Wow. I'm shocked. I live in the Cities and go over that bridge a lot.

At least one person is dead because of it; I'm surprised there aren't more; it looks really, really bad. Not only part of the bridge went down, the whole thing did...during rush hour. I'm glad all of the kids on the schoolbus are okay.

I want to know why it went down. My mom suspects the heat had a part (it's been a very hot summer), but it's not a very hot day today! It probably has something to do with the concrete rehabilitation that was being done.

Now a (rather ominous-looking) thunderstorm is rolling in. That's sure to help the rescue efforts.

Hey, Vajra, don't you live in Bloomington?

Minnetonka. I happened to be going over that bridge about an hour before the collapse. A little to close of a time proximity to potential death than I'd like to be. Ugh, were gonna be hearing about this for months,

The latest I heard is four died...and I think the bridge was given a rating of unstable/something that means not kept up very well, which may have caused the collapse. I think part of it is because the bridge traffic was changed and people had to drive on the shoulder and in one lane, throwing off the balance. At least, that's the way the pictures on the news looked.

All those aforementioned people or people similar to them, who are not already dead, need to die. I do not exaggerate.

if the collapse was due to a flaw in the structuring (which that's what someone told me what the problem was) then it's gonna place a lot of blame on the state. Just how do you go about explaining that anyway? "Well we DID know about the flaw when it was built, but we didn't think it would actually COLLAPSE.....OUR BAD!"

Not cool at all.

and yeah, all those people need death. ESPECIALLY Paris Hilton. Scream and whine your way out of prison-you were in there for a reason, b***h! scream

I'm back from vacation now, and my reaction is WTF?!.

Saint Paul, especially Como Park and surrounding areas, just got really seriously PWN3D by a storm (80MPH winds). There are trees down everywhere; how unfortunate that that giant cottonwood tree didn't land on my neighbor's house. ninja

I leave to bridges collapsing and come back to trees falling and this dreadfully muggy weather. Great. I'm going back to San Francisco now, thank-you very much.

I wish.

When I saw it on the news, I was for second about to call EI, but then I realized I don't have her number and she would problably not have the slightest idea of who the hell's calling her. xp I am a really caring person, I.

Sad thing though, this bridge collapsing. And the storm after that. It's weird how the weather is out of it's normal behavior everywhere in the world, except for where I live. We haven't noticed any kind of global warming. In the South there are floodings and storms, but everything is perfect here. Odd.

This post is a little late and a little off-topic, but I'm glad you Minnesota people in this guild are okay! smile
