One) My biggest term that I fuss over. 'Coming out of the closet'

What the hell? Ok, just to start off. What closet are we talking about? Because unless your speaking of when you were 5 and used to hide in there because you thought it would be a good place for 'Hide 'n seek' then I have no clue what 'closet' your speaking of.

So, as far as 'Coming out of the closet' goes. I don't agree with it. People don't 'Come out of the closet' they just tell people something about themselfs that the other person did not know. LIke revling a sceret.

Two) Thats SO gay.

Thats so gay... Lets ponder about the meaning of this for a few moments. *all ponders for a few mins* Ok, thats enough of that.

Well, first off, lets look up the meaning of 'Gay'.

This is according to the American Heritage Dictionary. Compact Edition. Proudce by Seiko Instrusments. S11.

~ GAY [ADJ]
1. Merry.

~GAY [ADJ]
2. Bright or Lively.

~GAY [N]
3. A homosexual.

Ok. So this DOES tell us we can use it as a ADJ BUT it is also a N. If you look at the two ADJ meanings, neither one of them say 'stupid'. They mean Merry, Bright, Or Lively.

And yet in today's world that we live in we take the word gay and either think 'Homo' or 'Stupid' When it doesn't mean stupid at all.

This is an example of how HORABLE the english lang is in todays life.

Three) Gender roles.

No one person in a same sex relationship should have to be the 'male' or the 'female'. Alot of what I see is that people go, 'Oh well witch one is the female?' Or 'Oh well witch one is the male?'. When really, no one needs to define what role they are.

Depened on the couple they might like to have them, or not. Its based on them.

But what alot of couples do is that they blance it. Not one has to be the male or the female. They each are a bit of each one.

Again with Gender roles, its just another part of lables that I'm 100% against.

Coming out of the closet doesn't bother me really. It's the gay with a negative connotation that bugs me. People are ridiculous now. Gay does not equal stupid...

I have to scold my friends/beg them to not use that word near me when they use it. It's terrible.

I, too, dislike using "gay" as a pejorative...

...but I don't really see a problem with "coming out of the closet." Is there a better euphemism for it, or do you advocate using no euphemisms whatsoever?

I don't see the big deal, really. I'd just laugh at their ignorance of the meaning.

I agree with number 2 but not number one. It's a proverbial closet being the place where you hide your orientation.

Oh but people can still say "that's so gay" or a similar prase if used correctly. for example
"BakaTulip is so gay"
that whould be true because:
a- She is gay. Well I presume she is because of her sig... lol
BakaTulip's sig
I don't even think straight

b- Also, because I whould expect she is pretty happy! blaugh

I made a huge argument on a fourm that I go to because of the phrase "that's so gay". One of my friends got mad at me for me getting mad about it. She says it's just a phrase, like people saying "that's retarded" and that it's only a word. It's true, it is only a word. It's wrong to use "retarded" or "gay" like that but what can you do? Get mad over nothing? Cause ppl aren't gonna stop using it.. But it does still irratate me and I dont agree with it's use. I just try to let it go...

"Coming out of the closet" isn't so bad either I guess. I dunno why people use the phrase but I dont really mind using it since it's used among homosexuals as well.

No, not that.

What really gets to me about is is that it IS a 'phrase'. I don't think there should be a need for a phrase.

It should just be 'telling someone' It doesn't need a tittle like coming out of the closet'.

Think of it this way.
"I'm going to get a cookie."

Thats telling someone something. Now if we needed a phrase for that, it would sound stupid, because all we're saying is that your getting a cookie.

So with the whole 'coming out of the closet' thing, it should have to be a phrase. Its just the matter that your telling someone your sexuality. It doesn't need to have a phrase or tittle to it.

I personally don't like it when people in gay relationships identify themselves as either the girl or guy in the relationship.

Well thats different. Usually most guys do that depending on the sex. Like yaoi theres the Uke the femmy one and the Seme the more manly one.

Sometimes guys just do it because it makes them feel better knowing their role.
