The lion looked up into the sky. The sun was at its peak, blaring down over the grassy savvanah. Bakari gave a calm sigh before lowering his head and continuing to walk through the grass. His mind was riddles with thoughts, making this walk less enjoyable than others.
Most of said throughs were... random, meaningless. but one particular thought made him ponder a bit...
The lioness. Inati, who he had felt so different around. As the thought of her breached his mind and stopped his steps, looking back into the cloudless sky.
This day was proving to be more dull than it would have been if he had stayed home.
Er... probably not. But something in close proximity.

Inati rolled onto her back in the cloud-white sand, sighing. A sand bath had helped cool her black coat, but soon she would have to go leap in the lake, for she hated being dirty...
The thought made her smile- though she had no real idea why- but it soon faded... Ina had felt rather bored as of late... Since she hadn't been spending as much time with Bakari...
Oh... Then there was Bakari...
She purred, rolling back to all fours and standing, shaking the sand from her silken hide. Ahhh yes.. Bakari.. Now there was a male...
She tossed her head back and roared his name, a girlish ritual her friends had once done as kits... Always a dare... The one calling always ferverntly wished her male was not in range. The thought made her giggle...

Said lion had just stopped in his tracks as he heard his name on the wind. A light smirk irked at the edge of his mar and he turned towards the source and started to walk there.
He knew the source before he arrived. Or perhaps, it was just a hope that had come true.
Bakari saw the black lioness as he stalked silently towards her, his tail swishing from side to side. He didn't notice the sandy patch she was standing in, and pounced beside her, a cloud of sand blowing into the air.
"My lady princess calls for me?" He gave his smooth, quirky grin, watching her.

Inati released a rather unladylike squeek out outrage and surprize as the sand fountained up around her, staring when it had cleared. Bakari stood beside her, smiling, as though she had just conjured him out of thin air.
The realization that he had probably heard her foolishly calling made her cheeks flame, and she was glad her coat was so dark to shield her. She felt rather silly, and very 'caught in the act' but did her best to recover.
"Hmm.. For once a male who comes when he's called." She mused as though thinking the possibility over very carefully. "Do you listen to directions too?"
She laughed softly, stepping over and rubbing her face under his, purring. "Hello Bakari, its lovely to see you again."

During Inati's moment of un-calm-ness, for lack of a better work, Bakari just grinned, standing up straight beside her. He flicke his tail from sid eto side, trying his best to ceep his cool and not burst up in laughter.
As she spoke, the grin widened. "Of course, of course. Anything to see ya again, m'dear~" He chuckled lighty. "Listen to directions? Come now, if I listened to everything I was told, I'd be rather dull now, wouldn't I~?"
His foolish grin turned to a serene smile as she neared. He nuzzled her gently in return, flicking her gently with his tail. "It is, it is. I haven't seen you in a while, Inati...~"

She laughed, a silken sound as she sat before him, content to lean her cheek against his chest for a moment. "True, and I could not even stand you to be dull... You're much better now, as you are..."
She nipped at him playfully. "I am most glad you think so, and yes.. It has been too long since last we met... What have you been up to?"
She tilted her head, considering him with dancing eyes.

Bakari grinned lightly, tucking her head beneath his. "Of course! And I can't have you going around thinking I'm dull, now can I~" He gave a light chuckle, his check shaking with the light breaths.
As she nipped at him, he just pawed back lightly. "Oh, much, much too long..." What, a few days or weeks? Meh, waaay too long... "Ah, I haven't been doing much. Quite lonesome and quiet, really... You?"
She looked to him, and he looks back, pink orbs gleaming.

She considered him with a sly smile for a few moments, eyes dancing. Should she? Well.. It was Bakari after all.. He made her heart jump in her chest just by glancing at her.
"Missing you." She answered simply, expression gentling.
The moon had melted away to nothing and grown half full again since last she had seen her wandering Prince... And she found herself wishing that not a single night would pass without him at her side... Could this be love?

Bakari gave a heartful smile. "I've been missing you too" He said gently, curling his tail around her. His ear flicks and she looked down at her gently.
After a few moments of silence, he looked away towards the sky. "Inati..." He spoke softly, her name rolling off of the tip of his tongue. "Tell me..." He lookd back to her, gaze soft, words nothing more than a whisper. "Why does the mere mention of your name make my heart lurch...?" He trailed his tail down her back, feathers brushing the specks of sand that remained in her black fure free.

She inhaled sharply, eyes fixing on him hungrily.... How could he stop her just by dancing across the edge of her thoughts? How could he make her blood sing in her veins just by being near enough to smell?
"I do not know.. I was hoping you could answer a similar question for me.." She purred, eyes downcast for a moment. "Why does the thought of you take my breath away?"
She tilted her head in question, then smiled. "But perhaps the answer is, because I am in love with you..."

His heart skipped a beat and he just watched her for a few moments ater he spoke. His movements went still, his tail curling back around her.
A smile gew back faintly on his lips and he leaned down, his face beside hers.
"We are in love with each other then, my princess, my dear, my love" He murmured quietly into her ear before licking her cheek gently.
A deep purr rumbled in his chest and his heart beat in his throat.
This moment, it felt so awkward to him... But at the same time, if felt so... right...

Inati felt as though her heart would leap out of her chest as he considered her in silence. The feel of his tail wrapping about her eased her panic, though her heart fairly tripled its rhythm when he spoke the words she had so longed to hear... And so much more.
"We are in love." She agreed with a smile, purring as he licked her cheek, snuggling close to him. "My Wanderer, My Prince, My Mate..."
A little thrill went through her at the thought, and she smiled widely as she rested her head against his silken mane.

Bakari settled beside her and tucked her head beneath his chin. Love... The word rung in his head and he pulled her close, nuzzling her gently. "I love you. Inati... Will you be at my side? For I will always be there beside you..."
An ear flicked, dark grey flakes flailing in the air for a moment.

Inati looked at him in silence for a few moments. Would she be there? She already was.. As soon as she met him? Before? Had their destinies always been one? Had she merely danced around with other male's hearts because they had not been her prince?
"I will be with you for as long as I live.. And if I can, I will come back from death to walk at your side once more." She said honestly.
And boy was that the truth! If her mother and friends could do it, why not she?
