The earthen tunnel below was pitch black. From what the man could tell, it was entangled with roots and smelled quite foul. Yet, it was definitely big enough to house him comfortably. Not to mention it certainly seemed like it would take him somehwere interesting. Wherever this thing led, it was certainly better than being lost in a wood for the rest of his days.

With a bit of apprehension, Azreal took a step into the tunnel, soon followed by his second leg. He lowered himself down until, finally, he was inside the oak tree... or perhaps the earth, at this point?
His footsteps were made carefully and slowly over the roots and thorns, but Azreal began to progress deeper into the tunnel.

He had gone what seemed to be a long way, twisting downward, upward, left and right...he definitely had no sense of direction anymore...
A tickle at his ear. Was that his imagination, or a grub looking for a home? Nevermind. Keep moving.
Hmmmmmmm....
Huh?
He could have sworn there was something out there, further down the tunnel...a low humming noise, much like a chant, began to fill the long passageway, making the walls vibrate slightly in tune to the droning pitch...

The earthy smells! The living creatures! The complete darkness! Ah, this place was nice. Well, compared to Subania, anyway. Compared to Subania, it was Valhalla.
The low hum distracted him, and he lost his train of thought. What in the name of the succubus was that?
Slowly, he entered the lower part of the tunnel, peering out to see what he could.

[Well done. Some research, I see.]
The hum grew louder...he was getting close...
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....
Agh! Where was that coming from? He had to get to the end. This was well worth seeing...
Ooh. A hole. Firelit. Shadowy. An exit.
Looking out from the God-sent opening, Azreal was able to tell...very little. He was looking upon what semed to be a greyish-colored room with a large firepit in the center...with a robed statue frozen nearby, its gaze fixed directly upon the blaze...
Oh.
Well, that was boring.

Azreal let out a breath he did not know he had been holding. No longer frightened, Azreal emerged from the tunnel, approaching the fire and the statue with a sense of relief.
However, something still bothered him.... what had been making that noise?
((Yup. ^_^))

Well, that sucked. As soon as he dropped down, several figures came out of the shadows, silent and swift as wolves. Brandishing a number of armaments, the cloaked figures cornered him.
Ahead, a grey-robed man unsheathed a sword and dashed to you, stopping dead about 15 feet away. Edge pointed at your neck from afar, the commander spoke of nuothing. Neither did his group.
The humming had stopped.
God damnit, why did he have to have ******** dementia? It was times like these that just made the magic that accompanied it so not worth it.

((What could I have done to prevent that, though?))
A Lonarian curse hissed its way through Azreal's lips as the man was cornered and held at sword-point. He moved nothing, for fear that it would give these men cause to strike or kill.
"Be you human or Lonarian? Who are you? Speak!" tried Azreal, no hint of subtlety in his voice.

[Not jumped down? Had you merely waited one post, I would have described the ritual at hand and forwarded this, with you in safety.]
The men did not speak. They did not falter, either.
Looking around from man to man, a shorter, plumper figure seemed to have all of the warriors' attention. They stared directly at him, and though he tried not to look back, he seemed to resign himself to some kind of fate...
Slumping his shoulders, he stepped before you, brandishing a mean-looking morning star.
The rest of the men panned out, looking on in a thin semicircle.
Was this some kind of initiation? Entrance fee, perhaps? Blood was always a good form of currency...

Azreal held up his hand, aiming the seemingly normal appendage at the man. But it was so much more than that; it was a focus.... a lens, if you will... for his magic. Concentrating hard, he pictured the teleportation of a wasps nest he had seen outside into the poor man's stomach.
"REALIZE!" he shouted, feeling the energy surge through him.

((Azreal)) Well, that didn't work out so well. On the bright side, he learned that he had healing magic up his sleeve. Liro attempts Realize... And casts <>.No healing done; party is at full health.(-33 MP) The man didn't show any sign of fear...granted, Azreal couldn't see his face, but still...his motions were fluid and preparative... Readying his weapon, he flung himself at Azreal, swinging like a true amateur. Hood < >...
and does 108 damage!
The others seem to nod in approval...

Azreal stumbles backwards from the hit, spitting out some blood. Curses.... did that mean internal damage? He took a step back from the man, holding out his hands for another attempt at a spell: this time, he would try to replicate the fire he had used on the delicious bunnies.

((Azreal)) Ah...a much easier skill to replicate. Since he had done it before, it wasn't too hard... Azreal attempts REALIZE... And casts <>!
And deals 207 damage!(-56 MP) < Apparently, past used skills have a lower success threshold...>> Staggering from the blow, the hooded porkster readied another attack. Hood < >...
And deals 110 damage!
Things are starting to look up...

Azreal grins, welcoming the knowledge with open arms, Ah, first hand experience... that was something that no training could replicate!
He focused again, this time focusing on using Fire 2 to ignite Porky pig over there.

((Azreal)) Azreal attempts REALIZE... And fails due to a lack of MP!...uh-oh. This could be a problem. If only that fire magic didn't waste so much MP... It looked like he was back to reality-altering, unreliable strategies...unless there was another skill he could afford to try... Seizing his chance, Fatty McRobester swung hard...but tripped a little in the process. There was an opening, a chance to dodge! Hood < >...
