Okay, I know that most likely none of you are doctors, I just want to know if what I am experiencing is severe enough for me to NEED to see a doctor or if it is normal.
Okay, first off, I started menstruating when I was 10 or 11 (can't remember exactly) and by the time I was 12 I was having severely painful cramps on the first day of bleeding. I have by now figured out that it is most likely dysmenorrhea. Okay, I know that, I take over the counter stuff (Midol, and it doesn't really help but it makes the pain LESS severe (as in instead of curled in a corner on the floor crying from pain I can move around doubled over not crying))
Recently, as in within the past year, two years, my cramps have started beginning earlier and earlier. I have had severe cramps right now for 5 days and I just started bleeding about an hour ago.
5 days of being doubled over in pain.
Is that severe enough to need to see a doctor, or just another symptom of the dysmenorrhea as I get older?

This could be dysmenorrhea, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't see a doctor.
There are prescription medications that your doctor can provide you for the pain that may be more effective than over the counter medications.

For pain try taking Iberophene. I have sever pain to the point of vomiting sometimes. I need IBP,..the Midol crap does jack s**t for people like myself. But go see a doctor and find out what you cand do but definatly ask about IBP ( Ibeprofene *sp*). It works pretty fast and if Im lucky I only have to take to pill once a day smile . I dont know how your body works, so ask first, I dont want you geting sick on acount of me. sad

I've tried Ibuprofan. It gives me really bad headaches which are almost worse than the cramps.
Still cramping today, taking midol because that is the only thing that currently works for me, even if its only just a little.
The main problem is that I cannot get to see a doctor easily *no insurance so no one will take me - parents* and I get one free doctor visit at uni, but that is not for another 2 months.

I understand the no insurance issue.
I strongly suggest that you go to the doctor when you can.

I agree with her, do what you can for now :3 but check into that on your next visit.

I was in the exact same situation as you. Of course, that doesn't mean things will end the same.
For now, try taking something stronger, like ibuprofen. See if that helps your cramping. If not, you may need to see a doctor.
