The sun blazed over head and reflected off the many store front windows onto the flaming red hair of the girl that walked down the busy sidewalk with her bag slung over one shoulder. Entering the Descending Angels shop she took a moment to relax into the sweet caress of the air conditioning that greeted those who entered before moving further into the store. She was here to watch some more fights and look at a few outfits for the angel that was carefully tucked into her messenger bag.
Kylie had ditched her twin a few streets over to come here, figuring that Rena was bright enough to either come find her here or have fun on here own, so she was able to shop in relative silence as she walked by the display cases of already made outfits and fabric that was just waiting to be sewn into one. It wasn't too busy today, almost no children and only a few handfuls of people crowded the aisles. More could be seen at the other end of the store around the layers but that was to expected. It was what had attracted Kylie to buy one in the first place.

Demetri had returned to the store three times since the day he bought his egg. He still hadn't hatched it. He knew he wouldn't be able to afford much of anything for this game so he wanted his first angel to be perfect. He'd spent hours watching battles trying to decide what kind of angel would suit him best. He'd looked over every article of clothing available but nothing struck him as the right one. Outside the store he'd only become more secluded. He dreaded the day the other boys found out about his budding hobby. With any luck, they'd never know. He was still trying to convince them that he wasn't gay just because he couldn't find a girl friend the day he'd discovered Angelic Layer.

Kylie looked up as something purple moved out of the corner of her eye. Looking over she quickly realized it was a boy, probably young teens, that had just entered and started looking around. About time some more males started playing. Wouldn't be as much to win against little girls all the time. By the way he entered and started to look around she could tell this wasn't his first time in here but he also didn't look like a very experienced Deus. Not that she was any better.

Demetri sighed perusing the same patterns he'd seen the last time he was here. Everything about this game was fascinating and he couldn't wait to get started, but he worried about creating a weak angel. From what he'd seen a lot of angels were similar to their dei. He didn't want his angel to be like him, he wanted it to be stronger. He wanted it to look weak and then pound all opposition into the ground. Kind of like what he'd like to be able to do.

Kylie glanced one more at the dresses behind the counter and was about to leave but for some reason or another the boy had caught her attention. He was too young for her, she liked guys closer to her own age, but he looked so out of place that she couldn't help but stare a little. Most guys that did play the game had these terribly macho angels but this one didn't come across that way. Leaning against the counter she folded her arms and decided to watch for a moment.

He sighed, still without a plan for his angel and turned to leave. These trips to the shop weren't really helping much. As he aproached the door he saw the boys from his class waiting outside the skateshop next door. He turned back to the shop so quickly he nearly ran into a tower of new accessories. He backed away and bumped into a little girl. He whirled around just as she started to cry on the floor. Shocked he bent down and apologized, "Sorry! I didn't mean to push you. Please don't cry." He looked up, there were people staring at him. He hated drawing attention. The girl was still crying. He reached in his pocket to look for anything that would make up for knocking her down. He bit his lip, he'd been saving this money to buy clothes for his unhatched angel, but he really felt bad for what he'd done to her. "How about I buy you an ice cream to make up for it? But you have to stop crying and wait for those boys out front to leave." He nodded toward the window and smiled hopefully.

Kylie had to put a hand to her mouth to stop from laughing when the boy she had been watching crashed into a little girl that couldn't have been more then 6 or 7. She heard his offer but the girl had taken off screaming for her mother, so it seemed they boy would get to keep his money after all. Walking over she looked out the window then over at the boy. "So those kids out there scare you enough to start knocking over little girls huh?" she giggled and kept her arms folded with an almost sarcastic grin on her face.

He sighed as the girl ran off, he hated being a villian. He looked up at the other girl. Great, way too much attention drawn by that little scene. He stood and glared at her crossing his arms in defiance. "I'm not scared of them." It wasn't that he thought they'd hurt him if they saw him here. He just wanted their approval. He wanted friends, it didn't matter if they were assholes. "They just... wouldn't understand any of this." He gestured toward the shelves behind him. Everything in there was so girly, if they saw him there would be no convincing them that he was straight.

"Why, are they that stupid to not grasp the concept of dolls that fight? Even my twin understands that much and she's a few clowns short of a circus." Kylie stopped and looked more closely at the gesture to behind him. It was rather...pink. "Oh...you mean the fact they'll probably think your gay. It IS kinda bright when I think about it. Well, are you gay? Anyways....I hated it too when I first came here but you get over it once you start watching the battles and designing your own."

Demetri glared and defended his manliness a bit too strongly.. "I'm NOT gay." In truth he wasn't so sure. He'd never felt anything special for a boy, but he'd never felt anything special for a girl either. What if playing with these dolls really did make him gay? No, that was stupid. Doing something like this can't make you gay. Nothing can do that.
"I know that its kind of girly on the outside, but the battles are really cool. I'm going to make my angel a great fighter!" So what if he wanted to live vicariously through his angel? It wasn't that lame...

Kylie just raised an eyebrow at his outburst and didn't say much. It wasn't really any of her business what this boy was doing or planned to do. She didn't even know his name....but it was something fun to play with at the moment.
"And that's why I got one. I'm not as girly as I look." Looking over her shoulder at the boys outside she rolled her eyes. "Well, g'luck with those boys. Doesn't look like they're leaving..." She began to walk away, back towards the cases of clothing, wondering if the game would end there or continue.

He watched her start to leave. She was right, those guys weren't leaving any time soon. He glanced at his watch, he had to leave soon if he was going to make it home before curfew. With a sigh he stood up, he might as well face facts. He swallowed the lump in his throat and walked out of the shop and onto the street. With any luck they wouldn't notice him.
Luck was not his strong suit.
"Oi Demetri! What're you doing in a girl's shop?" Demetri froze, biting his lip. "I bet you play with those stupid dolls don't you?"
"I always knew you were a f*****t."
"What a loser! Did you get a new dress for your little barbie, fairy-boy?"
"Shut up! I'm not a f*****t and I don't play with dolls!" Okay so that last bit was a lie, he was just beginning to but there was no doubt in his mind that he would be playing with his doll often as it didn't seem like he'd be making any real friends for a while.
"Oh yeah? What were you doing in Descending Angels then?"
"I was..." Might as well expand the lie, it couldn't hurt right? Maybe they'd leave him alone. "I was just... waiting."
"For what?"
"My... My girlfriend. She really likes this Angelic Layer thing."
"What?! You have a girlfriend?"
"No way. Prove it."
"Alright I will." He turned and fled into the shop. He stood there panting and staring at the ground. "Ohhh what have I gotten myself into?" He looked around the store, someone had to be willing to at least pretend to go out with him. But he didn't know anybody here. The only person he even recognized was the girl he'd spoken too earlier. He crossed the floor to her, biting his lip. "E-Excuse me..." He paused for a long moment, he shouldn't even bother to ask this. "C-Could you just do me one huge favor?"

Kylie had seen him run out and sighed. Too bad...time to go back to clothes shopping. Just as she was getting back into considering things she heard a voice behind her. Turning, she saw the purple hair boy and grinned a little sarcastically. "A favor? And a huge one at that....name might be nice first kid." Kylie wasn't huge on favors...playing mind games with a stranger was fun, favors usually meant work.

He looked a little ashamed of himself. "D-Demetri." This was wrong, he couldn't honestly ask her to do this for him. He didn't even know her name. "I kinda told them I was just here waiting for my girlfriend. They don't believe it. Could you..." God this was embarassing. He hated himself for asking this of a stranger. "Could you pretend to be my g-girlfriend?" He shifted uncomfortably.
