Okay so I thought I'd see if there was an interest first. I was told there were some who liked history but I was just wondering if there would be an actual avid interest in some of my typical genre of role plays.

I have two well used role play idea's I like to often use but alas, the majority of Barton Town seems to dislike them.

Season of Terror

The first is a historical mixed with horror fantasy. It's set mid way after Napoleans last exile (and death) and the riots in the 1830's. Originally I had it set right in those riots but after some thought I had moved it. It's a typical vampire plot. That role play planning was actually what got me here. I have it named Season of Terror, because it's about a seperate society of vampires living among the ranks of society in Paris France, and it is summer time- hence the typical Season. In it are options for several different types of roles.

There is the Main clan of Vampyres that I generally like ranks to get filled out in. They are typically alright and fairly decent, exiling anyone who is not. Then there are smaller groups, or septs living in Paris of less standing and more cruelty. There are the Guild of Hunters, which is sort of like a secret society, where there are members taught by text book means to kill and hunt vampyres.

The Bonnie Pretender

As the name may or may not- depending on your knowledge- suggest, it is set in the 1745 Jacobite Uprising of The Bonnie Prince Charlie when termed affectionately, or Charles the Pretender when your not.

It is a role play centered during the time in the uprisings. It is after the movement to England, and they still hold Edinburgh but before the retreat from Derby. Generally I don't expect a whole lot of knowledge on it beyond what I provide but anyone else with any knowledge on it would be a great relief. I generally play a character based off of my great grandmother in appearance and temperament not to mention name. I slightly embellish our family holdings though as we were just a part of clan Cameron... but anyways before I get side tracked eek back on topic.

Generally it is without a story line. I've had great success with a friend of mine and this role play before. There are several roles available for it: Jacobite soldier, English "Dragoon", Citizen, Support (someone who is not clearly a soldier in either, but can be a cook, a hustler, a blacksmith etc to either country). It is the Stuart conflict and I can provide a brief time line of events so you know where you stand.

Usually I place it mid highlands, mid lowlands Scotland where the events and the people were iffy and could go either way. There was a great amount of criticism at the time as it was very much a Scottish cause as much as it was a bid to get back the throne of England for the stuarts (Charles the first having been executed, James having been exiled and forced to abdicate the throne. He had led his own rebellions unsuccesfully at the turn of the century, now his son did the same).

The time could easily be adapted as well and set at the beginning of the conflict or at the near end or while they were still in Edinburgh prior to the excursion into England. It could even be post Culloden and deal with the avid destruction of the Highland life.

*~*

The other two I have not yet had the courage to try are not fully formed into thought yet. I was also currently in the middle of an attempt to create a pre Robert the Bruce role play. It would be more about the outlook of life in the original clans. It's before the Balliol conflict and the death of red Comyn and the systematic distruction of his family.

Anyways it can lead into that if that's where a discussion would like it to go, I would just need to adapt the time really to be closer to the Comyn-Bruce conflict. And it would be the Bruce conflict. Please. No Braveheart. They really screwed that movie up and I HATE the way the portrayed the Bruce in it as a weakling and etc when he really WASN'T.

This one I have a bit more concrete as well.

The 1830's and 1840's in Ireland were full of conflicts. The Irish were poor, dejected, ignorant and all at the hands of the English who had taken over their land and made many ancient families tenants. Then in 1845 a famine struck. Small groups of them had formed in protest. It became illegal not only the Irish to recieve an education of any form but also to meet in groups of more than a few. By 1848, three years after the famine started, 3 million Irish had been killed from famine and famine related diseases. Today, historians estimate as much as another million perhaps also died in places harder to reach. The pope declared that no member of a family who had lost an immediate family member to the famine had to abhor to the Catholic traditions of fasting and no meet on Friday's etc.

I like your ideas for these roleplays. Though I may not know alot about the historcal backgrounds, I truly do love to learn new things. (I tend to study the facts about roleplays like this when I join, so I get a better view.)
And I have to say I like the plot for Season of Terror ^__^

And yeah, most of these I have set out for rp plots because I rp my stories first to try out the characters I specifically have in mind razz

Haha, ohh. And yeah, you have to get the right feel for a character in a specific plot and background..
Well I'd love to join an RP of yours if you make one in here ^__^
And I have a roleplay, more so based on mythology than historics, but it's coming out pretty good ^_^ It was the first roleplay I've ever made haha.

That's the ragnarok one right? I don't know enough about Norse mythology or culture or I would join it... sad

I have Season of Terror up now though 3nodding I might try putting some of the others up at a later date too.. I have a fantasy world I write and role play in constantly too. It's called Lithania. I've got the heirarchy of the world etc, I had an amazing map drawn too... it's lost in my bedroom somewhere...

Haha YAY! I'll go look soon ^.^
And haha yeah, if I had something lost in my room, I'd never be able to find it.. sweatdrop
But it sounds pretty sweet ^__^
And yeah, the Ragnarok is the one! Hehe. And if you really wanted to join you could. The only thing that really follows the Norse mythology are the Gods and the idea of the great battle. Pretty much everything else is loosely based on it. ^__^"

I love straight historical roleplays, but I always tend to find most historical roleplays aren't completely realistic which makes me disappointed. Not that they're bad, but I absolutely love realistic, historical roleplay. Like Rome dictated by Ceasar or Medieval times.

Well that's what most of my idea's are smile which happens to be why most of them go down sadly. Season of Terror is the only fantasy mixed with history.

I love Robert the Bruce. I'm currently working on research for writing a novel about the Irish famine and the Young Irelanders. Those are the first two I would definately like to see become a role play here but I don't know if I would get the support. I've proven a Jacobite uprising can be played by two people if their both dedicated to the role play lol.
