Hmmm...okay.
I'm not that unhealthy, but I call myself very malnourished and that's really bad when your marching.
Two things that kills me during marching practice. 1. I get cramps somewhat easily because of my low amount on potassium. EAT BANANAS YEAH! 2. When I suddenly move quickly, my head gets dizzy for awhile. Signs of low iron. EAT GREEN VEGGIES YEAH![haven't had signs yet in practice]
To sum it up|| I do eat bananas and green veggies, but not a lot to wear it will help me supposedly. And I hate taking pills/CENTRIUM![or whatever it's called]
So I ask you, my fellow band members, do you take vitamins and if you do, which one is the best?Or should I continue to eat bananas and broccoli? I also eat other good stuff no worries. 8]
My mom is starting to get worried.

I'm a vegetarian and a girl so I get EXTREMELY low iron. This is hard during the marching season because low iron means we don’t get as much oxygen and low oxygen can cause dizziness, cause us to be out of breath, and make us feel extremely tired.
I take iron supplements to take care of my iron levels. In face it gives more than 100% of my daily value. I get 361% of my daily value from those. I also take vitamins that carry all the vitamins and minerals I need, especially b12. It also carries 100% daily value of iron... So this means I get 461% of my daily value added to my iron tablets..... This is an okay amount btw. I'm not over dosing in iron.
But these things really help me~! I find myself doing better and lasting longer. As it goes for protein, my supplements don’t have protein. So for breakfast I drink a protein shake, for lunch I eat LOTS of cheeses and maybe I can buy a special K protein water to go with that.
btw. Low iron is also known as Anemia.]
The vitamins I've currently got are: Nature Made - Iron Kirkland Signature Daily Multi Vitamins and Minerals it also says on the bottle [COMPARE TO CENTRUM]
I also have a problem with potassium. In fact, I get Charlie Horses in my sleep [they wake me up] due to low potassium around my periods.
I've previously used Equate: Women's one daily with calcium iron and zinc. I for some reason still have a whole bottle of these... I think i miss placed them and found them months later when we cleaned the kitchen.

My trick to get iron levels up is to cram as many dried apricots down my throat as I can hold! I don't do this for band, but to give blood. It works though! I have a friend that had anemia and she couldn't march the last three competitions, including the finals. She ended up being a prop on the field. So eat those apricots!! xd

yeah I am a vegetarian but I usually find ways around that. Last year though I became extremely malnurished because we had so many competitions (15 in the season besides championships and states) and I wasn't eating enough. So I became extremely sick and it was just a bad situation.
So eat up childrens! Don't pass out on the field
