to her and how she viewed the world. Now he wanted to know her past so he understood this beauty's views better. Certaintly it had been interesting hearing about life from a lion's pont of view - they were both savannah cats but the two species did things so differently. Solitude or pride life, solo hunts or collective efforts, speed or strength...
But her personal life was a different thing to life in general.

[Sorry I took FOREVER and a day, I had to help my dad serve dinner.]
Dimu smiled at her companion, taking the compliment with a glowing smile. As he showed her around she took note of everyhting he pointed out, then took a seat beside him, laying down aswell, mirrior his position. The light did cast a lovely glow to both of them. Uri's golden eyes seemed to light up just as handsomely as she remembered, and was sure her white coat was glowing a pale yellow now.
"My past?" She repeated, thinking. She couldn't remember how far into it she had gone with him. "Well... my mother and father were both rogues. My mother raised me until I was old enough to get by, then I woke up and she was gone. I have no idea if I have siblings, but I don't think I do." She said, watching him to see if this was soemthign he'd already heard, before she continued.
"Anyways. I was taught by her that the star I follow, was the star I was born under, and it was my star. I followed it after my mother left me, and really haven't encountered anything too interesting. I've had encounters with Wild Dogs, Firekin, other rogues..." She paused, remembering the encounter with the firekin male. "I was terrified whern I met that firekin male. I was terrified he was going to kill me. I managed to egt away by chatting him up until dawn. His eyes were sensative, so I was able to escape in the morning light."

"Your mother and mine would have got on well. She told me to leave while I was still young, as soon as she'd taught me enough to survive with." Uri laid his head down on his paws, head tilted just so, so he could see Dimu. Unless she aske he wasn't going to share more about that - though he reasoned she probably would. It was just embarassing and disarming to tell why his mother had done that.
It made him a freak once more.
"You ran into a Firekin? I've heard they're demon-lions, possessed by flames and that they carry of cubs into the night. Is that true? Either way, your bravery and beauty is comendable - no wonder he was so captivated by your trickery you escaped.

She was about to press on about why he was asked to leave, but then was confronted by him praising her on escaping the firekin. "I believe he wasn't as blood thirsty as the others. He said he was part of a vampiric or blood cult... I'm only glad he wasn't overly agressive, or I would not be sitting here with you." She added cheerfully as she smiled at the cheetah next to her.
Then then turned the questions back on him. "If you do not mind, I would like to know why a mother would want to abandon her son... were your siblings treatd the same way?"

"Oh, no. Older siblings and younger kittens were adored. Probably still living in the same general are as my parents are. Because ever single one of them in golden with black spots. Like all the other cheetahs in those lands."
"I was an oddity there. Mother probably was ashamed as much as anything. Her most loving gesture was to tell me to leave before they killed me." He tried a grin, trying to joke. "Jealous of my handsome fur, you know...."

Dimu watched with a distraught look in her rose hued eyes. How could anyone be ashamed to have motered, or fathered such a lovely creature. To Dimu, his simply dark coat and pale spots were the most lovely coat she had ever seen.
"How terrible... I'd rather be an oditty then be just another golden lion." She said resting her own head on her paws. "I'm sorry you've had to deal with such nonsence. You have a very handsom coat..." She said kindly, eyeing him, glad to see he wasn't a pathetic little creature who believed that he was a freak. She was glad he was the handsom, polite gentleman he was.

"Thank you, my dear."
He was lucky Dimu couldn't see inside his mind. Protected by all his charm and vain ways, like walls of ice, lay a shivering scared kitten...always fearful of rejection. Some might have become weak and pitiful at such treatment but Uri had gone the opposite way. If no one loved him and how he looked, he'd decided as a youngster, he'd love himself. And try to enchant others with himself as well! Except....except for Dimu and Kari, he'd been too nervous of rejection to let anyone close enough to dazzle them.
"You're very very kind."
